A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Praslas, a lumber trade company. We have a softwood and hardwood production based in Lithuania and import lumber from Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. We sell to different countries—the biggest market is the Scandinavian Peninsula but we also have many clients elsewhere in Europe, South Korea, and the Middle East. We’re now entering the US market and I’m visiting potential customers for softwood and importing American hardwoods to Europe.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Visata?

As the company grows, it’s more difficult to manage all the information coming in from different sources, including production, trade, orders, invoicing, and accounting. I made the decision to create a program and have been working on this project for over a year. I hired a local company at first but didn’t succeed with them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Visata has worked on the creation of an ERP [enterprise resource management] and CRM [customer relationship management] system that is made into 5 different modules: purchasing, sales, logistics, accounting, and production. Production is split into planning and production itself. We’ve made a lot of progress now and I’m very happy with them.

How did you come to work with Visata?

I started talking to Visata last year and started the project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We now can see information online such as sales, available stock, and order statuses. Everything now works automatically, from getting orders and sending those to the trucking system to the delivery of goods to the end customer.

We save time by using this software and are able to increase our business without limits thanks to its flexibility. The system also allows us to build a bigger production.

We’ve increased our business by 30% within 7 months and have reached €46 million [approx. U.S. $56 million] in income this year compared to €32 million [approx. US $39 million] last year for the same period.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the IT director at Parcel ABC, a postal operator company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Visata?

We hired them to develop postal connectors between our system and other postal companies.

What were your goals for this project?

We were aiming to improve parcel flow through our postal platform and therefore increase the company's gross income.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

My business partner recommended Visata, saying they were a very professional and responsible company.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Visata developed connectors between Parcel ABC’s core and different postal operators in countries like Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Spain.

What was the team composition?

The initial team consisted of two PHP developers and a project manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Every connector increased our gross income by 2–3%. With every six new connectors, we increase our gross income at least 13–15%.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

It’s easy to communicate with their project manager, who is certified by the Project Management Institute. Also, their team always meets deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most remarkable thing about them is that their development team is very professional, highly organized, and responsive.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

We have a particularly small but still ongoing collaboration for developing connectors upon request. I haven’t found anything they need to improve yet.
