An example of implementing machine learning processes in the financial industry
The aim is to bring closer the process of creating, selecting algorithms and evaluating data in order to achieve the intended goal of improving and accelerating decision-making.
For one of our clients (USA), a financing/credit provider (online) on the Amazon platform, machine learning algorithms have been developed and successfully implemented.
Our task was to streamline the already existing funding process, which consisted of engaging people to check customer data. After the analysis, the task was divided into several sub-projects, including customer analysis due to financial status, customer database churn prediction, customer sales prediction.
Summary:
Important elements in the implementation of machine learning solutions are:

Face recognition, age estimation, verification
The project consisted of the following modules :
Face detection
Within the framework of the project, an implementation of the algorithm for face detection was made. It is characterized by high speed in real time, as well as high efficiency. Additionally, it is resistant to objects covering the user’s face such as glasses or a hat.
Liveness detection (detection of user’s life span)
Based on deep learning technology, a binary classifier was made to recognize the user’s lifetime during verification. The system verifies if there is a real person on the supplied camera image. In the case where a sheet of paper with a face or a photo from the phone was shown, the algorithm did not let the user through to the next stage.
User age estimation
On the basis of the face photo, detected with the use of face detection methods, a solution has been developed to verify the age of the user. This algorithm in the precise way solves the problem of determining the age of the person, transforming the problem to the task of the multi-class classification (the supported age range is 0-100 years). The solution was based on the scientific research from the estimation of the age on the basis of the face which resulted in the development of the winning model in the contest ChaLearn LAP 2016, in which 115 teams from all over the world took part.
Age verification with the use of identity card
Using the optical character recognition system (OCR) we have made a system to verify the age of the user based on the age given in the proof. After the optical character recognition was done, the date of birth was read, on the basis of which the age of the holder of the proof was calculated.
User verification with ID card
With the use of deep learning methods we implemented an algorithm for face identification of one-shot-learning type. The model is able to determine the compatibility of the photos on the basis of only two images, although he has never seen these images. This solution was used in verification of the user with his identity card.
Open Data Portal (City of Jaworzno)

Open Data Portal (City of Rzeszów)
The Open Data system is used to run a city portal with open data. Its aim is to facilitate access to public information and the re-use (re-use) of public sector information for all interested parties. The recipient of the portal can be any internet user, without restrictions. The data published in the portal comes from different urban units. The portal serves as a repository of public data, enabling storage, interactive access and re-use through the API of the aforementioned data.
The implementation of software for publication of Open Data in the Internet is a project that was carried out for us by Whiteaster sp. z o.o. We are very satisfied with the work we have done, the professionalism and friendly approach we have met with deserves special recognition. The Whiteaster team showed a very good knowledge of aspects related to the idea of open data. The implemented Open Data portal is modern, rich in functionality, yet intuitive and easy to use
