I’m the founder and director of My Property Survey, and we arrange any type of survey that focuses on property management and real estate.
What challenge were you trying to address with VMAL?
We wanted to portray our company the right way, so we needed help with our branding.
What was the scope of their involvement?
VMAL has been helping us with the full rebranding process of our company, and the development of our advertising and marketing collaterals such as business cards, pamphlets, and folder cases. We initially had a discussion about the project, then they provided us with brand guidelines. After that, they came up with the color scheme, logo, and overall theme.
What is the team composition?
We work with Darren (Director) and Tom and Adam provided us with the logo design.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a director of a waste management company. We work mainly with offices, industrial companies, shops, retailers, and so on. We take care of all their waste removal, bin contracts, skip hire, and other waste management aspects.
What challenge were you trying to address with VMAL?
We hired VMAL because we needed help with our webpage. We wanted to extend our market reach online — we had quite a bit of a customer base already, but we built most of that through word of mouth, cold calling, and sales reps.
We've never had a very strong presence online, so our focus was to rebrand our company in an attempt to get some traffic in through the website and build up a new clientele.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They do design work on our website, however, I’m not sure what platform it was built on. We had a website already, but they revamped the design using our company colors and changed the text and images.
Additionally, they rebranded the face of our company as a whole, making sure that our tone of voice and what we represent carries through. They’ve also created a logo to represent us.
What is the team composition?
We work primarily with two people, Darren (Director) and Rachel (Copywriter).
How did you come to work with VMAL?
They were recommended to me by a customer of ours.
How much have you invested with them?
We have spent close to $8,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our project started in September 2020, and it’s ongoing. The website was basically up and running by January 2021, but we’re still not fully finished.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our website is still new, so I'm not seeing lots of new business from it, but we have a few new clients from the Internet. However, we’ve been using the new branding on our emails and our advertising and we’ve gotten positive feedback from existing clients.
We feel VMAL’s work changed our image in the customer’s eyes — we come across as a much stronger company. We recently had a customer who we’ve been working with for a while and they’ve hired us to manage a few more areas that we haven’t serviced yet, too.
VMAL has been able to deliver a well-made and aesthetically pleasing website, and they did a great job with the branding and the logo design. Their work has boosted us a lot in terms of identity; we feel that our company changed its approach because our tone of voice and what we stand for is clearer.
How did VMAL perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is pretty good. Most of our communication has been through Zoom meetings, but we also correspond through email and phone calls. Honestly, with COVID-19 it’s been more difficult, but they give us a lot of their time for free, which some companies wouldn’t do.
Sometimes their work was a bit late, but that was mostly on our end. We had a lot of different ideas for our website, so we took our time with that. On their end, they manage it pretty well and are timely.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They give a lot more than what they promise. Most companies we’ve worked with previously have done the opposite; they say a lot and we have to put up a fight to get the work. However, with VMAL, they underpromise and go above and beyond. The cost of their service increased at some point, but overall, they still give us more than what they charge us.
They are friendly, approachable people — they communicate with us a lot, which is not included in the pricing, so we're very fond of them. They show care and work on our business like it’s their own.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We don't really have anything negative to say about them. Again, they’ve gone above and beyond for us.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s handy for the customer to know upfront exactly what they are looking for, so they can work out the price at the start, rather than having increased costs midway through the project. We ended up changing our minds a few times and wanting to add more, so we definitely understand why VMAL had to charge extra.

We reached out to VMAL because we needed a branded website that made us more unique than other logistics companies.

VMAL is creating our website and brand design assets completely from scratch. So far, they’ve completed the logos, and we’re still working with them on the site.

My partner recommended VMAL to me. He’d run a few businesses and had heard good things about them.

The timeline got thrown off due to COVID-19, but we started working with them in August 2020. The engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re extremely satisfied. My partner, who has more experience in running businesses, believes that they’re the best logo designer he’s worked with. The different options we’ve seen have been fantastic.
How did VMAL perform from a project management standpoint?
The communication is very friendly and casual. It’s not just business — they actually take the time to get to know us so that they can make things work.
For example, we originally had a name that we were satisfied with, but it didn’t necessarily fit the style and tone that we were looking for. Darren pushed us to explore other options, and we ended up with a much better name. It’s that extra personal care that we appreciated.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Unlike other service providers, they’re very accommodating when it comes to making changes. If we want to modify something, he’ll be understanding of our needs, provide several options, and then recommend why one option is better than the other.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything in particular. It’s hard to judge them with the pandemic causing openings and closings.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Deal with them in a friendly, open way. Darren gives great advice and has even provided suggestions on how to go about my company. It’s that type of relationship — very casual and personal — that I found fantastic.

We needed marketing and publicity services from them.
What was the scope of their involvement?
It was their job to produce a series of advertisements for our company for publication in various magazines relevant to our services. To start, we discussed the message that I want to send to our audience. I provided some keywords and ideas for the copy.
From there, they converted them into several ads that we fine-tuned together. The ads were part of a campaign we set up internally, they were contracted to handle the artwork and layout for them once they were placed. We ended up with three final ads.
