BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a director for a nationwide B2B painting contractor.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Thrive Internet Marketing Agency?
We were looking for a partner who could help us produce videos and manage advertising for our YouTube channel.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we wanted to engage a partner to help with our YouTube channel. However, the partnership evolved once we started talking to Thrive about SEO. During our introductory call with Blake (Marketing Consultant), it was evident that he knew his stuff. Blake helped us determine that YouTube marketing wasn’t the right avenue to spend our budget.
We talked about local SEO, and Blake explained how their team could help with our SEO strategy. Then, Blake introduced us to another team member who was well-versed in SEO and facilitated a call where they explained their local SEO methods.
After the call, we went back and did our research to ensure their SEO met the standards they claimed, which it did. They came up at the top of search results, which impressed us, so I got back in touch with Blake and asked them to help.
Then, they developed SEO, PPC, and content strategies that they shared with us. The team helped us determine that we should hold on increasing our social media advertising efforts, so we’ve been focusing exclusively on SEO and PPC with Thrive. I’ve been doing SEO and PPC for our company for about 20 years, so I had a pretty good idea of which keywords to pursue.
After advising the team on which keywords we did and didn’t want to pursue, and supplying them with a list of “maybe” words, Thrive conducted more keyword research on their own. They also assessed our website, which had a lot of blogs and overall content, which they’ve helped us improve.
With Thrive’s help, we’ve dramatically revamped our content and are on our fifth website redesign. They’ve rewritten some of our existing content to make it more appealing to search engines. They’ve also helped us develop content for location-specific SEO so that nationwide users can find us more easily.
Regarding our website, they’ve helped us revamp the layout by creating a new WordPress template and revising our web pages to incorporate the new design and improve the UX.
What is the team composition?
Aside from Blake, we’ve worked with a project manager, a PPC manager, and an SEO manager at Thrive.
How did you come to work with Thrive Internet Marketing Agency?
I found Thrive online and reached out to Blake, who was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly.
How much have you invested with them?
We invest approximately $100,000–$200,000 in their services annually.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with Thrive in June 2021, and the partnership is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thrive has delivered some excellent results, and our site traffic has undoubtedly increased. Since working with them, we’ve seen a 40%–50% uptick in leads, and our leads have been 70%–75% more relevant.
We worked with another SEO company before Thrive; our bounce rate was at 35%, but it’s gone down significantly since our partnership began, which has been key. Our website also flows much better, and users spend 200% more time on our site than before. They’ve helped us boost user engagement; now, users are answering calls to action and filling out contact forms.
As for keywords, I don’t have specific metrics because we have so many, but they’ve definitely improved. Over the past 15 years, we’ve worked with 10 SEO agencies who’ve ranged in price points. Even those SEO vendors who advertised themselves as the best have been all talk and no action. Thrive is different.
How did Thrive Internet Marketing Agency perform from a project management standpoint?
Thrive has been excellent from a project management standpoint. They’ve made the process easy and implemented feedback. They assigned a fantastic project manager who provided us with his cell phone number at the beginning of the project. The team has brought great ideas to the table and has been very responsive and communicative. Our project manager has been great at liaising between Thrive and our team to ensure tasks are completed and keep everyone on the same page.
We have direct lines of communication with our SEO and PPC managers, who we reach out to via email. They’ve also been fantastic at bringing creative ideas that have affected our traffic and inbound leads, which is crucial because paid advertising is expensive.
Whenever we’ve had a slow day in terms of leads, we’ve reached out to the team to make changes, which they implement immediately. We’ve also reached out to them with positive feedback during high-traffic days; they always evaluate those instances to try and learn from them and recreate them.
We meet with our SEO and PPC managers via Zoom. At first, we met weekly, but now we meet monthly. Thrive uses Basecamp to manage the project internally, and they’ve provided us with a portal where we can access reports, rankings, and user flows. They also share content with us via Google Drive, and we communicate via email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Thrive has, 100%, without a doubt, made me believe in SEO again. They’ve made strides in our SEO and PPC efforts, and I’m confident in the value they generate from our significant investments in paid advertising. They’ve done a phenomenal job, and I can’t say enough good things.
Our last SEO vendor made changes to our website, and we found that they’d been using the wrong phone number on one of our paid ads for seven months. We called the phone number to find that an apartment complex had received calls from hundreds of our leads.
Over the last 6–8 months, we’ve seen great results, and I don’t dread SEO calls anymore. Typically, our calls consist of me providing Thrive with positive feedback and thanking them for giving us such a great experience.
I also like that I never have to follow up with Thrive or ask what’s next on the agenda. They stay on top of the project and keep us informed throughout each stage, which has been refreshing.
Are there any areas they could improve?
At the beginning of the project, one of the Thrive SEO team members wasn’t pulling their weight, which we noticed early on. The project manager brought this to our attention, and we agreed that we’d lost time due to the employee failing to attend to our account.
Once we voiced our concerns, Thrive brought in their chief SEO specialist, who, within a week, executed a strategy to make up for the wasted time. I was delighted with how they handled the situation; they jumped into action and corrected the issue.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you have the budget, you should go for it and hire Thrive because you’ll see your ROI.
