A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of Endurance Sports Investment Group, which is doing business as Run Tri Bike magazine. We produce a multimedia platform for athletes who are beginning their journey in endurance sports. We place an emphasis on women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and physically challenged athletes.
What challenge were you trying to address with Witmer Group?
We were a startup, and we’ve only been recognized by the IRS as an official business in January 2021. Given that, Kristina (Owner) and her team were tasked with creating a world-class website as quickly as they possibly could with all of our varying needs and wants within a specific budget.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Witmer Group built our website on WordPress. Its function was to segment various articles and videos for us. They also set up an online store function so that people could subscribe to our print magazine.
As the project was rolling along, I entered into an agreement with another company that had an app for events. Kristina and her team coordinated with that company to bring the information from the app to our website. As a result, we’d have exclusive content on the website about the events taking place across the country. Then, the company would have our site content on their app. Witmer Group had to make sure the information from the app was displayed neatly on our website.
Kristina and I still have regular brainstorming sessions to make sure that the website is functioning the way it’s supposed to. We talk about marketing and everything else that we can do to improve our business.
What is the team composition?
I only deal directly with Kristina, but Erica (Web Developer), Lori (Operations Director), and one other person also work on the project behind the scenes.
How did you come to work with Witmer Group?
Years ago, I was introduced to Kristina through a mutual friend of ours. She helped me when I was VP of sales and marketing at another company. She worked with us on our SEO, revamping a website that we had. She’d been a great partner to me over those years, and we’d worked on some other projects. As a result, it was natural for me to reach out to her when I launched this new business and to have her build our website.
How much have you invested with them?
The website itself before APIs and add-ons cost $5,000, and the additional work they’ve provided cost around $2,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement started in January 2021, and we launched the site in March 2021. Technically, our engagement is ongoing because of our regular brainstorming sessions.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In terms of timeframes, Witmer Group hits the nail on the head. They’ve had the website up and running for our March 2021 launch, which coincided with the premiere issue of our magazine. From that perspective, they’ve been spot on.
More importantly, they’ve built a fantastic website; it's a state-of-the-art and beautiful-looking site. We haven’t received any single negative comment about it, which was impressive because people are more forthcoming with negative comments these days than they are with positive comments. Conversely, we’ve received a handful of positive feedback about the business in general and about the website specifically. I’m pretty happy about that.
There have been a handful of challenges. As a perfectionist and a new business owner, I want to make sure that everything is in the right place. Given that, Kristina and her team are fantastic in helping me organize everything. They’re also good at providing insights, ideas, and creative thought processes. They bring those to the table so that I could make decisions on what might work best for my business.
How did Witmer Group perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is impeccable. Kristina and I have standing discussions on Google Meet every Tuesday. Some days, the meetings are an hour-long, while others take only about five minutes. In terms of meeting deadlines and communicating with me as their client, I can’t ask for better partners. Kristina brings ideas to the table, and it’s difficult for me to give them anything less than a perfect score.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re the best partners I’ve ever met. They’re on time and communicative. If they need a day or a week, they tell me ahead of time so I’m not fishing for it. They’re also flexible, intuitive, and creative — they’ve truly been the best digital partners I’ve dealt with in my decade in the digital marketing space.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. Other clients may have had bumps and bruises along the way as they deal with Kristina, but I haven’t experienced any. I’ve had great interactions with Kristina and her team.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Bring in ideas to the table but be open to their ideas and concepts as well.
