Transformative Marketing, Software & UX
CoE is an online learning platform delivering transformative education. When we started working with CoE in 2015, it had an excellent purpose and a burgeoning network of learners, selling 16,000 courses per year in 22 countries with 500,000 annual users. It was clear, however, that the customer experience and roadmap to scalability needed further development.
The Strategy
We took a long-term view on the brand, immediately recognising the sector’s potential for explosive global growth. This acknowledged the need to establish an omnichannel marketing strategy for an efficient and rapid roadmap to scalability. We also created an expansive plan to improve UX ahead of these growth milestones and harness the transformative power of CoE’s courses as a marketing channel in its own right.
We helped CoE identify their USP as a ‘subculture of learning’ and that we could leverage this life-changing impact to forge a community. The unique nature of e-learning meant that to service this circle completely, we needed web solutions interlinking every stakeholder within it - course creators, CoE staff, assessors and the learners.
The Results
We understood that the learner’s user experience is dependent on the journeys undertaken by all stakeholders. We developed a fully functioning ecosystem interlinking each so that it isn’t just our marketing strategy that is holistic but the architecture that all these protagonists inhabit together. Site engagement is at an all-time high, with Alexa.com stating an average time of 9:07 per user, compared to 2:12 in 2015.
This has worked side by side with a complete re-imagining of the brand to achieve global omnipresence. This included a huge upturn when we helped CoE answer the calls of thousands worldwide looking to upskill and improve their mental health during lockdown, with 2020 seeing a 220% YoY increase to 2,000,000 monthly users. Overall, we’ve extended CoE’s services to sell in 150 countries, a 581% increase and 77% of the planet.

Responsive Website for National Tyre Company
The Brief
For its mobile tyre-fitting service, the AA required a custom-built responsive website that would allow its customers to place tyre orders online and have them fitted at a location of their choosing. The website had to accurately represent the AA brand and its core values, whilst providing exceptional user experience (UX) by streamlining the customer journey.
In order to best execute the brief, we separated the project into three main areas: design, technical, and UX. We had to ensure these aspects came together seamlessly in order to maximise sales.
How We Helped
- We planned the customer journey
We carried out extensive market research into the mobile fitting sector, prototyping, innovating, and wireframing various ways to present and refine the products and data. This allowed us to make sure the process to find and filter tyres on the site was as organic and streamlined as possible.
- We used a mobile-first approach
Our mobile-first approach gave us the chance to present a native-style experience to customers on mobile devices, offering them better UX and resulting in higher conversions and increased revenue.
- We used CRO software to drive decisions
Once live we used specialist CRO software to drive business decisions around further refining the UX and checkout process.
- We made the site scalable
Built on a Cloud-based hosting solution, and making use of extensive caching techniques, the site is instant in response and scalable to huge traffic spikes.
- We implemented data synchronisation
Customer satisfaction is paramount to the AA so it was essential all data remained accurate. That's why we implemented data synchronisation.
- We included intelligent merchandising
Due to the fact our research found that the majority of purchases in the tyre sector are driven by recommendations, we made sure the site offers users suggestions that provide the best value and quality against their criteria.

New Website and Paid Marketing for UK Theme Park
After investing millions into opening new park attractions, Blackpool Pleasure Beach turned its focus to developing a world-class website and paid media marketing strategy.
Therefore, they tasked us with redesigning their website and implementing a paid marketing strategy to support their sales target.
How We Helped
Our strategy involved refreshing the brand logo, creating a new streamlined and responsive website, and incorporating a gift shop section for park merchandise and show tickets.
With over 40% of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s traffic and a huge percentage of its revenue coming through on mobile and tablet devices, we made sure the user experience was as exciting and engaging on mobile as it is on desktop.
We introduced easy access navigation and tabs to keep content above the fold, along with a clean user interface ensuring each element is easily distinguishable from the next. With features such as streamlined checkout page optimisation, we also ensured the theme park maximised their conversion opportunities.
Furthermore, we produced a visual language that was simple and easy to understand, and came up with an eye-catching new logo that emphasised the sense of anticipation and excitement of the amusement park.
In regards to our paid media strategy, we ran PPC and social media campaigns to push promotional offers, increase ticket purchases, and remarket to the right audiences.
Ultimately, major results were achieved through highly relevant demographic targeting, the careful selection of messages used in social posts and page engagement campaigns, and intelligent judgements made on the timing of posts.
The Results
Our website redesign and paid marketing strategy led to:
- A 216% increase in transactions.
- A 329% increase in revenue.
- A 36% increase in average order value.

