VicRoads

VicTraffic iPhone, Android & Web App

Wave created a suite of traffic apps for VicRoads that intelligently integrates real-time information to a large number of concurrent users. The multi-award winning web, iPhone and Android apps present travel and emergency information to help motorists plan, save, and predict their routes. VicTraffic is used by hundreds of thousands of Victorians each year,

allowing motorists to plan their journeys, make wise decisions and keep Victoria’s roads moving.

“What really impressed me was that despite the fact
I had some solid ideas about how I thought things could/should work on the site, Wave were able to suggest alternatives based on their skills/knowledge/ experience. Invariably, that’s what we would go with!”

— Kerilyn Wyatt, Communications & Stakeholder Relations, VicRoads

Healthily

GoShare Healthcare Web App

Wave Digital was commissioned to build a responsive web content health education and content distribution platform – GoShare Healthcare. The platform securely and seamlessly distributes thousands of pieces of health content to thousands of end users, helping patients better manage chronic illness. It is used by over 40 peak health organisations across Australia,

including Medibank, MLC, NSW Health Central Coast & Western Sydney, and PHN Western Sydney.

The platform enables clinicians and other health professionals to easily and securely share a variety of tailored health information with patients, including storytelling videos, fact sheets, and explanatory animations. GoShare is a flexible and secure tool that can support disease management, hospital readmissions prevention, and corporate health and well-being programs.

ANMF

Diary iPhone & Android App

Wave worked with the ANMF (Vic Branch) to develop an iPhone and Android app that updated existing paper-driven systems and processes to help their 76,000+ members streamline their daily duties. The ANMF is Australia’s peak professional and industrial organisation for Nurses and Midwives. Working alongside members, we built an ANMF Diary app – a handy mobile toolkit for

nurses and midwives. The app is packed with useful features including a digital diary, dosage calculator, customisable shift planner, public holiday information, and access to news and ANMF event information and registration. The diary can also be synced with the member’s phone calendar information for extra functionality.

“Wave Digital is a great partner to us. ... We were confident Wave Digital could deliver the best product, and we haven’t been disappointed.”

Lisa Fitzpatrick, Victorian Branch Secretary, ANMF (Vic Branch)

South East Water

OneAsset Web App

South East Water provides water and sewerage services to over 1.3 million Melbournians. They required a new web-based framework to host and display various asset management and operational systems and other related data to provide real-time visibility and business analysis. OneAsset is a web app that provides a powerful and flexible framework that can be extended to incorporate future

applications. It is a systems integration and data visualisation framework, used as a tool for South East Water operators to quickly and easily view information about its network of assets such as pipes, pumps and gates.

eHealth NSW

SafeSnap iPhone App

We worked with clinicians and e-Health technologists to design an iPhone app that improves patient outcomes and enhances clinical information security. SafeSnap is like SnapChat for doctors. A top-end mobile experience gives clinicians the choice to collaborate without resorting to less secure channels like SMS, WhatsApp or email. The technical architecture is

tailored to a scalable but also highly specific design that fully supports best-in-class secure image management.

“Wave brought great energy and creativity to our design process. They were able to engage with our users, act quickly on feedback, and design an app that we are excited about.”

– Stuart Jones, Senior Initiative Manager – Innovation, eHealth NSW

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Second Ears iPhone App

We worked with the Cancer Experiences Research (CER) group at Peter Mac to develop an iPhone app to enable patients to better understand and recall information provided during their cancer treatment journey.

The Second Ears mobile app allows patients to more actively participate in treatment decision making thereby improving the quality of their

care. It enables patients to record consultations, add notes, share this information with family and carers, and categorise their appointments. The iPhone app integrates with Peter Mac’s medical record and other IT systems, and adheres to their InfoSec policies.

“We were extremely happy with our final product, the design consultation and process, and the team at Wave. We would recommend their services without hesitation.”

– Amelia Hyatt, Senior Research Officer, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

In addition to creating an intuitive UX/UI design, Wave Digital delivered a set of technical documentation that would serve as a guide for future development. The team also offered critical insights throughout the process, which yielded invaluable business innovations.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the managing director of Tradex Australia, a FinTech startup that provides an online trade account platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in B2B markets. It’s a unique digital service offering that covers invoice factoring as well as asset and credit financing via website, mobile, and in-store services.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Wave Digital?

We engaged Wave Digital to produce a product strategy and roadmap for our FinTech web app, including brand and messaging assets, ideation services, UX design, technical design, and visual design.

What were your goals for this project?

