I am the president of Sland Studios, a web development studio based out of Calgary Alberta and build websites for clients in a range of industries. Our specialty is understanding our clients needs, developing a strategy to achieve these goals, and delivering on our commitment.
For what projects/services did your company hire Wulver Digital Advertising, and what were your goals?
We hired Wulver to provide PPC and Google Ad Management services to our existing suite of ongoing website design and support services. Google Ad Management and Campaign Optimization is a role we can't justify hiring in-house, but would greatly increase our service offering to provide as a part of our ongoing services. We needed regular reporting on the status of ongoing campaigns with regular suggestions for ongoing optimization.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were referred to Robin as being a very articulate and skilled in his trade. We needed someone who can provide very high level work while also being responsive to client questions, and Robin is a great fit.

Our engagement began with a discovery meeting to determine the clients goals. We were able to set client expectations in a proposal which we modified to fit the clients needs. Robin then proceeded to configure, manage, and optimize the Google Ads as per the clients needs.
He worked with our team to set up corresponding landing pages to optimize ad conversions. Once the ads were set up, Robin continued to send client correspondence to further optimize the ads and provide regular reports. Presently, we have a series of ads running to specific geographic locations as per the client's target demographics with ads that are continuing to represent the clients offering to an increasingly targeted audience.

Robin was the only point of contact from Wulver which made things easy and consistent. Robin is a great communicator which made project management easy and straight forward, and knowing that he did the work himself was very reassuring especially when any change requests came in from the client or our team.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We optimized over a dozen landing pages to capture client leads that came from Robin's ads. The audience for each ad was optimized and ads were shown to specific audiences with more meaningful conversion (verses displaying ads to a larger audience with limited conversions) A residual effect of these efforts was an increased confidence from the client as we are able to provide regular reports and correspondence with great results. The ad results and client correspondence exceeded client expecations.

Robin is great for managing our expectations through emails and quick replies to our team as well as the client team directly.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the digital communications and marketing manager for Beattie Tartan, an integrated communications firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with Wulver Digital Advertising?
We were looking to use Wulver services to assist our clients in setting up, optimizing, and managing their digital advertising campaigns on Google and social media platforms.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Wulver helps us create, maintain, manage, optimize, and deliver our clients’ Google and social media advertising. For social media, they focus on Instagram and Facebook, but they also help us with a client who is on LinkedIn.
To work with every client, we first have a call to define the scope of work, as well as a storytelling session where both Wulver’s creative team and our client are involved. This serves as an opportunity for Wulver to understand our client's brand, objectives, goals, and reasons why they selected digital advertising as a strategy. Then, we go through a budgetary process to define what is available and who we are trying to reach.
Once the campaigns are launched, they provide us with extensive reporting. This reporting includes a monthly report and recap, which also comes with recommendations.

