Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of IT for YMCA of Southwestern Ontario. We offer a wide range of community programs through health, fitness, and aquatic centers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TechShare Group Inc.?

Our internal management and registration system was dated. Therefore, we needed an experienced development firm to help us migrate to a new solution.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our engagement with TechShare Group Inc. began with them providing solutions for our IT department. Those suggestions including migrating our email system to Office 365. After helping with some initial problems, they recommended that we transition our registration system over to Salesforce. They led that project and even built an application overtop of Salesforce to customize the solution further. That product is known as our Avocado system.

The Avocado app deals with all of our registration processes. The program includes a user portal, an integrated menu for our internal staff, and a Salesforce-centric backend. TechShare Group guided us through the platform’s migration, implementation, and launch. They continue to enhance the program through feature improvements and additional integrations.

What is the team composition?

Their CEO is our primary point of contact, but we’ve also worked with other senior-level staff on the system’s development and implementation.

How did you come to work with TechShare Group Inc.?

Our former CEO reached out to TechShare Group for IT consulting services. Our relationship evolved from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend roughly $100,000–$200,000 annually.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been partnered with them since March 2014, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

TechShare Group provides in-person support. They’re in the office with us whenever we launch a new feature. That level of involvement has enabled to them understand and influence our business considerably.

Our legacy system wasn’t user-friendly, so it took hours and hours of training to ensure new employees could utilize it effectively. Avocado is so intuitive that we can usually get onboarding employees to use the system confidently in about two hours. We have a high turnover rate with frontlines staff members, so having an easy-to-use registration system was one of our main goals when hiring TechShare Group. We recently launched the program in seven new locations, and those managers are reporting smooth integration and training processes.

How did TechShare Group Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They provide frequent and detailed documentation so that we can keep track of each undertaking. They’ve even sat with our financial team and CFO to explain what they’ve done and how the new system operates. Overall, we’re extremely happy with their project management philosophy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re not just another client to TechShare Group. They care about our successes, but they also want to provide solutions to our challenges. We feel like valued customers when working with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We wish they had more resources dedicated to our account. But they’re a growing company, so that kind of concern is expected.

I'm the CFO at Dessert Holdings. We're a premium dessert manufacturer in North America.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TechShare Group?

We were going through a transition with our IT staff in our operations in Canada, so we needed a vendor to help us with IT issues and strategy during that time.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We're putting in place a new IT leader across all of our companies, and TechShare is helping us stabilize our network infrastructure in both of our facilities in Canada. They're also helping us improve the UX within the network and make the network stable and fast. Also, they're overseeing the transition from a self-hosted on-premise email solution to a hosted solution and assisting with helpdesk and server issues. They've provided recommendations in terms of our project management initiative and technology updates, which we're working on right now. They're also upgrading time-clock systems within our manufacturing systems.

What is the team composition?

We've mostly worked with Matt (CEO, TechShare Group) and one other person who's been helping us from a helpdesk perspective.

How did you come to work with TechShare Group?

We found TechShare through one of our recruiters. They were in the same city as our manufacturing facilities, so we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent about $300,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in November 2017, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It's been a successful relationship. TechShare has helped us shape the user experience, and we've received fantastic feedback from our user base. Our business partners have been very supportive, and user engagement has increased.

How did TechShare Group perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very timely and responsive. Matt always provides honest feedback, which is very helpful.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very knowledgeable, so they're able to handle everything from ERP applications to project management and helpdesk.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they've done everything we've asked of them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear on the scope of the engagement and make sure everyone understands the expectations. Matt does a great job asking the right questions, but he's also comfortable with some level of ambiguity.
