My marketing agency took on a client in the beverage and healthcare space. I brought Society 22 on to help establish a brand that resonated with customers but stood out in a crowded space and to create a buzz in the media for the new product launch. Society 22 was a refreshing experience after working with other PR agencies.
They delivered on every aspect of the campaign, creating a successful launch with media coverage in top-tier publications, top-market news stations, placements on beverage lists, and healthcare supplement lists. They have a unique approach that combines creativity, strategy, and a high level of execution. The coverage they secured ensured a successful product launch by creating significant brand awareness and driving sales.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Incredibly responsive team and very well organized. For the overall project management, we had access to the project management board so that we could see in real-time what was being done or what was needed from our team.
We also had regularly scheduled calls to provide status updates and track milestones and KPIs. In between meetings, we had access to the team through Slack and email, and they were always very responsive. Deliverables were always on time and exceeded expectations.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Society 22 integrated into our team, so it felt less like an agency we worked with and more like a combined team. We shared similar values, and the team's energy and positivity are contagious, it was a natural fit.
They are very strategic with securing press to ensure the right story was told with the right messaging and that we were in front of our target audience and buyers. They really took the time to evaluate every aspect of the campaign to ensure it was truly aligned with the brand's goals and became a trusted source for guiding the brand strategy.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Society 22 PR (Formerly Tribe Builder Media) could have done differently?
No, I have nothing but positive feedback. They really have blown every other agency I have worked with out of the water! I am excited to see them change the PR industry.

The agency gave us access to our campaign on Monday.com where we could see all campaign initiatives and the status of each. We had multiple people working on the campaign, we had weekly meetings where all team members were present to go over the status and review our goals. Everyone went above and beyond which made me feel like like they truly believed in me as an artist. The music industry is unpredictable and the team was always able to pivot to take advantage of opportunities in real time.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company? There is no blueprint for breaking a new artist, the ideas and timing of each initiative played a huge role in the momentum that was created for me. They were able to leverage that to secure high level press opportunities like RollingStone as well as impactful music blogs that playlist editors follow. Because of those initiatives I ended up on the coveted Spotify editorial playlist which is unheard of for new artists. Their creative direction on-site for videos and photoshoots helped bring my entire brand together and gave me the confidence I needed to be able to put myself out there as an artist. I've been offered label and distribution deals from the introductions that were made by the Society team that has opened up many doors for me.

Brand-Building & PR for Country Lifestyle Brand
"I’m impressed with how they understand my vision."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a country lifestyle brand. I also have a line of private label products, and I’ve written six books.
What challenges were you trying to address with TribeBuilder Media?
I wanted to get more national media coverage for my brand.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I started working with a publicist based in California about a year and a half prior. That publicist got me a lot of TV coverage, but I had to keep flying out to California for appearances. I switched to TribeBuilder Media to try a different approach and have access to more East Coast-centric media network. They’ve gotten me print, TV, and website coverage at nationally recognized media outlets.
What is the team composition?
I originally spoke with Danielle (Owner). My first account manager was Sydney (Account Manager), but I recently switched to working with Kristen (Account Manager).
How did you come to work with Tribe Builder Media?
My friend recommended them to me.
How much have you invested in them?
We spend about $5,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2020, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s been difficult because of COVID-19. However, we’ve spent this time preparing for when things open up again. I’ve done media training courses, and they’ve been speaking with people at a number of shows including Rachel Ray, Jimmy Fallon, and more.
I’ve been featured on Martha Stewart’s website, Thrive Global, and the AARP newsletter. I’m also going to appear on Cheddar TV via Zoom.
How did Tribe Builder Media perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been really good. I have their cellphone numbers, so I’m able to reach out after hours if needed. We also have biweekly Zoom calls. They always reply to me right away.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed with how they understand my vision. They see where I’m trying to go, and we’re on the same page. We’re in tune with one another.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t think so.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You have to be honest with yourself as far as results, and manage your expectations. You won’t immediately get on the Today Show, but they will help you work towards your goals.

