Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) is a national engineering firm that designs, investigates, and rehabilitates structures, building enclosures, and materials. I lead the firm's marketing efforts, including branding, content and digital marketing, public relations, advertising, social media, and events. My team supports nine office locations and all corporate marketing initiatives.
For what projects/services did your company hire Stark / Raving Branding + Digital Marketing?
We hired Stark / Raving to rebrand "Create + Construct," a full-day technical symposium that we sponsor. The event allows architecture, engineering, and construction professionals to discuss the industry's most challenging issues.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to rebrand Create + Construct with a new logo and a comprehensive suite of promotional materials. We wanted to reflect the event's high-end, sophisticated nature.
How did you select this vendor?
We selected Stark / Raving because of their impressive design portfolio and our previous experience with their founder and creative director.
Describe the project in detail.
Through a creative, collaborative process, Stark / Raving successfully completed our rebrand. They created custom materials for different event locations and dates, along with standard and knock-out versions of our logo. They also designed all our onsite materials, including signage, PowerPoint templates, and nametags, along with social media assets and print and electronic advertisements.
What was the team composition?
We worked with the lead designer, who also served as project manager.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project was a great success. Our 2017 event campaign, which occurred after the rebranding, increased our web traffic from the previous year. We tracked a 307% increase in direct traffic, 53% more visitors, and 47% new users.
The rebranding also received second place in the Brand Awareness category at the Society of Marketing for Professional Services (SMPS) Boston 2018, and the SMPS New York Award of Excellence in the Promotional Campaign category. It's also a finalist in the SMPS National 2018 Marketing Communications Awards.

The workflow was great. Stark / Raving met our outlined delivery dates with with no problem.

I was most impressed with Stark / Raving's research on our firm and industry and their thoughtful design approach. They cared about delivering a product we could be proud of. Plus, the process was fun from beginning to end!