Web-Based App Build for a Local Council
As part of an initiative to promote healthier practices amongst new families, LCC wanted to introduce a behavioural change programme to improve the health of newborns.
After a competitive pitch process we were selected, based on our vision and track record of creating high-quality projects, to develop a web-based app that encouraged new mums to breastfeed.
Our fully integrated service ensured we would encompass the three key aspects of the project: a new brand identity for the campaign, an intuitive web-based application, and a digital marketing campaign to reinforce the council’s message and improve sign-ups.
Developing the App
We set out to develop a visual style that was warm and playful, representing the bond between mother and child. The typography selected dovetailed this philosophy, and was accompanied by a contemporary take on traditional baby colour schemes.
Due to the fact that screen estate is limited on mobile platforms, the visual language of the app had to be clear, simple, and concise. We introduced space-saving and visually engaging iconography to provide shortcuts to key features of the app.
Following an Agile approach, we collaborated with numerous workgroups, adapting and developing the app based on customer feedback.
Our Digital Marketing Strategy
We created highly targeted PPC advertising campaigns tailored towards an audience we pre-defined through extensive market research. We found mothers to be actively tuned into online communities, allowing us to display targeted messages in relevant online environments such as Facebook, Google Paid Search, and Google Display Network. The key benefit of this approach was a higher opportunity for engagement as ads were personalised to the needs of the audience.
The Results
Ultimately, in the first week of the project, we were able to capture 142 sign ups.

Delivering Excellence in Digital
Diversey had three clear goals:
- To generate a significant upturn in marketing qualified leads.
- To build brand awareness about their company and key cleaning products.
- To fulfil their mission to become the one-stop-shop that big businesses choose for their hygiene and cleaning solutions.
We identified early that their products delivered a fantastic value offering, but the results didn’t match. Achieving these goals would require a holistic approach across several services and a strategy incorporating lead generation, customer personas, inbound marketing and PPC management services.
After an extensive persona development process, we created content around four powerful content themes that appealed directly to their pain points and fitted with Diversey’s products, brand, and mission. This enabled us to help Diversey learn more about the desires of prospective leads whilst feeding content that reinforced the brand as an industry authority and trusted support body.
The Results
With the backdrop of heightened interest in developing hygiene standards around Covid-19, we used interactive quizzes and assessments as gated content. The answers a user gave allowed us to know if they were or weren’t a potential customer who would benefit from Diversey’s products and relaying Diversey’s understanding of the sector.
We then built sophisticated microsites to handle the increased traffic we anticipated after auditing the capabilities of Diversey’s site, setting us up to power a higher volume of traffic. Overall we increased organic traffic by 692.75% and improved the average CTR (click-through rate) for Google adverts by 421.43%. We also delivered a massive boost to ROI, reducing CPC (cost per conversion) by 72.5%.

