A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a software development company located in Denver, and I’m the CEO.
What challenge were you trying to address with Three Over Four?
We wanted to refine our brand and define our brand position as it related to our competition.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Three Over Four performed an analysis of the competitive landscape and where we fit within it. They looked at several competitors and identified our differentiators, so what we off that's unique. Based on that information, their team created content and messaging. They suggested how we should focus our website and materials. Their team wrote content, made changes, and added pages to our website.
What is the team composition?
I mostly communicated with Aaron (Founder).
How did you come to work with Three Over Four?
I previously worked with Aaron on a nonprofit board and he provided branding services to our clients. As Three Over Four did such a great job on those projects, we chose to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $10,000–$20,000 on this project
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked on this project between February 2017–February 2018. However, we continue to work with them on client projects.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We wanted to stand out from our competition, increase leads, and close business. We not only used their content for our website and materials but also used their recommendations in our sales pitches because they articulated why clients should hire us. We definitely saw an increase in leads from our website and closed more sales by using their language.
How did Three Over Four perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated via phone calls and email. We also had in-person meetings that I particularly appreciated because their team was great. They were intelligent, insightful, and strategic. Their team dug deep into our problem to come up with solutions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Three Over Four provided insights that we couldn’t see ourselves. They also had insights into other companies’ positions and how that affected us. Their team was incredibly strategic with their direction and feedback.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they were great.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Many people think that branding’s just logo design and colors. It’s a lot deeper than that. Understand that what you’ll get from an engagement with Three Over Four is a long-term strategy.

Branding & Strategic Consulting for Coding Event Program
“Three Over Four will partner with you and make your brand successful. They see your success as their success.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and former program manager of Go Code Colorado.
What challenge were you trying to address with Three Over Four?
Our program was a brand new program for the state of Colorado. Our objective was to take state data and expose it to the public. In order to show that people could make use of that, we asked the tech community to come in and use the data to make useful applications and tools for other businesses to use.
Our challenge was that this was a voluntary program so we had to find the business community and get them excited about the challenge and data. We had to go out and find developers and tech specialists that’d come and use the data. Three Over Four was brought in to help us brand and reach those communities, communities that would historically question why they should work for the government.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had nine months to do everything. One of the first things Three Over Four did was sit down with the developer, tech, and startup communities in our local community and spoke to them about why they’d get engaged. They validated whether we were correct or not.
Then, based on that, we built the brand of Go Code Colorado. The program wasn’t called Go Code Colorado at the beginning, it had no name, logo, or any other branding presence. Through the interviews, Three Over Four found out how to engage this community and execute our program.
Three Over Four created a brand that would resonate with the community based on our attributes. Then they went to work to execute that strategy. They worked with another group to create all the branding materials, logo, and website.
We held a lot of events and Three Over Four helped organize the individuals who’d present as well as worked with the event planner to ensure things were executed. Their team handled the communications strategy from that point forward.
They also helped put together pitch decks, advertisements, and talks that I’d give throughout the state as the program manager. Their team was involved in the process of our event planning to ensure we were staying on message and doing everything we needed to.
What is the team composition?
We worked directly with Aaron (Founder). He also leans on and brings on other people to help him execute the engagement.
How did you come to work with Three Over Four?
This was a state process, so we went through an RFP process. I knew Aaron and had seen his previous work. When his proposal came to the table, we paid attention to it. Aaron had an excellent reputation and worked with groups that were highly recognized for their work.
Overall, we were impressed with his pitch and understanding — which stood him apart from the other companies. Aaron was flexible because he saw the value of the work.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested between $100,000–$250,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement was from December 2013–December 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Without Three Over Four’s thinking around Go Code and the program we had, we wouldn’t have been successful. The brand they created and put into place is still going forward to this day. It’s been scaled back a lot but it’s still recognized as a marquee brand for the state of Colorado.
Aaron took on more of a leadership role in the second year. He looked at the lessons learned and adjusted as needed. Aaron made the program even more robust. Three Over Four took an idea that I had and breathed life into it. He was very thoughtful. He listened and engaged with the community to understand what we needed to say to the community in order to make us successful.
How did Three Over Four perform from a project management standpoint?
I met with Aaron frequently. The work always got executed, and we never had to worry about it. Three Over Four was in constant communication with us and was transparent if problems arose. They always explained when things would get done and if there’d be a delay.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Aaron is an easy and personable individual to work with. He’s transparent as we’re moving through the process. Aaron is one of the best listeners I’ve ever been around and is very open to asking questions rather than making statements. It was clear he wanted to understand the problem so they could get to the right solution.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, nothing comes to mind.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Shed your previous expectations and biases of what marketing firms are because you can trust Aaron to be your partner and advocate. Three Over Four will partner with you and make your brand successful. They see your success as their success.
Three Over Four identified and translated the brand’s unique qualities into materials and language that successfully increased leads and sales. Resulting in effective collaboration, the team was perceptive and professional. Their thoughtfulness and experience ensured a valuable partnership.
