Feedback summary:

The finished product boasts a user-friendly interface and has attracted positive reactions from existing customers. ThinkMobiles’ industry expertise, competitive pricing, and seamless integration with existing team members continue to drive results.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CEO at MyIndicators, which is a digital solution for empowering persons and organizations in health and education. We help our customers take better steps by collaborating and using indicators to track their progress over time to promote person-centered care and learning.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ThinkMobiles?

Through our responsive web-based eHealth platform, we wanted to offer a user-friendly solution for collecting and analyzing data. We researched potential partners and decided that ThinkMobiles was the best option in terms of competences, industry understanding, and cost-effectiveness.

We hired ThinkMobiles to create our MyIndicators app for iOS. The app needed to be easy to use, have a neutral frontend, and interact with our complex and dynamic structures that define personal Indicators.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our project manager and backend developer in Stockholm worked in collaboration with the iOS developers and project manager at ThinkMobiles. We have continuous contact with them via Skype and a shared agility board.

What is the team dynamic?

We had project managers on each side, 2 iOS developers from ThinkMobiles, and backend developers from our company.

How did you come to work with ThinkMobiles?

We researched vendors online and compiled a list of about 20 potential options. From there, we contacted 5 to discuss our goals and requested offers based on those requirements. Eventually, we signed a contract with ThinkMobiles to build our app.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Through ThinkMobiles’ engagement and ability to understand complex structures in addition to their great technological skills, we got a user-friendly product. Our customers are satisfied. The MyIndicators app reached a position in the market that will help us expand and attract more users both locally in Sweden and globally in the future.

How did ThinkMobiles perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a good workflow with project managers on both sides, a common agile board, and shared documents. The direct communication among developers promoted understanding between the teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re highly skilled and eager to understand complex structures and business goals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The collaboration could be improved and move more quickly if both of our teams had better English-speaking skills.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Hashplay is building a platform which allows people to create virtual reality concepts fast, and share them quickly. I am the Chief Technology Officer of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ThinkMobiles?

As a startup, we're required to be cautious with our cash flow, so we decided to use an external team which we could access on an on-demand basis, and which could deliver results quickly for our mobile platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ThinkMobiles developed the frontend of our Unity platform, which is directed at players. Our team handled product design and backend elements.

ThinkMobiles assigned us a project manager who supervised the work on their side, and we mostly worked directly with developers. We were initially assigned one developer, but ThinkMobiles assigned a second person during the course of the project. Our second resource was swapped on occasion, so we've worked with 4 people from ThinkMobiles over the course of our collaboration.

How did you come to work with ThinkMobiles?

We needed a partner who could turnaround quickly and which had experience with the Unity platform. I don't recall how I found ThinkMobiles initially, but it was likely by googling for Unity developers. I considered a number of companies, but the cases presented on ThinkMobiles' website looked promising, so I got in touch with them.

How much have you invested with ThinkMobiles?

The total cost of ThinkMobiles' services has been above $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with ThinkMobiles in July 2015. We have an ongoing collaboration. We're still working on the backend elements, but we plan to launch the platform within a few weeks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Our player component is available on the Android and Apple app stores, so the work done by ThinkMobiles is live. It currently only shows demo cases.

How did ThinkMobiles perform from a project management standpoint?

We've been happy with ThinkMobiles, although the project management had some issues in the beginning. ThinkMobiles assigned additional resources without asking us, and invoiced us for them, which was a bit odd. Other than this, ThinkMobiles performed well and was able to stick to 80% of our deadlines. There will always be delays, and outsourcing development doesn't make things easier because of communication issues, but ThinkMobiles worked well with us. We worked through a time-and-materials contract. We used Asana for project management and task assignment.

What did you find most impressive about ThinkMobiles?

We haven't worked with many other companies, but I have appreciated ThinkMobiles' response time. Now that our project management issues have been straightened out, things are working like clockwork.

Are there any areas ThinkMobiles could improve?

Aside from our initial project management issues, I have been very happy with ThinkMobiles.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with ThinkMobiles?

Any clients should focus on having a straightforward project management process. This should make things work nicely.

Feedback summary:

The main project developer is extremely good and customer service oriented.  ThinkMobiles is young, motivated, and enthusiastic. The project’s successes are the reason why the team will be working on commercial website development moving forward. Some of the developers could improve their English.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a startup company located in Belgium. I am one of the co-founders. We started several years ago and we make technology that is centered on the European residential market.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ThinkMobiles?

We are developing domestic-related products, so we are in the domain of home heating. We decided to develop a specific product, which is related to home heating systems. This involves a technical part, a PCB [printed circuit board], the housing design, and app development for iOS.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the end, we are developing a product, which is a smart way to evolve. This product does not exist in the US, I believe, because this is very specific to European heating systems. Imagine that in Europe, you have the water flowing through different rooms in the house. Typically here in Europe, people are using radiators. Then you have a specific part of this radiator controlling the heating level. It's like a thermostat like Nest. In Europe, we are using a kind of distributed thermostat in the different rooms, and that's what we developed here for the last two years. It has internet connectivity; you can access it from your iOS device. ThinkMobiles was specifically in charge of developing the app on iOS.

How did you come to work with ThinkMobiles?

We looked around at off-shoring in India. We decided to near-shore the activities to an eastern European country. Based on the research, we ended up collaborating with ThinkMobiles. Initially, we were just comparing skills locally in Belgium. Ideally, we wanted to work with a local company for proximity reasons. When we received quotes, we realized we couldn't afford them.