I’m only working with Robin (Owner) at this moment.
How did you come to work with Wulver Digital Advertising?
I found Robin through word of mouth, through another client who had been working with him.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $5,000–$10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I officially started working with Wulver in the spring of 2021, but our companies worked together in the past. We hired them at the end of 2020 for another campaign. Currently, our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In terms of success, our clients’ success is what matters the most. We’re able to see great success for them through the reports that Robin and his team provide us with every month. Not understanding or not being aware of that data would be a failure, so we consider working with Wulver a great success.
Being able to understand the numbers and read the data is invaluable. We can see the campaigns’ impact and performance to adjust future campaigns and reach our goals.
In terms of general feedback, we’re very happy with their services. They’ve done a great job. The whole process is very professional and enlightening, and they've added a lot of value to our clients' digital campaigns.
We’re very pleased with their ability to turn around projects and provide us with thorough and helpful information. They’re also great at onboarding and engaging with our clients.
How did Wulver Digital Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?
Wulver’s overall communication is excellent. They’re great at scheduling meetings and responding to emails — everything is very timely and accounted for. Their line of communication is always open, and they’re very approachable.
I’m very impressed with Wulver’s ability to turn around questions in a short amount of time. We essentially have zero unanswered questions, and we have the opportunity to ask all of the foolish questions that we want.
Additionally, a lot of education also goes into the onboarding calls and storytelling sessions. They completely and clearly understand the goals.
We also use a time management tool, so we keep track of how we use time. So far, Wulver has delivered everything within the estimated timelines.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Robin’s joy is impressive; he is pure energy. Wulver’s team brings excitement to social media and digital advertising. This type of work is highly data-driven, but they add a high level of enthusiasm to their work, which is extremely appreciated.
We found that Robin and his team were completely experts in their field. It has a lot of moving pieces, and it requires us to have a lot of trust in them. Additionally, they’re very professional and confident, and they can answer any questions to our clients during the meetings.
I’ve worked with other agencies and private contractors in the past, and Wulver impressed me with their ability to extract and process data to optimize the campaigns and reach our clients’ goals. Data sometimes can be confusing and misunderstood, but they’re great at managing it to make recommendations.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have any constructive feedback for them. Wulver makes the projects simple and understandable.

We were hired to manage digital ads for Calgary's most luxurious rental apartments. These apartments were the most expensive in the city. The goal was to rent the building out within 18 months. Our goal was achieved ahead of schedule due to the amazing job that Wulver Digital provided.

We selected Wulver based on past work together. Robin is extremely professional, integrates very well within our client's ethos and produces winning results.

We always start with a discovery session with our clients to understand campaign goals and objectives. We also go deeper in to client psychographics and target markets. From there Robin will do a high level audit of websites, current social platforms and Google presence. This spawns the creation of a working brief that all parties are able to view and make changes. From approvals of creative, placements and copy the ads go live. Robin will then optimize on a weekly basis and produce reports monthly.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Just Robin.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
CPL were anywhere between $30 -$40 which is very good in our industry. Website bounce rates were extremely low around 50%. Form fills and calls healthy in relation to client ad budgets.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Very effective. Robin provides a lot of insight on efficiencies and process that have made things fairly seamless.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Robins open, safe and none pushly approach to business. He is confident and honest with his approach. He does not steal money or push an agenda.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Perhaps hiring more staff when things get very busy so he can concentrate on the bigger picture.

Our client needed to get their message out during the 2021 federal election. Part of that effort was a digital ad campaign which we collaborated on with Wulver and had Wulver manage and optimize.

We have a longstanding track record of success using Wulver on digital ad campaigns with our clients. This was one of many such campaigns over several years of sub-contracting to Wulver.

A typical digital ad campaign - Wulver created the campaign brief with our assistance, we documented target audiences, platforms, ad formats, targeting mechanisms, budget, spending pace, account structure, KPIs and reporting cadence.

This particular campaign is ongoing but we met a very tight timeline to launch as this was a snap election and we were asked to step in at the last minute. In other campaigns through years of working with Wulver we have achieved excellent results in cost-per-click, click rates, conversion rates, reach, impressions and tangible actions on landing pages. Suffice it to say Wulver is focussed on tangible outcomes for each campaign and not vanity metrics.

They collaborate and communicate in a friendly, relaxed, professional style. Use of numerous tools (Slack, Google Workspace, Google Data Studio, other reporting tools, Asana) to stay on the same page and report results. Very thorough.

Wulver has a depth of digital/web expertise greater than most and is able to combine advertising, web and SEO solutiuons in unique ways, sometimes with limited resources, to meet client goals. That plus friendly and knowledgeable service and advice makes Wulver a go-to partner for us at Communicatto.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I feel like our skills in audience identification, copywriting and key message development mesh well with Wulver's ability to plan and execute. I don't think Wulver would portray themselves as a creative agency, so you might want to expect to resource that in some other way. For many campaigns that's not even a gap or concern (in some cases the copy and imagery is pretty straightforward).
