High-precision measurement
Project required developing a computer vision software solution for high precision measurement of electronic components.
The dimensions of components varied from 4 to 13mm with minimal tolerance of 200 microns and part-to-part standard deviation below 1 micron.
Additionally detection of production defects was implemented.

Alpine Metal Tech is a leading company in different application areas. The company develops, designs, produces and maintains custom machines for the steel and automotive industry as well as fire simulators under seven different brands NUMTEC, GEGA, KNORR, MAKRA, AMAKON, MAGNEMAG and SIMULATION. I'am head of R&D automotive at AMT.
For what projects/services did your company hire Subpixel?
We hired Subpixel for various programming tasks, mainly for programming C# and Halcon.
What were your goals for this project?
Development of our own special camera system for reading data matrix codes in a harsh industrial environment.
How did you select this vendor?
We have a really good relationship since years and know about the quality of Mr. Perkovic and his team.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
We've made a concept how the camera system should look like and what kind of functionality should be implemented. During the execution of the project we defined working packages and tasks for subpixel which they made independently.
What was the team composition?
Alpine Metal Tech was making the product management and Mr. Perkovic and his team was programming the application.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
For us this development was and is very important because it's part of a complete marking, reading and tracking system for the automotive industry.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Product managment was done by the responsible product manager of Alpine Metal Tech. The communication with Subpixel was working very well and the results are very good.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The cooperation was like Subpixel being part of our company.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Little improvents are possible always and everywhere but for today subpixel is a very good job.

Goal of the project was to achieve in-line optical inspection of the component with the part-to-part standard deviation below 1 micron.
How did you select this vendor?
We were colleagues in a former company.

They selected the appropriate equipment (camera and lens), designed and developed the solution. Subpixel was also used for consultation services for our team. They provided a training needed to improve our team's expertise in computer vision services.
What was the team composition?
The project team had six people. Two optical inspection experts, software engineer, two mechanic engineers and the project manager.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
As the project was custom made development of the high precision measurement and it was done before dead line result was two new projects similar type
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Project management was arranged on a high level. As project was quite complicated regular weekly meetings were mandatory. In between coordination was made with the telecons or trough special Whatsapp group.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Most impressive was the nice-and-easy way of business communication and fast and easy integration of new proposals and solutions
Are there any areas for improvement?
It's hard to write where we can improve something even there is always something for improvement we don't see it right now.

Subpixel successfully executed a system that's now critical to the client's processes. Their product management is seamless and efficient. The team maintains great communication and collaboration, both of which amount to a smooth engagement. They feel like an extension of the client's own team.