the reviewer

The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the co-founder and CEO of an application (software) company in the mobile personal emergency response space, headquartered in the California Silicon Valley area. We create an Artificial Intelligence and machine learning-driven personal digital health assistant that works with smart wearables, providing caregivers and their loved ones greater connectedness, safety, and peace of mind.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tribe Builder Media?
We hired Tribe Builder Media to help establish our brand identity in the market through our company launch announcement, press events, media outreach and public relations efforts. As a small startup with limited resources, we outsourced to Tribe Builder Media all of our public relations and many of our strategic marketing needs.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to not only increase market awareness of and brand preference for our product through public relations by creating broad appeal in various demographic and psychographic segments, we also wanted to attract potential investors and stimulate greater demand for our product from both a B2B and B2C perspective.
How did you select this vendor?
We researched many advertising, public relations, and marketing companies online, through referrals, and via interviews. We tried others and were unsatisfied with the value provided. We then found Tribe Builder Media online, researched the company, and interviewed the CEO. We knew it was an immediate match after the first interview. The company presented a solid proposal which addressed all of our desired goals, showed an understanding of our needs as well as our market, exuded competence, and demonstrated an enthusiastic willingness to work collaboratively with our team.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
Upon engaging Tribe Builder Media, we held discovery meetings where they further reviewed our marketing collateral, strategies, brand goals, and plans. They proactively initiated regular check-in meetings with our marketing team, collaboratively developed a media outreach plan and worked with us on building press releases, media kits, and other collateral in preparation for our product launch and press conference, as well as other post-release initiatives and campaigns. They immediately suggested high-value strategies that were impressive, relevant, and impactful.
What was the team composition?
We worked closely with the CEO of Tribe Builder Media as well as an account executive. They have collaborated with our Marketing VP, Product Manager, Social Media Manager, and creative film team, as well as our developers, Chief Medical Officer, and other operational team members as required.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
My brother and I (co-founders) would have been overjoyed with 20 media outlets covering our initial product launch. What Tribe Media Builder delivered was over 200 media outlets covering us within the first hour of launch, reaching more than 50 million viewers, again within the first two hours. Our product press release rose to become the #1 story on Yahoo Finance for an entire day, among others. Furthermore, we have been featured in top tier industry magazines and publications, receiving public recognition as the top medical alert system of 2020, and we have also received a 'best brands' award from Industry Wired Magazine, among others. The visibility from Tribe Builder Media's efforts have resulted in a number of new B2B and B2C channels as well. For example, we have been contacted by hospitals and countries wanting to use our product. Their campaigns have also attracted investors. Due to Tribe Builder's fabulous, persistent, and strategic efforts, positive brand preference is definitely taking root. We are not only happy, we are "wow'd".....
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The project manager assigned has been outstanding! She is flexible, extremely effective with follow-up, highly proactive, and personable. Both the CEO and project manager have personally come to events that we have participated in, exhibiting support above and beyond the call of duty. They communicate frequently and well, providing us regular updates and valuable recommendations. We meet at least once a week by phone and communicate via email frequently. They respond even on weekends. We have been truly impressed with how they engage, stay connected, keep abreast of our business and industry, and demonstrate true partnership in every sense of the word. To us, they seem like family!
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We have been blown away not only by their professionalism, effectiveness, and efficiency, but also their huge impact and proven strategic initiative. They think like members of our company, exuding the same care and passion for our business as our own team members. Not only do they leverage their media connections on our behalf, but they have understood and thoughtfully created nuanced messaging catered to appeal to our target markets with precision and tremendous wisdom. They are innovative, forward thinking, and are highly enthusiastic - we are always energized when we speak with them. They deliver way beyond expectations and are tireless advocates of our company. We just love Tribe Media and plan to retain them long into the future. As our company grows, we envision leveraging them for years to come.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No! They are the ideal Marketing and Public Relations firm - we've tried others which don't even come close to them. They don't just get the job done, they deliver well above and beyond expectations. They are over-achievers and strive to delight their clients, creating the highest possible value. They are smart, responsive, dedicated, inspired and inspiring, tenacious, caring, compassionate, clever and creative. We can't say enough good things about Tribe Builder Media - we are and continue to be their greatest fans!

