Web Development & UX/UI Design for Flower Delivery Business
"Team members understand what we need, and we can rely on them."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a technical lead at Dicentra Flowers, a flower delivery company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-burum?
Our old website wasn’t very functional; we needed someone to build us a new one.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Turum-burum has done the UX/UI design and development of our website. They’ve developed the back- and frontend from scratch, using Figma for the UX/UI and MODX and JavaScript for the backend.
We initially asked for a feature for customers to make requests. They could send us a bouquet photo, and our managers could give them an estimated cost. There’s also a feature where clients can customize the bouquet they want.
Last year, we had another project with them. It allowed our florist specialists to make a queue of bouquets to prioritize them. Our florists can see the queue in real-time, make the arrangement, and change the status when the bouquet is done.
What is the team composition?
For development work, we’re in contact with the CTO, four full-time backend developers, and some part-time frontend developers. Also, the COO is the head of the UX/UI department; he has a team of two people.
How did you come to work with Turum-burum?
We received excellent recommendations from Google and one of their clients. We initially had some meetings with them; they came to our office in Kyiv to see how our business works and what specific problems we needed to address. After the meeting, we wanted to work with them. Turum-burum understood all of our questions, and we liked their answers.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent under $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in June 2020. Our last project together was released in January 2022, but our relationship is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our conversion grew 20% when we released the first MVP of our new website. It’s easier to use and more mobile-friendly for our customers — they find all they need. Also, we’ve received excellent feedback from our CEO. We got the first position in Google for one year on flower delivery.
How did Turum-burum perform from a project management standpoint?
We work in sprints. They usually deliver on time and within our budget. Also, we can see who is working on a task and what the status is. Our main communication is via Telegram.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re a cutting-edge company. Turum-burum always looks at what is modern in e-commerce and analyzes the commercial market to find new features to enhance our site. Moreover, they have good and accessible communication. Team members understand what we need, and we can rely on them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we can rely on them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Give them a lot of information and data. They like to understand your business needs to offer the best solution.

UI/UX Design for SaaS Booking Company
"This wasn’t our first product with them, but it’s the best one so far."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re developing a SaaS product that focuses on the travel and diver boat industry. It’s a pricing and booking management solution for yachts and divers. I’m responsible for the product and operations in the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?
We hired them to create the system’s UI/UX.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Turum-Burum is our consultant for all things related to the system’s interface; they’ve been working with us from the very beginning. The site has a communication system for clients and suppliers and a GDPR-compliant system for storing personal information, or so-called “guest forms”. It also has a content integration hub with the main travel agencies on the market.
At first, we gave them the concept of the project and developed personas together, while our product team set development priorities based on customer needs. They focused on different things at different stages, starting with the initial brainstorming. Turum-Burum brought their knowledge about startups in other industries to help us define the solution.
Then, they created all of the wireframes and documentation related to the design. The design framework was developed in Figma, and our developers were able to use it without involving the designers.
The wireframe website helped us validate the idea with prospective customers and start development with our in-house team. Turum-Burum also figured out how to perform complex operations in easily understandable ways for users. Our customers aren’t tech-savvy people, so creating the right interface was a challenging task.
What is the team composition?
Turum-Burum has provided us with one UX designer, one UI designer, and one project manager. The project manager is responsible for organizational and financial matters. Some designers were integrated into our team, and we’ve worked with them on a daily basis.
How much have you invested with them?
At this moment, the cost has been around $25,000–$40,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We first worked with Turum-Burum around 10 years ago on a product for the local travel industry. I believe we were one of their first customers, and this is our third project with them.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Around 5% of our market is signed up and using the product, and our net promoter score is close to 10. We were even able to sign some customers during COVID-19.
In general, customers are fully satisfied with the product, and they’re saying that it’s a technological shift for the industry. Since we’re working in a small niche and trying to figure out the best way to solve user problems, it’s unlikely that we’ll create the perfect solution on the first attempt. However, we’ve managed to create a really good product using our and Turum-Burum’s experience.
All in all, having a strong interface has been helpful for us, so it was a good decision to invest in UI. This wasn’t our first product with them, but it’s the best one so far.
How did Turum-Burum perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve worked remotely for the most part, but the communication with Turum-Burum has been good throughout this process. At the beginning, we had some face-to-face brainstorming sessions. Now, we have Zoom meetings, so it’s easy to share screens and discuss everything.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their understanding of business and technical items has helped us not to waste time during the active development stage. It’s very important that designers understand the business needs and limits of the project, and that sometimes the perfect solution will be too expensive to implement. Turum-Burum is able to find good balance and provide an optimum solution.
