From the beginning of the project, we had a limited time in which to develop the product, so we had to stick closely to the timelines that we established. They worked closely with us to develop an online solution that we could use to meet the needs of the project.

We started out with all of the documentation that we needed and gave that to their team in order to help us migrate the content online. They handled the process from there and delivered the final product to us for review.

We knew that Trigma had done a lot of work with different government agencies and wanted to hire them based on their demonstrated experience with projects like this one.

The total project cost was around $1,000,000 USD.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in the first quarter of 2012.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The government party who commissioned the project was very pleased with the result of the project and was impressed with the ambitious timeline on which we were able to deliver the work.

When we launched the website, we were able to gain about 17,000 users on the site within a relatively short timeline. Feedback from everyone who used the site was very good, and we didn’t run into any bugs or issues throughout the project.

How did Trigma Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

The deliverables were always provided on time and in budget. They handled the project well overall, communicating with us regularly about all of the progress and asking for feedback throughout their work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are very competent at what they do. Their knowledge base is impressive, and we had no doubt that they would be able to handle the workload that we were giving them. All of their employees are professional and hard-working, which significantly improved our relationship.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. In government, you often run into delays or other issues on a project like this, but they did a great job of avoiding any of those issues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give them your requirements and then let them get to work. They have a good team and will be able to deliver a solution that satisfies your needs if you allow them to decide how to implement it.

Trigma Solutions developed a billing system for our shop, using PHP CodeIgniter and a Magento database. They also developed an Android app through which we can do all our billing. We use it to scan bar codes, and it does all calculations automatically.

I have 15 employees in my shop, and each one has an account on the platform. They receive commissions for their sales, which are calculated by the app.

What is the team composition?

I had a three-person team at Trigma: one designer, one project manager, and one developer.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was 5–6 lakh Indian rupees (approximately $8,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them between January–April 2020. The app is launched and my team is onboarded to it. I’ve recently started using their cloud services as well.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The solution gives me a lot of ease. We had complex books in the past, and billing records used to get misplaced or corrupted. All my books are in the cloud now, and I can get access to the database from anywhere. The platform is functional and reliable, and my employees are very happy with it.

Additionally, when they presented templates to us, our QA team tested it, and they found it to be nearly flawless from the first run.

Throughout the engagement, our project manager coordinated with their project manager. They used a project management tool that my team could access to see the weekly milestones. 

They took an agile approach to development, which worked well. Trigma Solutions tested each module, gave it to our team to test, and then we were deploying it on the server. They shared the code with us through GitHub.

Additionally, we never had any problems with the budget during the duration of the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with their commitment levels. If we ever have another mobile application related project, Trigma Solutions will definitely be in consideration.

Initially, their team was busy with another project so there was a slight delay in assigning their developers to us. Other than that, we didn’t face any issues with them.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re the labor department for the state of Haryana, India. I was the technical head in charge of the entire IT project.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Trigma Solutions?

We had three challenges. First, we needed to provide all services online to the public, including the dissemination of information regarding the various functions, authorities, and phone numbers as per the Right to Information Act. We also had to inform the people about the laws and rules to be brought online, so that they wouldn’t have to rely on books and other printed material. 

The second challenge was to ensure our online services were under various labor laws. With this project, security had to be very tight. 

The third part was to give fair online facilities to workers under two different labor acts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided Trigma all the necessary technical information and procedures and gave them the task of building the platform.

Our first phase was design. Trigma had a team for graphic design, functionalities, software. System design was the first step, then we transitioned to software design. The team had to ensure that the system would be easy for people to access and use. They gave us a choice of colors, animated graphics, logos, and so on. Next, we started the software development aspect of the project.

The system involved various points at which the applicants provided information, which then had to be brought together and integrated on a common platform, with common members and IDs. That data all needed to be hosted on a national platform from the Ministry of Labour.

How did you come to work with Trigma Solutions?

We had an open tender and five or six providers made a bid. We looked at Trigma’s previous experience with government projects and the size of their teams. We wanted a proper team allocated for us that could come to our office to discuss the documentation, then go back and develop the system according to our requirements.

Trigma was selected on various criteria, including operational, financial, prior experience, and knowledge. We interviewed them at a high and low level.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was around $500,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from 2015–2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Trigma kicked off very fast during the first phases of the project. The security aspect was quite strong, though there were some glitches in the software. Despite that, the public response to the platform was very strong.

We were the first labor department in the country to connect to the central portal of the Ministry of Labor, hosting all the data of the workers, also connected with social security. We dominated the national scene for three years, accomplishing something that no other state could.

How did Trigma Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a lot of red tape in the government, and Trigma was able to manage our system and coordinate at a high level. They were always willing to come to our office to discuss any changes. A lot of people can build software, but tolerating government bureaucracy and red tape is very tough.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most important aspect of our engagament was their coordination with us. I didn’t handle the project alone. There were various departments handling various functions, and Trigma coordinated with everybody. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. After dealing with us, I think they can deal with anybody.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It’s better to have a more limited scope and to focus on a particular subject. Our project was too complex, and Trigma had to work harder because of that. A client with a more focused scope will make very good use of their services.
