Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the Head of IT Department at MasterFlex, a flexography printing house. Currently, the company employs over 60 specialists.

Our company needed a system that would help to optimize the production process. We had noticed that the process was hampered by the difficulties in communication between the departments.

What were your goals for this project?

The main goals were to make the communication between the MasterFlex departments easier and make the resource management more effective.

How did you select this vendor?

We oriented on price - quality ratio.

During the first year several versions were released for us to test and decide what more do we need and what do we want to change.

They were sent for revision and ultimately, Softacom made for us a system that provided communication between all the departments, including:

  • warehouse
  • and laboratory

The solution checks the materials and finished goods for consistency with requirements.

What was the team composition?

From our part all the departments were involved. The representatives of each department could express their wishes that were always considered by Softacom. Usually, we communicated directly with the programmer from the vendor side.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The system developed by Softacom saved time and resources significantly. It automatized all the calculations. Also, the system allows to move to the next step only when the previous one was completed.

It helps to avoid the mistakes and unnecessary waste of resources. It makes the control over the finished goods and the materials used easier.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Softacom team was easy to communicate with. In addition to phone calls we had a group chat in Skype where all the representatives from our side could express their wishes, comment on the certain functions of the system, and ask questions as they occurred. All our comments were taken into account and all the tasks we assigned were completed in time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We didn’t have any specific statement of work and we wanted to have a possibility of changing something in system functionality while it was in the process of developing.

I was surprised by how quickly and carefully all our requirements that occurred during the work were considered. We always received a feedback and all the refinements were made based on our comments and the specifics of our business.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We are satisfied with everything.

To have an online follow-up on all projects. It was very important to understand the level of project implementation without needing to call a meeting.

Our chief engineer and I had known their director for a long time. They’ve developed special software for security systems for some of our projects before.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I can’t provide documentary any evidence, but I know the project significantly saved time and resources. The owner was very pleased with the result. The savings in overall staff time were significant.

All our comments and suggestions were dealt with in great detail; the team was meticulous about the details. There was only one case when we had to reconsider an earlier decision.

They were able to understand the specifics of our business very quickly, and their project manager was highly skilled.