SEO and CRO for a Large UK Housebuilder
The Redrow team came to us with two main tasks:
- SEO
To drive quality, high-intent traffic to their website by dominating Google’s top positions, leveraging SEO for all UK-wide locations for key housing developments. They wanted to dominate their competition and be the first stop in a user's journey.
- CRO
To deliver a top-notch online customer experience that engaged and, ultimately, converted the traffic being driven to their site.
How We Boosted SEO
Our SEO experts carried out masses of research and analysis to understand exactly where Redrow's SEO was falling down. This involved identifying keyword gaps on their website, discovering the best onsite content opportunities (based on high-ranking articles, news topics, and top-performing keywords), and delving into the SEO strategy and activities of Redrow's main competitors.
They also acknowledged and accomplished technical work which involved a number of complex fixes surrounding page speed, ensuring users could easily engage, navigate, and interact with the website.
Other areas we focused on from an SEO perspective were optimising their content and creating location pages to target users in specific locations, and improving their Google My Business profile.
How We Helped Them Convert
We carried out a series of innovative CRO testing techniques, aiming to fully understand a typical user’s journey, behaviour, and site experience.
This led to us discovering that a long online form was mostly to blame because it had a high bounce rate.
To ensure the form web page achieved high conversion, we redesigned the form to create the best possible user experience (UX) and put a stop to the friction it caused. This consisted of a simple and straightforward design and structure, so it was quick and easy for users to digest and fill in, without confusion or hesitation.
The Results
Our activities led to:
- A 164% uplift in enquiries
- A 40% increase in completed appointment forms
- A 36% increase in organic traffic

UX Design & Website Optimization for Trade Association
“They’re very proactive and I feel like I’m in good hands.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing and communications manager at the British Woodworking Federation. We’re a membership-based, trade association that looks after the woodworking manufacturing businesses in the U.K.
What challenge were you trying to address with Soap Media?
We needed help driving engagement across five websites.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Soap Media is our WordPress website partner. For the past 15 months, they’ve helped us with SEO (on an ad-hoc basis) and UX for our sites. They showed us how we can make content and help figure out where users have dropped off, while also creating clearer call-to-actions.
Next, they’ve redeveloped one of our websites. For the other sites, they’ve made incremental changes to help maximize our return on investment. Finally, we’re in the process of integrating a new e-learning system.
What is the team composition?
We communicate with an account manager and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Soap Media?
We weren’t happy with our last supplier in terms of project management, expertise, and return on investment. I spoke to five companies and ended up with a shortlist of three. We went with Soap Media purely because their pitch was really strong and they were confident in their approach; we felt they actually had the skills to deliver.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2019, and we’re contracted together until the end of 2020. I don’t see that changing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The templates they’ve designed for us have been great. The engagement level, bounce rate, and CTAs have all increased. People are downloading forms and we’ve had an increase in new member inquiries because our proposition is clearer than before. All of the pages they’ve worked on are better performing.
How did Soap Media perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication is impressive. I’ve got no complaints to date. We use Google Docs, and they show a clear report on the time they spend and those allocations. They’re very transparent.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They take the time to understand the business and use data to inform decisions. They’re very proactive and I feel like I’m in good hands. We also like that the team doesn’t speak technical language to make themselves feel good. They’re very trustworthy, compared to our last vendor.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They have high growth potential. They’re probably working at full capacity at the moment and they need to bring on more staff to keep their current clients happy.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to have monthly catch-ups with them or status updates. Be collaborative, since the relationship works both ways. It’s important to give them timely feedback to achieve success.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a director at Money Protector, providing accident sickness and unemployment insurance.
For what projects/services did your company hire Soap Media?
I hired Soap Media to come up with the new company name, logo, branding and complete website development with ongoing marketing once complete.
What were your goals for this project?
The main goal was to have a site whereby each client could obtain quotes online and then apply for their desired cover. The time was set to have the site up and running for September.
How did you select this vendor?
I initially selected Soap Media based on the clients they had previously worked for, once I had met and discussed my requirements they seemed well up for it and capable of delivering.
Describe the project in detail.
The project was to come up with a website name that would interest clients to visit, obtain quotes and apply for insurance online. Soap media thought up the name, secured the domain name and developed a suitable logo and website along with stationery to suit.
What was the team composition?
Initially we were assigned a project manager who has guided the development of all aspects of the project to completion, all with the time limits and to an excellent standard!
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I expect with the new system to grow our annual sales by 300% based on the fact that clients can quote and buy online rather than having to make an enquiry and then proceed via email.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication was excellent! Mostly consisting of emails and a call once a week to discuss how the project was going, any further requirements etc.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I was impressed from my initial visit to Soap right throughout the project to completion. The whole project has far exceeded my expectations.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None!

