8.7x ROI for a direct-to-consumer eCommerce Brand
This case study illustrates how paid social can be used to accelerate revenue growth in a fast scaling direct-to-consumer ecommerce brand.
The Challenge
A fast-growing D2C company approached Stacks Creative with the goal of scaling their D2C brand’s revenue using paid social media.
The brand had already established itself in its industry, however, with competition emerging on every corner – the need to continue scaling and continue reaching new customers was clear.
Oftentimes marketing campaigns can be focused on views, engagement, reach and awareness metrics. However, for a fast-growing D2C eCommerce brand awareness alone will not suffice.
With focused budgets and a roadmap for success, these paid social media ads needed to drive revenue growth relatively soon.
As a result, the metric of primary focuses for this campaign were the Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) and marketing efficiency ratio.
The Approach
The approach for this client was to build top, middle and bottom funnel campaigns to run year-round. With continuous testing and seasonal pushes on different product collections.
Effective retargeting of warm audiences both built from user social engagements as well as web activity - such as users who added to cart, initiated checkout and mailing list subscribers.
Ad Creative Pillars
From top to bottom of funnel the three pillars that content was centred around for this brand were:
1. User-Generated Content
2. Product & Bundle Carousels
3. Customer Reviews & Comment Showcases
The Results
The application of a strong digital marketing strategy to this D2C ecommerce brand was an overwhelming a success and the numbers speak for themselves. Needless to say this campaign continued to be ran after the 12 months window!
8.73x Average Return on Ad Spend Sustained over a 12 month period
233% Increase in revenue between Q1 and Q4
Over 1,000 Purchases directly attributed to social in a 12 month period

Uniphar - Relay For Hope
Uniphar is a multinational pharma and medtech manufacturer that deliver to over 160 countries and employ over 2,200+ worldwide.
Uniphar supports a number of different charities and causes through fundraising events during the year.
The Covid-19 pandemic meant that Uniphar had to take a different approach from their usual fundraising activities and events.
Uniphar made the decision to run their first Relay for Hope campaign, a virtual fundraising event driven by social media.
Run, Walk, Swim or Cycle
The Uniphar community signed up and committed to doing either a run, walk, swim or cycle any distance during the weekend of December 4th-6th 2020.
Participants were encouraged to raise funds in the lead up to and during the virtual event, with the funds being raised for six cancer charities in countries where Uniphar has a presence.
Uniphar set the goal of participants covering over 9,000km collectively by running, walking, swimming or cycling – equaling the distance it takes to travel to every Uniphar location!
Social Media Campaign
As a virtual event, the social media campaign for Relay for Hope was central for spreading awareness, encouraging participation and driving donations to the chosen cancer charities.
Stacks Creative worked closely with the team at Uniphar to produce engaging social graphics, motion graphics, and video content. As well as sharing all of the community-generated content both in the lead-up and throughout the campaign.

Pre-Order Pints: McSorley’s Case Study
Since 1991 McSorley’s has been a landmark in the heart of Ranelagh.
Family-owned and run, McSorley’s comfortable surroundings and warm atmosphere have ensured its status as one of Dublin’s best-loved bars. With a comprehensive drinks menu and food 7-days a week it is considered a natural choice for sport lovers in the Dublin 6 area.
The COVID-19 Panedemic presented a serious challenge to Irish pubs and restaurants throughout 2020. McSorley’s wanted to adapt their offering to ensure that they still serve and maintain a relationship with their loyal customers.
McSorley’s made the decision to launch an e-commerce website that would allow customers to order draft beer growlers, pints and cocktails within a 5km radius of McSorley’s in compliance with government restrictions.
Light & Modern Website
Stacks Creative was tasked with developing an e-commerce site that would be simple to use and would complement McSorley’s brand aesthetic.
Considering the sudden nature of the government restrictions the turnaround from concept to a working solution had to be fast.
The Solution
The final website design was a mobile-focused e-ecommerce site. Customers could browse McSorley’s drinks offering, add products to cart and select a suitable time-slot for delivery during checkout.
Social Media Ad Campaign
To get the word out about the new site with growlers, pints and cocktails on offer, we ran a social ad campaign that created awareness and drove traffic to the site. There was a strong level of engagement from McSorley’s online community throughout the campaign.
Outcome & Results
In a difficult time for the Irish drinks industry and at a moment that consumers were keen to support local, the McSorley’s online ordering site opened up a new avenue of business with great response from customers both new and old.
Complemented by a few very sunny weekends, the McSorley’s team worked around the clock to drop pints to the doors of its customers during the COVID 19 lock-down.

