NestBenefits
Print and web design for NestBenefits, a new supplemental insurance agency.
To stand out from the competition – and to prove that insurance doesn’t have to be boring, we delivered a modern and fresh layout focusing on bold colors, impactful imagery, and personal copy.
To support the website, print materials including a services booklet was created.

Texas Christian University
Design and marketing assistance for the Neely School of Business at TCU.
To help promote various programs, workshops, and events hosted by the college, I worked with department staff to create digital program brochures for prospective students, industry reports for stakeholders, along with social media content and digital ads.

MentoHR
MentoHR is a startup that provides human resources mentorship and support to small-to-medium businesses and job seekers. As a new company with no web presence, I worked with their owner to design and develop a single-page website to establish themselves online and highlight their services.
To help with new client acquisition, business cards and an eBook were also designed.

Frederick Jams Music Series
Marketing collateral and promotion for Frederick Jams; a new live music series hosted by New Spire Arts, in beautiful Downtown Frederick, MD. Originally asking for just one promotional poster, I encouraged an integrated multi-media campaign to best connect with the target demographics. Deliverables included a series of posters, and assets for social media, email, and their website.
With an all-ages target crowd for the concerts, New Spire Arts wanted the look of Frederick Jams to be fresh and youthful, but also clean and legible. The double-exposed photographs include musicians performing with live crowds and a bright color palette, giving the collateral a sense of energy and excitement for the events.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Client Services Manager at a nonprofit performing arts venue in Frederick MD.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tyler A Royer Design?
Our website was designed a few years ago and started to look a bit dated. We wanted to streamline the look of the site, update information, and incorporate some new plugins.
We weren't looking for a complete overhaul, more of a refresher and increase the easy of use both front and backend.
How did you select Tyler A Royer Design and what were the deciding factors?
We looked at a few local designers and Tyler came recommended from a former staff member. His proposal was affordable and he understood exactly what we were trying to accomplish.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We had a few Zoom meetings with Tyler to establish a plan for what we wanted to achieve with the new website. Tyler began redesigning the website and kept us in the loop by using first Flywheel, and then Markup so we could make direct comments and provide feedback as the website came close to going live.
He made numerous suggestions for cutting costs such as recommending a change in website host as well as utilizing Events Calendar to sync with Eventbrite, making updates smoother.
How many resources from the Tylor A Royer Design team worked with you, and what were their positions?
1- Tyler.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Tyler kept us involved every step of the way. Utilizing Markup was great and he was quick to add more 'viewers' in order to allow all interested parties a chance to leave comments before the website went live.
Also of use are the videos he recorded for us to make small changes to the website going forward.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication was very open and he was quick to respond. Tyler also had great money-saving recommendations that are easy to use and streamline the whole website. We scheduled at least three Zoom meetings to go over big plans and questions. T
hey were always on hand to make last-minute changes or answer questions.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We were very pleased that he listened to what we were trying to accomplish and didn't completely reinvent the website, just made it look fresher.
We also appreciated his recommendations to integrate different aspects of the website making it easier to use on our end.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, the project went smoothly.

