Jaywalk
An app that tracks health and wealth.
The client wanted an app-based social network that connects users with unique health-related sensors and rewards them with discounts for their activity. We consulted with Jaywalk to build their business model and network of participating locations while simultaneously building their technical solution from stem to stern.
The app had to run on both Android and iOS and it had to be rock solid and location accurate. Using a combination of Swift, Java, and Django, the team put together all the parts needed to build an app that looked like a million bucks and cost much less.
To achieve the incentive for participation, we developed JayCoin—the company's internal currency to pay users. More than just payment though, it is a virtual bank that keeps track of balances in real time.
Android and iOS apps came together in a few months and suddenly Jaywalk users walked over 100,000 miles using the app. Not bad for a health startup.

CMG
CMG is a large, full-service creative agency in Pula, Croatia with over 200 employees. They manage the international websites of many top American companies and brands.
These multi-language localized sites needed to be modernized to make updates more efficient. However, CMG was not sure of the best way to move forward, strategically or operationally.
We engaged in three separate projects for CMG.
- A project to come on site, assess CMG’s approach to digital product development, and design a technical strategy to transform their digital development approach to an Agile Methodology.
- A project to design a technical solution and coding approach to modernize their client websites.
- A project to use our developers to execute the building of the new client websites on their behalf and in tandem with their own development team.
The result was that, not only did CMG become more efficient as a team after Visible Magic’s consultation, but the product they delivered (and continue to deliver as our partners) remains scalable, fast, and secure.

CheapTranscription
A team needed a quick and easy solution for transcription. We helped architect a technical and business solution that was viable, affordable, and profitable.
Our experience in machine learning allowed us to wire up a workable solution that transcribes high-quality recordings in a matter of minutes with high accuracy.
We also built a business solution for those times when consumers wanted the human touch. We solved the business challenges of hiring people to do extremely nuanced work with a minimum of back-and-forth.
After completing the MVP in just a few days, we went on to fully productize the offering and create the cheapest and fastest transcription platform on the Internet.

Patience's Journey (for Adept Marketing)
A highly interactive website design that utilized looping, fullscreen background video as well as ambient sound effects and more.

Fabric / Energy
Managing new energy sources is a massive task. We created a system that meters, maintains, and controls the way energy is used globally.
The client needed blockchain-enabled IoT nodes to create a power usage marketplace.
We built a robust, AWS-backed, check-in app that went far beyond prototype to a fully productized offering that can support hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users.
We interacted with the company's smart energy meters in order to create an end-to-end solution for the project.

Ticon 100
TICON needed a solution to build a financial information and ratings service that provides news, market data, and research for cryptocurrencies.
Crypto is a unique market. Many users depend on desktop experiences to research and trade but often use mobile devices for updates. We built a powerful desktop-first solution that could also be used on a mobile device.
This app had to be beautiful and clear. We built a solution that was easy-to-understand and information-dense.

HypeHop
HypeHop pays real cash to users who watch videos online. It watches users as they watch the videos and rewards their time and attention.
We built a crypto-based platform that uses facial recognition technology to ensure that users who signed up actually watched the videos they agreed to watch.
The video stops if the viewer looks away and, once the video is done, viewers can be scored for attentiveness and interest.
In order to keep users incentivized to participate, they are instantly paid by cryptocurrency.

Custom RFP Planning and Response
Mindstream Interactive is a full-service creative agency in central Ohio. They have a solid clientele and all the classic digital agency skill sets, but at the time were missing a few specializations—especially in mobile app development and associated best practices.
An RFP came their way, requiring a high degree of mobile app planning, development chops, and general know-how. Mindstream reached out to us to help them plan a technology approach and RFP response. They also tapped us, as a visible partner, to help present the proposal to the client; a top tier, soft-goods retailer.
We helped develop, not only the mobile app approach, strategy, roadmap, and pricing structure, but we also helped develop a creative RFP response that utilized and delivered a live web application that mimicked a mobile app, so the brand could easily visualize what our combined companies would do for them. Mindstream also asked the the mobile web site could act as a way for stake holders to customize how the RFP pitch was actually presented to them (a really creative idea).