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We develop health and safety compliance solutions for Fortune 500 companies. I’m the company owner and visionary.
What challenge were you trying to address with Soap Media?
Most of our sales are through referrals, so we’ve never done much marketing. We wanted to generate more quality leads, expand our brand presence, and strive for growth. The first thing we needed was a new website. The old site didn’t match our company or our customers, and we needed to go back to the drawing board.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They designed and developed a new site that completely refreshes our brand’s look and feel. The redesign makes us look much larger and more appropriate for our client base. Since then, we’ve worked together to brainstorm new ways to generate leads and stimulate growth.
They’re handling all of our marketing, and are training me to be more of an expert. We limited our sales and marketing team up to this point, which has hampered our growth potential in the past. They’ve integrated me into HubSpot, and we work in unison to mix my experience in the industry with their knowledge of marketing.
What is the team composition?
We have one main point of contact with them.
How did you come to work with Soap Media?
We found them years ago through a web search for local design companies. They were always good at marketing, which was a major reason we chose them the first time. The site they designed for us about eight years ago was one of the best we’ve ever had, but we decided to bring those services in-house after a few years. Our marketing was lagging, so we decided to renew our partnership with them earlier this year. We already knew what they were capable of, and we trusted them because of our previous collaboration.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent the equivalent of about $50,000 this year.
What is the status of this engagement?
The new collaboration started in June or July 2018 and is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
What they’ve done is amazing. Our customers are really excited about the changes, and we get a lot of good feedback from some of our larger clients. The old brand didn’t feel like us, and our logo was previously meaningless. Now, our whole image matches the reasons we exist as a company, and all our team members and best customers are happy with the change.
How did Soap Media perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication and time management are incredible. They answer whenever I call, flex to accommodate meetings before or after hours, and are willing to work with my schedule. They join us via Zoom for our weekly meetings and act as a surrogate leader in our organization. Whether we communicate by email, text, or phone, they feel like they really work for me.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The team fits together so well, and they deliver fantastic results. They work well together, deliver on time, and give us a great experience. Their passion matches or exceeds that of our internal staff, and I’m constantly impressed by them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have difficulty coming up with anything they should improve. Their costs match the quality they provide, and for us, they're fairly affordable.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They are very passionate about the work they do, and the entire team responds well to positive feedback or criticism. They’re happy to listen to us if we don’t like something, but we often really appreciate what they do.

Website & Digital Marketing for E-Learning Platform
“The quality and service we’re getting are absolutely fantastic.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re an e-learning provider selling a wide range of courses.
What challenge were you trying to address with Soap Media?
I’d worked with a website company before, and I was really disappointed, so I was cautious with the current project, given that we were spending a lot of money on it. We approached Soap Media for help building a new website from scratch.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Soap Media developed our website over the course of a year. We completely redesigned the software. We’ve worked on digital marketing with them since then, mainly PPC. They’ve helped us rebrand, creating a new logo and look-and-feel and helped design it from scratch. We’ve asked them to design many things for us, from the certificates we give to learners after completing a course, to the front covers of our audio courses.
What is the team composition?
They assigned us a project manager, and we’ve also worked with the managing and marketing director on the PPC side and another one of their members on the development side.
How did you come to work with Soap Media?
I heard about them through a referral from someone who’d worked with them to build their website. I looked at that site and thought it was fantastic. We had a few meetings to see if they could do what we wanted them to do.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve modified the site a lot over the last year, given that our business has changed so much. The total is in the range of £400,000 ($528,360 USD) including PPC and SEO, on which we spend around £10,000 ($13,209 USD) per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Soap Media in 2016. We have an ongoing collaboration.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everybody always comments on how amazing the website is. It was a massive project and a complex development process, but the new website has completely transformed our business. Our sales have gone up by 60% since launching the website a year ago. They’ve helped turn what was a small company two years ago into a big institution. They’ve helped us become a multimillion-pound company, so it’s been worth the investment.
How did Soap Media perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a dedicated project manager who’s been fantastic. He’s approachable and he can address any question. We have weekly team calls with him to catch up and get an overview on how everything’s performing. We also have weekly meetings with our PPC campaign manager. She goes through everything and gives us a full report on how we’re performing. We are an online training company, so we tend to use online systems for screen sharing and chat. We use tools like GoToMeeting and Zoom. We have also met Soap Media in person.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their design team is excellent. The website amounts to our presence as a business, and it’s fantastic. Their designer has done brilliant work on our collateral. Soap Media is also strong on digital marketing. They’ve delivered fantastic results, which speak for themselves. The quality and service we’re getting are absolutely fantastic.
Are there any areas they could improve?
As a company, we’re happy with everything. If there were any issues, Soap Media handled them quickly, and they were willing to listen to us.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Clients should approach Soap Media with a clear vision of what they want to achieve. This will help them bring the product to life. Their software development and design teams are fantastic.