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior director of content and communications at a healthcare cloud software company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tribe Builder Media?
My company hired Tribe Builder Media to increase our market awareness. We wanted to provide our target market—and the publications and influencers that they follow—with great content. We also wanted thought leadership and a unique perspective on how we should view the market and the industry.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our partnership with Tribe Builder Media is ongoing and continuously expanding. They help us build our media relations program by targeting high-level business publications, healthcare and tech media, and local media.
We also work with them on our awards program, where we apply for local, tech, healthcare, or business awards. They help us create customer profiles that highlight how our customers use our technologies. The team pitches these to the media. We use the profiles in interviews and across our content.
For another ongoing program, Tribe Builder Media clarifies what the message should be in press releases announcing product updates or company news. They craft our communication with the media and our partners.
What is the team composition?
On average, we work with 3–4 people. We have a primary point of contact, and then a couple of other team members are brought in for pitching. They're a relatively small, distributed team.
How did you come to work with Tribe Builder Media?
When I joined my company, Tribe Builder Media was already working with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
I joined my company and began working with Tribe Builder Media in August 2017, and the engagement is ongoing. For a brief period of time, we put some of our programs on hold, but we’ve since resumed working together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They understand our point of view and have proven capable of getting our main messages out to a broader audience. Our Share of Voice compared to that of competitors has risen significantly. We’ve just started to rebuild our market awareness, and we’ve already gotten great traction.
How did Tribe Builder Media perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve become an integral part of our content team. Our main point of contact is fantastic, and she has a team that supports her role. We communicate in-person and via phone, conference calls, and email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their media relationships have been extremely valuable in approaching the media and building our own relationships. Together, we’ve built up new relationships with healthcare publications, and they’re constantly working on this.
As a small firm, Tribe Builder Media provides a nimbler, more customized experience, which is different than working with a larger company. The owner’s business acumen has been great.
Are there any areas they could improve?
An industry-wide issue is finding great writers, but that’s not specific to Tribe Builder Media.
Any advice for potential customers?
Make sure they have access to all necessary client information and internal teams and executives. There needs to be an internal understanding of the importance of the work they’re doing. Also, assign somebody within your company to support them.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner of The Studio on Elm, a full-service salon and retail store.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tribe Builder Media?
I hired them for PR, marketing strategy, and business development.
What were your goals for this project?
This is the first business I've owned, and, not having a background or experience in marketing, I wanted to work with an agency that understood the needs of a new business and how to attract clients.
How did you select this vendor?
I found them through a referral
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
Tribe Builder Media built out my go-to-market plan, down to the detail of what myself and the other stylists needed to do on a daily basis to support their high-level marketing initiatives. They handled various tasks such as reaching out to press. Danielle (Founder & CEO, Tribe Builder Media) met with all my staff on multiple occasions to teach them about personal branding and how to bring in new clients.
What was the team composition?
We have two account executives and then Danielle who also works directly with us.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The first 90 days I was open, I ended up doing over $100,000 in sales. I couldn't have done the same numbers on my own without their strategy. We've now been open for over two years, and other salons talk about how good our social is. We've even been able to attract stylists that have called us "their dream salon" just based on what we're doing on social and how we're sharing our work.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
They were extremely organized leading up to and during the launch and helped us get organized from a project management perspective. As stylists, we tend to be less project-focused and more creative, so that was incredibly helpful.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I’m most impressed with their strategy and execution by far.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None come to mind.
