I am the sole proprietor for Little Bee. It's an online store hosted by Shopify, and we’ve been selling mostly electronics and office supplies. It’s my side gig as I have a full-time job, but when I'm not working, I try to give a few minutes or hours to the store just to get some extra income.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebRito?

When I was starting, I got somebody right off of Shopify. The initial guys who provided me with mobile app development were from India, but there were so many mistakes that they left on. It was too slow for mobile users and there were things you would see in the store that wouldn’t appear on the website — I had to look for help elsewhere. 

I then went to one of the websites that connect freelancers, and I looked around for some people with good reviews and a good price — and that's how I landed on WebRito. I told them that the store that was designed by a group of guys from India had problems, so they had to redesign the whole thing, including downloading a new theme.

What was the scope of their involvement?

First of all, after I had contacted them, they asked for access to the store. They looked at it and tried to identify what the problems were. I gave them access to look through the store, then they tried to advise me on what I needed to do — that's where the fees and the charges came from.

They told me that the theme needed to be changed because the theme is what controls the speed of the app. We also had to make the theme mobile-friendly, because there are some things that aren’t mobile-friendly that are best suited for desktops and laptops — they actually took off the theme that was on before and got me a new one. The images I had on the store also weren’t user-friendly, and some of them would open too wide or too small, so we had to make sure all the images were of a certain resolution and a certain size.

They had to make sure that all the images can be visible to somebody using mobile and a desktop. We had to get a standard size, which was 1000 by 1000 megapixels for the images.

Moreover, they were tasked with connecting a supplier website with the Little Bee website, so that if something was bought, I wouldn't have to manually send it to the supplier. Once the payment had been made, it would just be integrated into the supplier’s system, and then all I would need to tell the supplier was the information that I needed, so the product could be shipped to the customer.

Additionally, they were able to integrate this store with a website. What we have in the store is what I, as a proprietor sees, and what’s on the website is what that customer sees — the two should be able to blend smoothly. What I have here should reflect on the other side, in a way that I know what you are seeing when you click on a particular item.

What is the team composition?

I talked to a number of people, but I was mostly dealing with two; one guy who was a developer and another who was doing marketing. I think the boss used to check on the project a couple of times too.

How did you come to work with WebRito?

I searched on the internet and found them on a freelancer website.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent anywhere between $3000–$5,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

I don't remember exactly when the partnership began, but it was around December of 2019. It ended somewhere around March of 2021, but I'll still work with them because there's something I want them to do for me right now, as I’m changing the business.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For the area that they worked on with me, I think they did a very good job and that's the only reason I would still hire them a second time. I remember the first theme they downloaded that I didn't like, because it was a theme for stuff like clothes and so on. They didn't have a problem giving me another option, which turned out to be very good — it’s the one I have right now.

How did WebRito perform from a project management standpoint?

They were actually a little cheaper than other places I had tried. They were very good budget-wise, they delivered on time, and the quality of their organization was also good because I had about two people who I was constantly in touch with — these guys were checking with me to see if what they were doing was actually what I wanted.

We used Excel to keep track of the updates, and most of the time, we communicated by phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I am almost 50 years old, and most of the time, I tried to check how old the people who are working for me are. I realized they're mostly a bunch of young guys, but frankly, the quality of their work, dedication, and determination to make sure they're delivering a good job was outstanding to me — that's why I find myself still in touch with them. When I need something, I would basically just go back to them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If they would integrate a serious part of marketing into their business, that would be great because if I’m a beginner and I have to set up my store, that store would be useless if I'm not making sales. I have a beautiful store and everything is perfect, but I have to look elsewhere for somebody to do my marketing — if they had an in-house marketing group, that would take it to the next level.

Any advice for potential customers?

If you are trying to do what I'm doing, I would absolutely advise anybody to get their services from WebRito. In my opinion, to get the best out of them, you just have to stay engaged. Always check that whenever a level is finished, go through it with them and if you need to make any changes, you don't wait until the end to go through the whole project. 

Whenever they would finish with a level, I would go through it with them and then we'll go on to the next one.

I’m the founder of Omega Walk, an online shoe store.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebRito?

We needed a professional agency to handle our Shopify development efforts.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebRito redesigned and customized our existing Shopify website. They implemented design solutions to match our new theme in pursuit of our rebranding efforts. Since we sold sports footwear, we needed a chart feature that accurately showed our customers the shoe sizes they needed. Apart from that, they also made our platform more user-friendly by implementing a custom checkout page and organizing our product listing.

WebRito delivered quick and on-point solutions that optimized our website and streamlined our processes. Our platform's speed rate not only increased but we were also able to secure a 0.4 boost in our conversation rate.

We communicated via Slack and occasionally met with WebRito's owner on Skype. WebRito strived to meet our deadlines despite the timeline challenges caused by the pandemic. There was also a time when they were short-staffed, but they still delivered our needs well.
