The PM on my project (Szymon) was excellent throughout. He communicated timelines clearly and always kept me abreast of any developments or blockers. Great mix of communication via messaging app with the occasional video call. Responsiveness was also perfect, I'd always receive a response on the same day and usually within a few hours.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

WAYF had a great eye for detail, good taste and a perfect amount of pragmatism. They nailed the most important requirements and the team went the extra mile to ensure we were ultimately satisfied with the outcome.

Nothing really to add here.

We are a temporary employment agency that has built a proprietary and innovative tool for remote recruitment and employment of contractors for short simple jobs for a few hours or days - strefajob.pl. I'm a PM who manages the system.

For what projects/services did your company hire WAYF, and what were your goals?

We have started cooperation with WAYF in order to build a mobile application for the strefajob.pl portal.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

WAYF had experience in building mobile applications and had a similar project behind them. In addition, the talks preceding the cooperation were very specific, it was clear that our needs were understood, what gave us hope for a good and effective cooperation. We were not wrong - it was a good choice.

At the beginning we had a lot of discovery meetings to discuss our needs and goals. A backlog and mock-ups were prepared for us, which we were analysing, changing if necessary and finally accepting. Then our partner was working on the application, consulting if there were any doubts. Finally, after a few months, we received the application for testing and after their positive completion, we implemented it in stores.

The team consisted of several people - programmers, UX designer and at the end a delivery manager.

I evaluate the whole cooperation, communication and final effects very positively. Professional approach, egagement, open and honest communication, flexibility - these are just some of the characteristics of WAYF.

The style of cooperation is very flexible, which is needed in the dynamics of today's times. but at the same time caring for the predetermined business goal. We mainly used Slack for communication, short meetings were held from time to time.

Flexible approach, understanding our needs and transparent communication.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

On both sides, we drew the right conclusions on what we could do better - first of all, discuss the scope in even more detail at the very beginning of the work and extend the tests on the supplier's side. But these are the only minor changes we could possibly make in the future.

I am a COO of a cryptocurrency company that allows easy tokenization, token creation, and investing in early stage projects.

For what projects/services did your company hire WAYF?

Initially, we've hired Wayfinding to create a simple mobile app for our cryptocurrency wallet. Over time it grew to something more serious. Wayf also redesigned our mobile wallet, created a design system, and helped us with the designs.

How did you select this vendor?

I was looking for a software house that could create our app as quickly as possible. Thats why I've aimed for a small to medium size company. Wayfinding was recommended to me by one of my colleagues who happened to work there.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

After a couple of emails and calls, we've had everything sorted out, and development started very quickly - that was our aim. We've also initially prepared some of our own designs, but they had to be adjusted by the Wayfinding to look much better than our work.

Currently, we are regularly adding new features to our mobile app. Design new features of our web application, and Wayfinding is also very open to design things besides initial agreements on an hourly basis.

We've gradually moved from 1 to 3 persons currently, with Chris and Pawel doing supporting activities or sometimes acting as a replacement for a team member. We now have two graphic designers and one full-stack developer, working part time on our projects.

The mobile app they developed has over 100,000 downloads with an average rating of 4,7 stars. Also every of their designs are eye pleasing, and very functional.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was great, we were getting constant info about the progress, we could comment at any moment. They are always willing to help and have a call if needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I really enjoy working on the UI designs with Wayfinding. The amount of high quality work they can produce in a short amount of time is impressive. They are also very versatile, I believe there is nothing digital that they cannot design.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing, besides minor delays that happened at the beginning of our cooperation.

My company consults with clients on different kinds of projects. I am the CEO and I’m a one-person team.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wayfinding?

I have a client that has an online portal for the IT industry in German-speaking regions. They wanted to recreate and modernize the entire portal, as well as revamp its design to be better focused on their target market. 

However, I’m not a UX designer. I understand UX and know what needs to be done, but I don’t have a team to implement my ideas. As such, I needed to outsource tasks on UX, graphic, and website design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wayfinding is creating the platform’s UX elements, and they provide consultation on the useability of an asset. They tell us what works and what doesn’t, and explain why. 

