For what projects/services did your company hire Trigma, and what were your goals?
To develop an internal app for Planning and Ordering. That would allow some frictionless communication between the Sales Executive and the Plant Operation Team.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We performed a lot of online research and eventually ended our search on Trigma as they were noted to be offering the most professional services. They did have some great reviews on their work done, they have the capability to synchronize some amazing innovative plans, and the highly notable factor was the project manager who supervised the complete app development process.

I was looking out for a high-quality and cost-efficient product that could be delivered in a timely manner. Before choosing Trigma, we did perform a lot of research and researched globally in many countries. Trigma created some of the best, some great vision for the projects along with their team leaders, who were able to create this great app for seamless communication between the doctors and the patients. We are sure to use the services of Trigma while making updates to our app along with building new apps over time, and we do highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in creating the app.

We had a project manager assigned to our project, which laid out the best plan along a clear path with specific specialists and some great milestones that were in charge of the entire step all along the way. Trigma helped us in building this native app for Sales Executive and the Plant Operation Executive on the platform of both Android and iOS. The app allowed the sales executive to communicate with the plant operation persons either through chat, voice call, or video call. The sales executive can manage their time effectively with the use of this solution, keep the records, and track the delivery status of material.

Things from the end of Trigma were clearly laid out and well-planned as they delivered some great management and communication from their end. I do agree that we are new to the app development industry and really required a lot of assistance along the way, and Trigma did a remarkable job as we were completely happy that there was a project manager who held our hands at all times

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I've since moved to a new position, but I previously worked at a tractor parts supplier. We originally focused on doing business with government organizations.
What challenge were you trying to address with Trigma?
We needed to expand into the private sector in order to achieve our desired income goal. I thought it would be best to bring an external firm in to help us widen our approach.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built our website. They did everything from the frontend design to the backend development. We wanted our website to be fully functional with respect to online shopping. They implemented the proper framework so people can come to the site directly and place their orders. Every now and then, they will update the website according to our needs. They gave us the first solution 10 to 15 years ago. Back then, it only utilized HTML and CSS. Then, they gave us another solution four or five years ago that uses AngularJS. They've encouraged us to keep using this platform. It's a little more expensive, but it gives the site a polished aesthetic. For the backend, they are using Java, and Spring Boot for the framework. For the database, they are using MariaDB.
When we started out, they gave us a presentation of what our website would look like and they asked for input. We gave them input and they implemented that. We provided documentation, but they were ready beforehand. They did a pretty good job there.
What is the team composition?
At first, we worked with the regional manager and his counterpart. Then, four people were assigned to the project. In total, there were six people involved, which was optimal for our medium-sized organization.
How did you come to work with Trigma?
Due to time constraints, I was not able to develop the website myself. However, a colleague who lives in my hometown had worked with Trigma and recommended them to me. We tried them out and they were very hardworking. They checked off all the boxes and we hired them.
How much have you invested in them?
We've spent around $150,000 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We've worked together since February 2005.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our organization is one of the largest in the northern region of India, so we expect our partners to provide a solution that is out of the box and unique. We've invested a lot with them, but the returns have been very good. Over the past 15 years, our year-over-year turnaround was around $125,000.
Once we started offering online payment, we attracted a lot of customers even from the southern part of the country. We have exported our product to Mumbai which is in the eastern part of the country. Especially considering the COVID-19 situation in India, the e-commerce capabilities of the website have been great in allowing all customers to place orders at their convenience.
Due to our workforce limitations, we don’t hire more than 100 employees in one organization, so our internal capabilities were strictly limited. As such, we needed an external partner who would emphasize quality over quantity. They recognized this need of ours. Even though the price point has been high, we've been able to attract a lot of new customers and expand our business and online presence thanks to them. As our business has grown, this growth has been reflected in the content of the site.
I really like their company’s confidentiality policy as well. Even though I am the owner of the website, I am not allowed to see the code they've written. However, they provide me with any information that I need. For example, a month ago I needed to know how many people were viewing the website. They gave me the average number of people who view the website in a week but didn't show me the code behind this statistic. They provide insight as to how they are developing, but they don’t let us near the code. I think that is a very good company policy because it keeps me happy while still providing them with their confidentiality.
How did Trigma perform from a project management standpoint?
They take all the burden off their customer, and they are always there. During the major development phases of the project, we've had a project manager that would give us daily updates on their progress and goals. Sometimes they took more time, but the product was really impressive. We had to be patient due to the uniqueness of their solution. Once I saw the beta version of our website, I knew that the time we invested did not go down the drain. For the past year, we have been communicating through phone calls or Zoom meetings. Before that, they would provide updates at in-person meetings.

They are cooperative, hardworking, and really imaginative. Their team is forthcoming, and they offer a fairly good price.

I have an IT background, so I think they should explore other services like AWS Cloud. I am working with AWS Cloud currently, and I think it's a great solution that would enhance their business. I’m the CEO of a navigational service company. We supply nautical charts and other charts used by sailors and merchants for their safe navigations. We do some emergency kits and other things for navigation purposes.
What challenge were you trying to address with Trigma?
The marine industry is pretty old. The industry was facing digitalization issues. Everybody started from paper maps and then we moved to the age of computers. There was a strong need for a web application that would allow marinas to quickly search and make waypoints.
Before this, weather, sounds, light points, tides, and everything else were all on paper. They’ve had to log this data for at least the last 20 years, but we needed to convert the logbooks into digital format.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Trigma developed a cloud-based Java application. Based on the hard copies we had, they built that information into the application. There was an option where they could make the changes and add the field.
One of the features built into the app accounts for the flag state of each country. There are different rules and regulations that mariners need to follow depending on the flag state, so it’s important that they have the most up to date information. For example, Canada needed an electronic book for their flag state that followed a specific format.
The important point was to connect the changes that the captain, second officer, or third officer are making, to the main server. If the superintendent or the ship manager goes, they can quickly review it. It allows users to monitor on what’s happening on the ship.
What is the team composition?
There were 8–9 people working on the project in total. Some of them were overlapping. At one time, there were 5–6 on the team.

We wanted maximum exposure for our site so it would be hit up frequently on search engines. Our audience — people in their fifties who don’t use the internet often — also needed a site that was easy to look at and navigate.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’re having the whole website restructured from scratch for the third time. It’s been 5–6 years since the last one, so it’s gotten a bit dated. Once it’s done, it’ll be easier to navigate, the image and video quality will be higher, and the site will be faster.
I told Trigma what we needed, which was a video that we could upload with a YouTube connection. We also wanted to link to our Facebook and Instagram where part of our audience comes through. Lastly, I wanted an admin page where we could edit parts of the website and update news stories ourselves rather than rely on Trigma.