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a program director of an agency that provides web and digital development services for big international clients. We’re responsible from the discovery phase up to the final development of their projects. We also provide clients with maintenance and upgrading services.
What challenge were you trying to address with Visible Magic LLC?
We called up Visible Magic for their expertise in certain fields where we cannot deliver.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’re working with Visible Magic on the development side of the project. They bring in a high level of knowledge on the technological stack that’s dependent on the scope and requirement of the project. Some of the specific requirements that we’ve worked on are security issues, usability, and accessibility.
What is the team composition?
I work directly with Jay (Co-Founder & COO) and Viktor (CTO). We also work with other developers from their team, depending on the range of the project.
How did you come to work with Visible Magic LLC?
I found them when I joined my company through other outsourcing partners. I then tested them to see how they can impact my daily work and from there, I continued to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around £200,000 (approximately $270,200 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The ongoing partnership with Visible Magic started in November 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Visible Magic has been helping us meet our goals. They deliver their tasks on time and we’re fully satisfied with their work — otherwise, we wouldn’t be working with them.
How did Visible Magic LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
We work directly with the development team and sometimes we face complex problems we need to resolve. However, it’s been good and we don’t have any issues with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re impressed with their technology stack, because whatever the challenge is, they cover a wide range of solutions for our needs, and they do pretty much everything we ask for. They have really good knowledge of the field.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’m not sure, but if there is, we’ll discuss it and try to optimize. We have pretty good and open communications with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you plan to work with Visible Magic, make sure to clearly define the requirements and the scope of the work. We witness a lot of MVP and agile approaches to project management, which means sometimes clients don’t know what they want. I think that a proper definition and planning can improve any kind of project.
This is not specific to Visible Magic, but I see a lot of clients experiencing this problem due to lack of communication.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I work for Mindstream Interactive a CX and digital agency based in Columbus, OH. I am currently the Director, Client Growth focusing on new business and marketing for the agency.
For what projects/services did your company hire Visible Magic LLC?
We brought in Visible Magic to help build out our development capabilities for a large retail partner.
What were your goals for this project?
The project was an RFP response and corresponding pitch. Our ultimate goal was to show our combined capabilities and what we could collectively bring to bare for the client.
How did you select Visible Magic LLC?
We have a past relationship with Jay Donovan, one of their founding partners. Upon talking to Jay and the larger team they are a skilled app shop that brought the dev chops we needed for the project.
Describe the project in detail.
This partner is foucsed the digitally savvy Gen-X crowd. They have an immersive app experience currently but struggled with a seamless ecomm UI. Additionally, there is a strong loyalty component that needs a thoughtful content strategy to keep people coming back, interacting and buying from this retailer.
What was the team composition?
Jay helped lead the response team. He pulled other key subject matter experts to help flush out the response and audit of the current infrastructure. The whole team was always accessible and willing to dig in to try to address the detailed requirements of the RFP response.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Being it is an RFP response, we were successful at showing case our abilities via the written response which resulted in us being shortlisted. Once shortlisted, we were asked to formally pitch the work and the Visible Magic team was there each step of the way. Additionally, for the final pitch we wanted to show case our work and thinking and had an idea for a quick responsive site that helped playful articulate some of the key components of our response. The Visible Magic team offered to take it on and knocked it out over a few nights and weekends. It came together quickly and really helped set us a part from the competition.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was very smooth. The team was on all the calls (kick-off through content review and budget creation). They were always quick to offer thoughts and insights that enhanced our response.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their speed an nimbleness. It is clear they have a very capable dev team but to respond quickly when this is not the only thing they have going on was great.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They were consummate professionals at every step of the way. Nothing that could be improved upon from my POV.
Since partnering with Visible Magic LLC, the company is able to consistently achieve their goals. The internal stakeholders are particularly impressed with how the team is able to consistently deliver their tasks on schedule. Overall, it's been a smooth and seamless partnership.