The objective of the project was to develop a technical specification that will guide software development. In the process, we also needed to design the UI/UX to intuitively facilitate our services.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I searched online for web developers in Melbourne, shortlisted three providers, and had high-level discussions with each company’s manager about our concept.

When I met with Guy Cooper (Managing Director, Wave Digital), he was enthusiastic to discuss our project in detail. He had valuable previous experience as the CFO for some very successful startups, and I was convinced to go with Wave Digital due to Guy’s development roadmap.

Describe the project in detail.

After completing the ideation phase, we worked with Wave Digital to develop the specification for the UI/UX design. Our service model is quite novel, so some of the processes will be foreign to most, if not all, of our users. This meant that we had to design interfaces that would be simple and intuitive, while facilitating all necessary functions.

We had an initial meeting with Wave Digital to discuss our requirements followed by two additional meetings to review and iterate the completed work. Then, we planned the next steps to refine our UX/UI concept. Finally, they produced a comprehensive specification document, including numerous interface designs that will guide the software development phase.

What was the team composition?

There were four people involved in this project. Their roles were: client liaison, product manager, UI/UX designer, and developer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’re very happy with the outcome. The process of developing the specification, and the document itself, was key in creating an intuitive UI/UX design that would deliver our services in an elegant way. The resulting documentation would also guide future software development.

Additionally, many of the discussions that we had with Wave Digital, and the feedback they provided, led to business model innovations that have substantially increased our value proposition.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

During the UX/UI design process, we were in frequent contact with their client liaison and product manager, providing feedback and suggesting iterations. We had to go through a lot of trial and error, but Wave Digital was aware of this and adapted well to our needs. They set a clear timeline at the beginning of the project, so there was no ambiguity about when phases were to be completed.

Communication was easy and enjoyable. We exchanged emails multiple times per week, and they were always quick to respond. Occasionally, we had phone calls in addition to our face-to-face meetings. We found their input to be extremely valuable.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Being a startup, we were unfamiliar with the processes of developing a UI/UX design. However, Wave Digital deftly guided us through the engagement. They were fantastic in keeping us focused on the task at hand, and their team did an excellent job of translating our ideas into a polished technical specification.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Our experience was excellent, and we can't think of any areas in which Wave Digital was lacking.

Feedback summary:

Wave Digital outpaced the target timeline to deliver a flawless end product. Since launch, the app has yet to see a download failure, despite users' inherent limited internet access working in the field. A neutral design and country-specific access options ensure white labeling and IP protection.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Therapeutic Guidelines Limited (TGL) is a not-for-profit organization that supports the creation and dissemination of independent therapeutic information. I manage the Developing Countries Program, which provides low- and middle-income countries access to the information and support they need to develop their own local guidelines.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Wave Digital?

Wave Digital designed and developed our company's new mobile app. It's tailored specifically for medical prescribers in developing countries. We requested a user-friendly product with minimal technical complexity. Notably, we needed the product to be extensible and future-proof.

What were your goals for this project?

Our app aims to empower healthcare professionals working abroad in countries with less available resources. It offers them easy access to a digital version of their own local guidelines (and other similar publications), from anywhere in the world.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We chose Wave Digital based on the quality of their prior work within the health sector. The design solution they proposed demonstrated a thorough understanding of our needs. They seemed to have the right abilities to meet all our technical requirements.

Describe the project in detail.

Wave Digital's comprehensive range of services included strategy, design, development, warranty, and support. They programmed our app for both iOS and Android. Notable functions include navigation with search and sort capacity for content that falls within one or more guidelines. Users can view the detailed contents of each guideline and access information about the app itself.

Outside the app's functional requirements, Wave Digital added offline and country-specific restricted access options to ensure the IP address is protected. They designed a neutral frontend to facilitate white labeling and legal use in a wide range of countries. The app is built for CMS capability, and to simplify adding guidelines for future participating nations in the future at minimal cost. Since the product delivery earlier in 2018, they've provided ongoing hosting and maintenance.

What was the team composition?

Wave Digital assigned five people to our project. We worked with a client liaison, a product and project manager, a UI/UX designer, and one developer each for iOS and Android.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're pleased with the app Wave Digital has built. There have been zero reports about any difficulties with downloading or using the app amongst our user base. Our target population is, by definition, located in countries with poor internet accessibility and functionality. Based on this record so far, the final app iteration seems to meet the outlined needs perfectly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We were impressed with their level of communication and commitment to creating the app to our exact requirements. Wave Digital consistently dedicated their time and effort to keep us updated on the progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Wave Digital's knowledgeable staff worked diligently to rapidly deliver well before the scheduled deadline.
