Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a visual communication designer for a vegetable seed company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Webuildapps?
We needed to develop a mobile app that could track pests and disease for vegetables.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built two apps for us; a crop one and an experience one. The crop app is our biggest one. They built them for Android and iOS. The crop one was built for Windows, as well.
The crop app has all the pests and diseases that are known in vegetables. It is a help tool, to search for pests and diseases and helps users know what to do about them.
They continue to update the app, adding more vegetable information to the database.
How did you come to work with Webuildapps?
They built an app for a partner company of ours. They’re also nearby, which is a positive thing.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around May 2013, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app originally started with one vegetable, and now has nine, with a tenth coming soon. The market continues to ask for more, so it continues to grow. The feedback from our customers is very positive. Since it’s a tool for our customers, the main goal is to help them in the field rather than score a ton of downloads.
How did Webuildapps perform from a project management standpoint?
They do very well. I can trust that they’ll do what they say they will. Communication with them is informal; they’re close. We use Skype with video mainly, with occasional phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a young, talented department of developers. I think it's impressive that we have continued to work together so well for so many years. They do their part, and we do ours, watching the market and working as a team. They do really well at keeping us updated.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t know of anything they could have improved.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Communication is key. As long as there is open communication, there shouldn’t be a problem working together.
The project has been completely successful, fulfilling the client's requirements for the project and helping their company to continue to grow within the market in response to demand for their product. The WeBuildApps team had demonstrated dedication to their client's long-term success.