For what projects/services did your company hire Stacks Creative, and what were your goals?

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a communications specialist based in San Francisco, and I manage the comms for one of the largest public sector unions in the Bay Area.
For what projects/services did your company hire Stacks Creative?
Our website was created over a decade ago, and we needed to redesign it on a whole new platform. It had to meet our branding specifications, migrate our old data, and it had to serve all the same functions as our old site.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We looked around and decided to go with Stacks Creative because they came with a reliable team, were able to work within our budget, and brought a lot of experience.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
After initial meetings to discuss what our needs were and explore our options, Stacks Creative gave us 3 different design directions as a starting point. We were able to discuss what we liked and didn't like and refine one design until we were happy with it. After that, they built the site in line with this vision, and then we had a couple rounds of feedback with the actual site. Finally, Stacks Creative offered tutorials on how to edit the backend of our new site, so that we could start finishing it and updating it going forward.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
In total we worked with one web developer/designer and a creative director. Having both proved to be essential to bringing the project to life.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Our members and staff have had nothing but positive things to say about our new site. Everyone is thrilled to have such a beautiful, modern, and effective website that finally reflects who we are. Our site is not yet live, but once it is you can visit it.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Even with the fact that some of us were on very different timezones, we managed to always schedule regular meetings, and the Stacks Creative team kept us up to date regularly via email. If we ever needed to talk on the phone we could. Overall the project was on time and we had faith it would be from start to finish.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was extremely impressed with the team's competence and diverse skillset. They always brought a professional and collaborative approach to the work. It was very easy for me to communicate what I was looking for, and Stacks always made it happen, even when they had to get creative with solutions. The whole time they were very personable and fun to work with too! Stacks knows what they're doing, and I'd trust them with any future project.

Web Design for Property Management Company
"Stack Creative identifies and delivers my needs well."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the director of a property management company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Stacks Creative?
I needed a professional website to get the word out about my newly established business.
What was the scope of their involvement?
As I'm in the real estate industry, I needed Stacks Creative to build a website that would elevate my business profile and promote my contact details. We've initially gone with a brochure-type and straightforward webpage but soon decided to upgrade it to make room for more information pages. Their team has integrated the necessary features to create a contact and inquiry page for my potential customers.
What is the team composition?
I work with Cathal (Owner). He's also my main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Stacks Creative?
I already worked with Stacks Creative in the past for a project in my former company. As I'd already tried and tested their reliable services, I was confident that they could help bring my vision come to life again for this project, so I reached out to Cathal.
How much have you invested with them?
I've spent around €1000–€2000 (approximately $1200–$2400 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We kicked off the engagement in May 2021, and it's ongoing. We're scheduled to mark its completion by August.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I've received a lot of positive feedback from my family and acquaintances. As most of us are part of the same industry, I trust that their opinions on the website and my brochure are truly reliable. I'm a quality- and detail-oriented person, so I'm glad that Stack Creative delivers results according to my preferences and business goals. I specifically wanted a professional and sharp-looking website that promotes my services effectively, and Stack Creative has rewarded me with that.
Additionally, Stack Creative has been receptive to my feedback. There were instances wherein the quality of the images attached was compromised, and Cathal was quick to address those and improve the layout.
How did Stacks Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate via email and set up phone calls from time to time. Cathal has been attentive throughout the process — he keeps the project moving and is clear on setting timelines.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Stack Creative identifies and delivers my needs well. We share the common goal of amplifying my business presence, and that's been really helpful in achieving the project's success.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There's nothing else to improve — Cathal has given me a great deal by providing top-notch services at a reasonable price.
Any advice for potential customers?
Provide an outline of your goals and needs, and Stack Creative will deliver that. I'll happily recommend this company to anyone looking for similar services.
