Clime

Climes are mini battery-powered sensors that are able to measure variables such as temperature, humidity, light or motion. Setting-up is as simple as sticking a Clime sensor to a surface and letting it communicate all of its handy environmental readings to the Clime app via Bluetooth 4.0. We equipped it with a battery that can easily work for up to 1.5 years and is interchangeable.

Photon

The first toy robot in the history that develops along with your child. Equipped with sensors, that enable interaction with environment and offer various additional features that are unlocked along with your child’s development.

The user communicates with Photon through the “Photon-Human Translator”® (a smartphone application). The robot presents a unique story with gradually harder

challenges. All stories have been developed with the involvement of educators, psychologists, and game specialists. Thanks to 13 programmable sensors you can send Photon on specific missions like going through a maze while detecting obstacles or to follow a child’s hand as Photon passes safely through hazardous lava filled cave!

Lovely

Lovely is a smart wearable sex toy for couples that enriches the intimate aspect of our lives.

It monitors various movements and variables during the intercourse and then analyses collected data via a paired mobile app.  Apart from storing the history of owner’s love life it also provides him or her with personalized tips and various trivia based on what it learned (such as calories burned during sex or

user’s average speed).

Thanks to the Soundi iOS and Android app you can adjust the sound parameters just the way you

like them.

Project Orient

The idea is based on wireless weather sensors measuring variables like temperature and air humidity. Entire web of such sensors placed in various districts and landmarks would create a dynamically changing weather map of the city available on a website. People browsing it could learn when it’s good time to go sightseeing or if you can play full basketball match on a local court before it starts raining.

Koala Metrics

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the CEO of Lovely Inc., the company behind Lovely - a smart sex toy and app that provides couples with personalized tips & tricks on how to have even better sex.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what reason(s) did your company hire VORM?

We needed help with industrial design, iOS & Android app development, website coding, and various branding activities.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to go from prototype of Lovely to mass production in China.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We were introduced through a referral from an industrial design friend.

Describe the project in detail.

We had the initial shape of Lovely ready, however, it needed to be polished and made manufacture-ready. We had some meetings, both in person and online, to discuss our requirements, give feedback and progress with our work. As for the app, VORM created it from the ground up following our benchmarks and instructions.

What was the team composition?

We worked directly with the people responsible for each specific task, which was our preferred way of contact to speed up the communication and feedback loop. Later on, when the project grew, we were assigned a project manager who helped to liaise with their team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We made it from prototype to actual sales of Lovely, which is quite a complicated wearable, in less than 9 months. Both apps were also finished on time. Everything worked very well and anything that needed ironing-out was fixed shortly after launch.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Overall, it was an effective workflow, performed in a satisfactory manner. Sometimes there were some delays, but nothing to fret about.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They make beautiful things and have a great design team. They can also provide a comprehensive support at each stage of IoT development - from the idea to production.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Sometimes things take longer than expected so if there's anything to improve, it would be getting things done faster - although I understand it's not always possible.