Before we even started looking for a UX designer, we had already conducted background work for the project. I used my experience in marketing strategy to research our target market, so we understood who we are reaching and what are the things we must do when we create the portal. 

What is the team composition?

I work with at least two people from Wayfinding, but we mostly work with one teammate. 

How did you come to work with Wayfinding?

We had several deciding factors on choosing to work with Wayfinding. First, we needed them to have experience working with a portal since a portal requires more attention to detail than a website. The second factor was that they had to have a quick turnaround. Another one from my client was that they had to allow us to be a part of the process and have our inputs considered.

Since we have a multinational team, we needed them to capable of speaking in English. We also wanted to have a good feeling working and communicating with them, and that we understood each other very quickly. We interviewed 6–8 different companies, each for 30–60 minutes because we wanted to make sure that we could work with the vendor.   

I had gone out in my network and asked for referrals, and Wayfinding was recommended by another small company. My client and I had initial meetings with their team, and we decided to take them as our outsourced provider for UX elements and graphic design.

How much have you invested with them?

I’m not entirely sure since my client pays them. However, the budget for the whole project is around €35,000–€40,000 (approximately $42,000–$47,000 USD).  

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2020 and it is ongoing. We've recently made more orders after they completed a task.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We appreciate that technology-wise, the project has been a collaborative activity. We could open up the portal and make changes on the spot. We don’t have to wait for another week to see our changes. If it is really important to change something immediately, we can do it ourselves in real-time.

How did Wayfinding perform from a project management standpoint?

We used emails, video calls, and Slack for communication. Wayfinding accommodates us with our request to have weekly calls and predetermined talking points. They go through all our concerns and we don’t feel we can’t talk about them. We never feel pressured during meetings about hurrying up since they’ve got another client scheduled. 

When we began the project, we had an idea. They built its first iteration, but it didn’t go exactly the way we wanted. We were scared because we had just hired them and we didn’t know how they worked. However, it was very easy for us to say what we didn’t like about that iteration. The next iteration came back and it was more spot-on with what we wanted to have. 

For us, those are important measurements of the project’s success. We’re a small client and we didn’t have money or time to waste. Wayfinding satisfied us every single time for those priorities. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wayfinding didn’t just take the scope and return with a product. They are very flexible and allow us to participate; they trust us enough that we’re not going to ask for something out of scope. I’ve already referred Wayfinding to my other clients since I enjoy working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Wayfinding is a new company and they have a young team. I enjoy working with them since they have fresh ideas. Not that they need to change anything, but any young company will benefit by finally going through the experience of increasing their clients and from that adjusting their processes. I don’t have anything to complain about their processes, though. If I had a complaint, I feel very comfortable discussing it with their team.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

This isn’t necessarily about Wayfinding, but you need to stay professional and know what you're doing. You can’t outsource your project and leave all the responsibility to the external company. If you’re not happy with the result, you can’t blame that on the vendor. You have to take some responsibility as a company to understand what you’re trying to do. 

Just know what you need, and be open, flexible, and calm. Don’t be annoying and arrogant.

Our Goal was to get a new design for our portal. It should be easy to use and have a modern design.

We found Wayfinding on a social media plattform. We had calls with different design agencies. With Wayfinding we had the best feeling to get exactly what we want. Wayfinding was the agencie with the youngest team and we believed that they will deliver the best solution for a modern design.

After we selected the agency, we had a meeting with the owner to make a time schedule for the project. We gave him all documents we developed before. We wanted to get the new design page by page to see any steps.

After we got the first page, we had a meeting about some basic changes for the design. Once we got the final first page, we were happy that all other pages were designed exactly what expected.

It was me, the CEO of the client. My colleague to support me and the owner of the agency we hired.

We got all pages in the new design. The design process is completed, but the page is not yet online.

The workflow was good. We had some online meetings and we were connected on Slack. Sometimes we had to wait a day more for a final new page. If we asked to have a meeting, they always had time.

I was happy to see completely new homepage with a modern design. It was impressive how fast and easy they implemented new ideas.

Sometimes we had one or two days delay. But he wanted to do it right and that needs time.