With India, we had issues with time difference or cultural communication issues. Then, we looked for alternatives in a region closer to Belgium, so we figured that Ukraine would be a good country because it has a skilled local labor force. That's why we decided to focus on scanning for a company in Ukraine. Just based on an internet search, we short-listed five or six companies in the Ukraine. Based on our interviews and casting, we decided to go with ThinkMobiles.

How much have you invested with ThinkMobiles?

It would be around $20,000 for the iOS development and first change request.

What is the status of this engagement?

The app development at 90%, so it’s almost complete. We will continue to collaborate with them for the landing page or commercial website.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Every week, we are receiving a new release, a new build that we can test. Meanwhile, we are reporting the bugs under Trello, a ticket reporting tool. As we move on and develop, we are able to test the new builds. They have a testing team, as well. We all basically are testing. They're reporting identified bugs. On our side, we keep an eye on ongoing development, and we can report the issues we have via Trello.

We are quite satisfied with ThinkMobiles because their developer is extremely good. I don't know if it's local or not, but we're very satisfied with the developer. He's very proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated. The app is quite challenging in the sense that it involves some backend and Bluetooth knowledge because we are communicating with an external device on Bluetooth. We were quite happy to see that this guy has all the skills to complete this. He's a senior developer working with a junior developer as well on the user interface aspect. We are definitely happy with them, and this is the reason why we decided to continue with them for the website development.

How did ThinkMobiles perform from a project management standpoint?

We went there, maybe a bit unlike other customers. We wanted to go to the Ukraine to see those guys face-to-face. We met with the Chief Executive Officer of the company. It's quite a young company. The guys are very young too. They are very motivated and enthusiastic. We were welcomed very warmly to their office and we met many people around. I believe this is a company with a lot of potential.

What did you find most impressive about ThinkMobiles?

The people we work with have good communication skills and good English.

Are there any areas ThinkMobiles could improve?

The junior developer suffered a bit from English communication skills. Some of the guys could improve their English.

The final app received Best New App status in 31 countries. ThinkMobiles did a great job on this technically complex application and was able to build great behind-the-scenes features. They are very collaborative and professional.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

YoVivo is a mobile app which allows users to access multiple clouds and social networks, and transfer media files. It also features a slideshow builder through which images from different sources can be put together and shared in a music video format.

What is your position?

I am the Chief Executive Officer and a co-founder of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with ThinkMobiles?

We were looking for a development partner who could work with us in an integrated way. We are very experienced in terms of developing software across multiple platforms, but we needed a partner that could work with us as an extended part of our team.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

ThinkMobiles provided iOS development for us. They worked with us over a period of several months. We had multiple sprints by which various features were introduced and rolled out.

We're currently working on a project for a different app. ThinkMobiles acts more or less as the entire team for this work. They provide two iOS and two Android developers.

How did you come to work with ThinkMobiles?

Originally, we picked a different partner in the early stages of the project. We were disappointed with the results we were getting, so we interviewed a number of other potential partners. We were most interested in seeing what each company could provide in terms of individuals. We went through a rigorous interviewing process, inquiring about their technical skills, software engineering abilities, knowledge of design patterns, and also their ability and willingness to work in an agile way. We put together a team from three different agencies, taking two people from each.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total cost for the development done by ThinkMobiles for YoVivo was above $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October of 2014. The app has been launched, but we're still working on bits and pieces.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Our product received a Best New App recognition in 31 countries at its launch. It's a technically-complex app which integrates with six or seven different could platforms. The upload and download are optimized and there is a lot of clever stuff going on behind-the-scenes. ThinkMobiles did a good job of building it.

What distinguishes ThinkMobiles from other providers?

They're a very professional and collaborative team. I had a good, open relationship with them. ThinkMobiles knows that I have a very rigorous work style and they've enjoyed it.

Is there anything ThinkMobiles could have improved or done differently?

No. They do a good job. Improvement is a two-way process. When we had a problem, we communicated it to them and it was a priority for their team to get it resolved. ThinkMobiles' approach to resolving hiccups has been very good.

Although still in development, the app is available for download and is in use. ThinkMobiles impresses by continually meeting challenging deadlines with their strong skills and abilities. Working with them is smooth an easy and brings effective results.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the owner of the Shallet project. Shallet App is the only project of Shallet and is focused on the development of a B2C app where the users can exchange photo rights.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what reason(s) did your company hire ThinkMobiles?

The project that we were building was really innovative and we needed a quick and competent team of developers capable of developing what we requested and of proposing creative solutions for the inevitable challenges emerging during the development of a disruptive product.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal is to deliver the new Shallet app for iOS and Android and continue the development, meeting challenging deadlines.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We interviewed several companies and chose the one that had the perfect fit with the project in terms of skills and price.

Describe the project in detail.

The Shallet app was developed for Android and iOS in an Agile environment and, after the initial design, moved quickly to the delivery of the minimum viable product (MVP). After the MVP was released, the usage data was analyzed and several solutions were studied and implemented to meet the users' expectations.

What was the team composition?

The team is composed of two developers (iOS and Android) and a project manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is still ongoing, but the app is downloadable on the Android and iOS stores. The app is continuously changing and improving, but it is working and users are making purchases on it and exchanging photo rights.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our companies has always been very effective and smooth with the deadlines always met.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive element about this company is the quality and competence of their employees. We found some of the most skilled and talented developers available on the market.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything can be done faster, but there are no particular areas of improvement that I feel to suggest so far.
