I’m a CEO of Tascent, a company with a vision to transform the identity marketplace through the introduction of extremely usable, high-performance biometric products and services.
For what projects/services did your company hire Thaumatec, and what were your goals?
We cooperated with Thaumatec on projects related to biometric devices, from early-stage / prototype development through to sustainment of mature products.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Thaumatec was chosen because it proposed the right skillsets, at the right pricepoint, within the right timeframe - and we felt that the attitude of the company would fit well with ours.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The main area of work undertaken by Thaumatec was embedded software development, for which purpose they provided smart and well-skilled resources. (We will decline to state further details for reasons of commercial confidentiality).
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The composition of the team has changed over the long period of engagement. A max of 13 and a min of 2, and typically in the middle of that range.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Thaumatec has been a key part of our product development team, helping us achieve our product development goals faster and more flexibly than we otherwise could have.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We are very satisfied from the project management side. The communication is great, and the team is responsive. The process of development is clear and transparent. It has proven worthwhile paying for Thaumatec's PM resource particularly when the team was sizeable.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their ability to adapt to our business needs - in terms of team size, skillsets, and willingness - has been exceptional.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Occasionally the motivation of individual developers seemed to decline; this was always addressed when we pointed it out, and was never a significant issue. That said, I think that on long-term engagements like ours, maintaining motivation is an area where both parties need to focus. It is certainly something that we are now more mindful of with all of our subcontractor teams.
With the help of Thaumatec, the client has been meeting their goals with speed and quality. They are impressed with the team's project management and communication skills, which continue to pave the way for a successful and long-term partnership.