Additionally, our frontend developer mentioned that working with Turum-Burum has been a great experience. They understand how frontends work, so they didn’t create things that required a lot of resources to implement.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Considering that they’re entering the international market, they should increase their understanding of international cultures and user behaviors.
For instance, we see that the behavior of some of our Asian customers differs slightly from people in North America. Since none of us had this kind of experience, these insights might be improved after several international projects.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to be open-minded. Turum-Burum can provide great ideas, but the client should be able to hear and adopt those ideas. It’s important to make them feel that they’re involved in the project and their opinion is valuable.
Secondly, I recommend having an initial discussion and creating a bird’s-view plan of the project, covering the most important areas. Turum-Burum cares about results, so if they know where they can provide the biggest impact, they can be more effective than just providing some nice pictures.

The client submitted this review online.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the project manager and analyst of Singularex Inc., an IT services company located in Kharkiv, Ukraine. We have 11-50 employees, and we analyze big data by using predictive algorithms in order to help clients make data-driven decisions.
What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?
Our company has two departments, consisting of one in the US, and one where my team is located in Ukraine. We handle multiple analytical cases with images and various information. Our site was working slowly, and the image quality was also poor. Potential customers didn’t want to work with us because our site looked unprofessional.
We had several problems with our old website, including results visualization of our researchers, issues with graphics and images, as well as poor loading times. We were seeking advice and consulting on how to develop a cost-efficient website with increased speed while housing high quality content and images.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Turum-Burum designed our new website. They made it more user-friendly, and also found a solution for our image problem.
What is the team dynamic?
We worked with a single designer from Turum-Burum. We communicated via email and phone calls.
How did you come to work with Turum-Burum?
My US colleagues had tasked me in finding an agency based on Ukraine for financial reasons, and I found Turum-Burum on Dribbble. We'd previously met their team during an IT conference, and I’d also heard about them from a colleague. We ultimately decided to work together.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around February 2017, and the project lasted for about 1 week.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We currently have an easy-to-understand and responsive website. Visitors are now staying on the website for a longer amount of time than they were with the old design.
How did Turum-Burum perform from a project management standpoint?
They answered our questions quickly, and were good at understanding our needs. We had no issues, and the designer was professional, responsive, and made suggestions on how to improve the website. They delivered according to scope while keeping both the schedule and budget in mind.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Turum-Burum was able to translate our vague ideas into something more interesting and fitting for our sphere of analytics. They knew what decisions to make for the betterment of our company.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No. We had a very positive experience.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the marketing manager of Ubertesters.
What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?
We were in the process of updating the site, as well as building landing pages for our events and creating a mobile app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have worked with Turum-Burum on 5–7 projects, including updates to our website and mobile app. They focused mainly on web design, UI/UX [user interface/user experience] tweaks, and frontend web development.
They provided skilled experts for the UI/UX part. We had a specific request from a client, and Turum-Burum helped us achieve it. From time to time, we will hire people with specific knowledge sets, and Turum-Burum’s team is skilled in UI testing. When we have relevant requests, we involve their company.
We generally have no more than 5–6 people from Turum-Burum’s team at the same time. Around 15 people from their side have taken part in our projects over time.
How did you come to work with Turum-Burum?
I received a reference from a colleague who had worked with them in the past.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost has been substantial.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Turum-Burum in November or December 2016. The latest contract ended 4–5 months ago. We get new projects from time to time and ask Turum-Burum to help us.
How did Turum-Burum perform from a project management standpoint?
We wouldn’t have involved them in subsequent projects if they didn’t meet our expectations. We started the collaboration in 2016 and have continued because Turum-Burum does good work. We can send them technical specifications and receive several options as far as the overall approach. They provide managers and specialists who can also work with our own leadership.
We communicate via Skype, Phone, Viber, Slack, Trello, uTrack, Redmine, and Basecamp, depending on our and our clients’ requirements.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are quite good in terms of UI/UX design. This skill interested us, as we have managers on our side and needed some specific skill sets to help us close deals with UI testing or with specific items related to our own ongoing projects like websites and mobile apps. Turum-Burum has provided the right expertise and done everything we needed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The team conducted their audit within the stated time and kept us informed of each step. The team explained with ease each suggestion and why they felt it was required, with data backup. They were also on hand to advise my development team for any further clarifications.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The standard of the audit was high, and i felt each possible element of the website was deeply investigated.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, they performed the project to a very high standard and i would gladly recommend them to any other clients.