WordPress Website Development for HR Consulting Company

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a one-woman organization, and I have an HR consulting company that I have established two years ago.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tyler A Royer Design?
We needed a website so we engaged with Tyler A Royer Design. We wanted to have a platform that could capture who we were as a company and what services we could provide to our customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed our WordPress website from scratch. I have a very small business, so I wanted to ensure that everything was simple and easy to read. Most importantly, I wanted it to be a one-pager. Since we were just starting out, we didn’t feel the need to have a huge platform. The team also incorporated testimonials and things of similar nature. Moreover, they did some SEO.
After they finished developing the website, Tyler A Royer Design created some tutorial videos for me so that I could go in and make site basic updates myself which they posted on Loom. They also designed my business card, and they matched its branding with my website.
What is the team composition?
We only worked with Tyler (Owner).
How did you come to work with Tyler A Royer Design?
I went to Upwork to find a couple of different designers, and I interviewed 2–3 companies. After talking to Tyler and looking at his portfolio, those were the things that drew me to him the most. Between the work that I was able to see and the price and value they were going to offer, it was a no-brainer for me to partner with him.
How much have you invested with them?
We ended up paying $800.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from January–November 2020. We’re currently looking at new things that Tyler can do for us, so he’ll probably be my go-to person for anything I need for the website moving forward.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Tyler A Royer Design achieved our goal and people could see and get a better understanding of our company and what our services were through our website. I don’t have any hard metrics, but I saw that people could find me somehow and they were guided to my site. However, all of the business that I received so far had not come directly from the website.
How did Tyler A Royer Design perform from a project management standpoint?
We used email, and I would typically send Tyler the content, and he would send me screenshots. That way, I was able to see what needed to be updated. Moreover, we didn’t have any fancy tools for updates.
From a project management standpoint, they did an excellent job of following up with me, and their communication skills were solid. They did their best to keep our project on track, and they were flexible and understanding when they knew I was busy.
We got pretty delayed because I got pregnant, and I was very busy getting ready for my baby. I don’t want anyone to think Tyler was the reason why it took so long for a one-pager website to finish.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was amazed by Tyler’s knowledge; even though he could've been a bit more pushy and assertive during my interview process with him, I felt that he wasn’t going to stress me out if I missed deadlines since I had so many things going on. I also knew he was going to keep me on track and help us stay connected. I was super happy with the way he managed everything.
Most of all, Tyler was very good at understanding our business and business needs. He was also capable of coming up with amazing designs.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I don't think they have any areas to improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Spend as much time as you need to look at their team’s portfolio to get some ideas of what they’ve done in the past. Allow them to work with you from the beginning and give them all the information they need. For example, if they’re doing web design work, share what’s important to you and set expectations or parameters on the design you want them to create.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an immigration attorney and owner of a law firm based in Houston, Texas.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tyler A Royer Design?
I needed a website for my firm, so I hired Tyler A Royer Design.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built a WordPress website for us. I asked for three different pages to cover our home page, services page, and contact page. I already had the copy for the site, so I just needed them to create the site and get it live. They integrated features to neatly organize all of that information, including the services the firm offers and portraying the core values of our firm.
What is the team composition?
I worked directly with Tyler (Owner).
How did you come to work with Tyler A Royer Design?
I found him through Upwork. I was looking for a person who could do a website in a quick turnaround and with not too much fluff. He seemed like a good fit based on his profile and reviews I read about him.
How much have you invested with them?
I’d say the total cost was around $1,500.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began and wrapped up the project in January 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s only been live for a few days, but anyone who has happened upon our website has told me they love it. People have remarked on how professional and user-friendly it is. Users are impressed with the aesthetics of it and the content on the site.
How did Tyler A Royer Design perform from a project management standpoint?
He was very responsive. Our entire time working together, we mainly used email, which I know can sometimes be problematic but it was very easy with Tyler. He always replied within the same day. All of the deliverables were completed in a timely fashion, too.
What did you find most impressive about them?
He’s only the second web designer I’ve worked with, but I really liked his efficiency. Instead of putting forth five different options, he took the lead. He was efficient with his time and his purpose, taking the reins and showing us the best approach. Tyler was very to the point and succinct, which I like because it’s also my working style, so we were a good match.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I was very impressed overall, so I have no complaints.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do the legwork on the backend to know what you’re looking for. You can have an idea in mind of what you want the end result to look like, so you’ll have a clear path on how to get there.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our organization is called Knowledge to Practice, and we're also known as K2P. We are an educational technology (EdTech) company. We provide continuing education online for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tyler A Royer Design?
We are a small startup and we do not have any design resources in house. As a result, we hired Tyler A Royer Design to create aesthetically pleasing collaterals for us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Tyler A Royer Design creates various collaterals for different purposes such as online advertising and slide decks. They also develop landing pages for us. Their team follows our branding guidelines in all their designs.
To give an example, we did a direct mail piece around a specific theme and they worked with us on the design for that project, including the box. We had a third party produce the item and ship it for us. Thereafter, I sent it to my former graphic designer to get feedback.
What is the team composition?
We only work with Tyler (Owner).
How did you come to work with Tyler A Royer Design?
I found them through LinkedIn and we had an initial conversation back in the summer.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $5,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in July 2020, and the collaboration is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
My former graphic designer gave the team’s design high reviews. We also shared their design work with a few people outside the company and everyone’s been impressed with the quality of their outputs.
There was also a time when they did a nice look and feel for one of our new products. In the end, we used that design idea for a lot of our follow-up projects. Overall, they've been able to get what we need and finish it in a timely manner.
How did Tyler A Royer Design perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a shared Google Drive with them where we keep all of our documents such as design briefs, creative briefs, raw materials, screenshots, and more. We also have a Google Sheet where we put in a new request and share basic information on the quantity of work, due date, and links to any relevant documents.
In addition, we have a Slack channel where we invited Tyler as a guest. Occasionally, if he needs feedback, I review drafts of documents in Adobe Acrobat Reader and put my inputs there.
What did you find most impressive about them?
He has been so easy to work with and he has positive insights. He’s also agreeable and customer-focused.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We don’t think they have any areas they could improve. We've been thrilled with their work and we just keep going back to them. We highly recommend Tyler A Royer Design.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It works well to have a brief kickoff call. Walk them through what you’re trying to do and see it as an opportunity for them to ask questions.

Graphic Design for Data Science Company
“Everyone has a sense of ease and confidence in working with him.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a small data science company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tyler A Royer Design?
We had several graphic design needs that’d help us map data; in essence, a visual representation of complicated insights. Infographics are more digestible and shareable.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We needed charts and graphs on cumbersome insights for laymen. The audience encompasses people without the expertise of data science, and the objective was for them to see, understand, and even describe — in story form — what the insights detail. Tyler A Royer Design created those graphics and utilized an intuitive business sense. They took our direction and synthesized it with their artistic intuition.
What is the team composition?
Tyler (Owner) is a one-man show.
How did you come to work with Tyler A Royer Design?
He was referred to us by a professional colleague. He came with a good reputation.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing engagement started in October 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The deliverables are industry-savvy and stylistically relevant to current market trends and expectations of professional quality. We have sensitive insights but Tyler is trustworthy and someone who can handle everything. I have no complaints; he’s been a lifesaver.
How did Tyler A Royer Design perform from a project management standpoint?
Tyler is communicative and responsive. He’s highly attentive to inquiries in my outreach. I’ve had a few colleagues in moments of rushed anxiety over deadlines, and he’s always been respectful and held a good composure. He filters that emotion and delivers in good order and on time.
Everyone has a sense of ease and confidence in working with him. At some points, we treat him as part of our project management flow. We consider our deliverables and schedules based on his ability to follow through which has been very nice.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m most impressed with his dependability and consistent quality.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’d like to see him get a team so he can maybe handle a larger workload. That brings some quality control issues that he’ll have to work through. However, I know he has the capability to expand or grow his service as long as he can maintain the good quality.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear about your business objective and design need so Tyler has a holistic understanding of what to provide so you can cut down on the number of iterations.
The deliverables met the need and expectations of the internal team. Tyler A Royer Design established a seamless workflow through clear and open communication. They provided effective recommendations in navigating the platform easily. The team was cost-effective, organized, and responsive.