Please describe your company and your position there.
mda is the UK's leading marketing services specialist responsible for the design, storage, collation and distribution of marketing materials across Europe for the worlds biggest brands. As the marketing manager for the business, I am responsible for generating interest for our services from new prospects, supporting the retention of our portfolio of clients, customer insight and experience, and brand management.
For what projects/services did your company hire Soap Media?
mda hired Soap Media for the design, build, launch, and maintenance of our new corporate website.
What were your goals for this project?
Ultimately, our primary metric was to generate more relevant leads for our services via the website. Secondly, we wanted to increase the number of organic search traffic to the site, increase our conversion rate, and increase our brand sentiment. We were also going through multiple rebrands during this time, under our single mda "master brand." Thus, a seamless technical transition spanning multiple pre-existing sites was crucial.
How did you select this vendor?
Soap Media were selected on the back of a competitive tender over a three month period against six other specialist web development agencies. Soap was neither an incumbent nor a personally known supplier at the time of being invited to tender. Thus, we had no pre-existing relationship, awareness of their expertise, and week over week (WoW).
Soap responded fantastically to our tender, meeting and exceeding our desired objectives. They were shortlisted for our presentation stage and impressed us by showcasing a fantastic mix of technical understanding and skill, an attention to detail and outstanding design, and examples of their recently completed work. They gave us complete confidence in their ability to deliver our new site. Soap Media was unanimously selected by our committee as our preferred supplier, and we were both delighted and excited to award them our contract.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
Soap provided full-website design, CMS implementation, hosting, and maintenance. They also integrated our marketing automation platform.
What was the team composition?
Soap assigned technical, wireframe, design, and development teams to our project.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
As a result of our new site, we were able to attribute a 500% increase in relevant and qualified leads for our services. Furthermore, our incremental leads and converted business generated from the new site covered the cost of their services within a few months.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The project was handled brilliantly. Led by project lead and supported by a number of Soap team members, the project was on a strict timeline. Because of the complexities of our project, we could not delay and wait for our supplier. However, at no point did this happen with Soap, as they met all milestones and always completed on time or ahead of schedule. Due to the thoroughness of their response to our brief, we had no gaps in communication and no changes to price or timelines. They mitigated risk by thoroughly understanding our requirements beforehand. As the project evolved, heir team listened closely to feedback on certain elements and finer details to rework as our preferences.
I must say, their team really were fantastic. Having worked with other agencies on similar projects, we think Soap was one of the best in terms of being approachable and positive while facing challenging objectives. They created solutions with a great UX and designed it for future improvements as much as possible.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Soap impressed me very much. Working with them was an absolute pleasure, and we developed touchpoints with all their team members. I trust them completely and actively seek their advice. They always gave me an honest opinion and a range of solutions. Their balance of design, technical ability, and professionalism was really impressive. Soap's quality of work was incredible and they were all down-to-earth.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
An agency of this quality should be working with even higher-profile clients than they already do. They should really market themselves. We've been so impressed we've recommended them to our clients too.

After identifying the requirement to generate more cost-effective leads into the business, Soap recommended we test LinkedIn as a proven cost-effective channel for targeting specific market sectors relevant to our target audience.
