We had serious issues keeping track of stock, forecasting and delivery management, so looked to switch to a new ERP and came across Odoo, we initially went with the regional office and bought one of their "Success Packs" once implementation was done, the ongoing support was almost non existent, we then searched for an alternative provider and found Uncanny who have helped us customise our ERP to be exactly what we need.
They have customised reports, fixed bugs, developed apps and all within the timeframes they estimate, they are also extremely responsive when support is needed urgently.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We found them through referral on a freelancer site and they were the only ones who offered a free initial call and provided real life examples of solutions they could offer.

They customised our Odoo ERP from top to bottom, we wanted custom report formats which they did entirely through code to future proof it, as well as developed and installed a range of applications to boost the functionality of our ERP. They even made suggestions on tweaks and changes we could do to improve things as well as cut down on their time sheet, which is rare as most want to bill as much as possible.

There were 4 people in the core team and I believe an additional 5 working on the back end.

Project management is excellent, we only deal with two main people and they then assemble their workforce so we dont have lots of messages and emails going back and forth. They are predominantly on WhatsApp which is ideal as our entire team runs on it.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the finance manager at Optimal Connectivity LLC, an optimal connectivity solution company. We do fiber optics, radio frequency, and low-frequency manufacturing. We have an extensive customer base and 12,000 products; many of them are variants of each other.

What challenge were you trying to address with Uncanny Consulting Services LLP?
From the beginning, it was important to have a proper ERP system where we could log all the changes, load multiple products, and maintain our CRM, accounting, purchases, and so on. On top of that, we had to manage work orders and track the quality.
We’d been using Odoo since 2012; we were one of the first companies in UA to use it. We chose Odoo because it was a sound ERP system for a good price. It was a free license at the time, and we were doing our own configurations. When it became commercial, the configurations increased. We needed to do some modifications, but we couldn’t do them, so we needed to outsource the work.
We’d changed from version 11 to 12, and our reports weren’t coming in the required format. We couldn’t solve that issue with the programmer we were working with at the time.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we told Uncanny Consulting Services LLP the report format we wanted. They’ve helped with a large modification and designed a custom module that adapts with every version change. It automatically gives an alarm that it’ll be upgraded. Since 2019, they’ve helped us move from version to version; we’re currently on version 14.
They’ve also helped us with many other modifications and improvements on our manufacturing module. We’ve had some changes in our products and contact list. In the UA, we have PO box numbers, not street names. However, the standard Odoo doesn’t come with that. Therefore, we purchased a module that helps modify these fields, but it wasn't working correctly. Uncanny Consulting Services LLP advised us that it’d be cheaper to go with the custom module they made for us.

Compared with other programmers, we’ve had a high-quality experience. We were paying almost double for the other programmers who weren’t even delivering good quality. Moreover, they’re great with modifications. We’ve saved a lot of money because we don’t have to invest in a new server every year.

They’re very responsive. When we tell them it’s urgent, they devise a solution in 1–2 days. We can call them at any time, and they’re available. We communicate via WhatsApp, email, Google Meet, and Zoom.

They’re good with sales purchases and accounting modules, which I haven’t seen with other programmers.

No, everything has been good so far. Maybe they should have a branch in UA; they’d do really well.

One or two bugs popped up when the old and new software didn't work well together, but Uncanny Consulting Services resolved the issue quickly.

Uncanny Consulting Services was very responsive — they're still answering questions about issues we're having now. Usually, we communicated through Slack and Google Meet. We were happy with the periodic calls we had with them and the status updates they gave. My team used ClickUp to manage the project, but Uncanny Consulting Services used a different tool. Their billing was as expected.

Uncanny Consulting builds and improves our ERP system's features. Mainly they create customization's that help improve our processes and how our users interact with the system.

We found them through Upwork.com and they already had good reviews and charged a fair rate. We sent them some test projects, and we were pleased with the rapid response and quality of code.

The scope changes over time depending on the project. We have had them implement many different types of projects, covering sales, manufacturing, and inventory control. I provide them requirements, they ask any questions to ensure they understand my requirements and then normally provide me a functional test within a day or two.
Any bugs or misunderstandings are then quickly round and removed after our testing.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We work directly with one person, our assigned project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We submit small projects continually, and they have all been achieved and their rapid turn around on the small projects helped us upgrade our system to a 4 years newer version.

I provide them written requirements and they provide me results within the next few days. We have not needed any project management, as we maintain that ourselves. They do commit their code to our git repository with comments, which helps maintain our code base properly.
