Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of Moving Proz. We’re a moving company.


What challenge were you trying to address with Today’s Local Media?

I needed them mainly for SEO services, but also hired them for web development as well. When I first started my company, I had no business background at all. However, I knew I definitely needed a website and SEO work.

When I reached out or was contacted by people who offered those services, I ended up getting scammed quite a bit. I learned quickly that it was a dog-eat-dog world. My challenge was to find a company that was honest and effective.


What was the scope of their involvement?

The process of getting started was very comfortable compared to what I was used to. Today’s Local Media developed my website first. The functionality of the website is fairly basic. We have a call to action and function that captures customer information.

With SEO, we needed a way to track where leads are coming from. Today’s Local Media built that feature, and we’ve had them redesign the website a few different times since the initial one. Currently, we’re starting a new branch of our business, so they’re doing some internal page work right now.

For the most part, they handle everything from design to development. However, my business partner is a graphic designer and she did the design for our current website, then Today’s Local Media developed it. They maintain the website and its content, including blog posts, on an ongoing basis. Once in a while, we provide the content that usually entails helpful information for our customers. In these cases, we work together with them as a team.

Today’s Local Media also runs our Google Ads campaign and social media ads. They do all of our SEO for multiple occasions.

What is the team composition?

Ben (Founder & CEO) is my main point of contact. He has a team he works with behind-the-scenes.

How did you come to work with Today’s Local Media?

I was referred to Today’s Local Media through word of mouth by another moving company. Once I talked to Ben, he put me at ease just by talking to him. He’s a very down-to-earth person. I could tell that he’s trustworthy because he followed-up, was easy to contact, and made himself accessible. Today’s Local Media was upfront about the timeframe and how much the project would cost.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $100,000–$150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing partnership began in January 2012. The website took two weeks to go live. We’re in a rapidly expanding business and there’s always something new.


What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Today’s Local Media always sends reports about new traffic on our website. Our traffic has increased by 50%–70% year-over. The engagement has been really good, and we’re moving in the right direction every year. We receive a lot of new visitors to the site. Our moving company is a seasonal business so traffic goes down, which is predictable, in the winter. But in the summer, it’s exceptionally high. As I mentioned before, our business is growing, and Ben has been patient throughout everything.

If it were not for Ben, we wouldn’t be where we are today. He has met all my expectations. The best part is that he answers all of my questions and keeps me in the loop about everything. Their team goes above and beyond, even when it’s not related to their job criteria. Ben always provides a solution to our issues, he’s awesome at problem-solving. Today’s Local Media provides good advice on where we should put our ad spend money. They put us on the map.

How did Today’s Local Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They communicate well and are responsive. I trust them to the point where I’m comfortable enough to step away and focus on my job and building my company. Whereas with the people I worked with before, I had no idea what they were doing with my money. They didn’t communicate, and I had terrible experience after terrible experience.

However, Today’s Local Media is constantly telling me exactly what they’re doing. They show me results with analytical data and reports, that all add up and make sense.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really like that they don’t give off the big enterprise feel. Their work is long-term and has a white-hat feel to it. The way they communicate isn’t like a large enterprise business, it’s very personal and catered to what their clients’ needs are — that separates them from who I’ve worked with in the past.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s absolutely nothing that they should change, they’re doing a perfect job. Today’s Local Media needs to continue hiring more people. They’re growing as a company because they do great work.
