I’m the CTO of Poetizer, a social network for poetry.

What challenge were you trying to address with SKOUMAL, s.r.o.?

We needed help building a new version of our platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were responsible for the analysis, design, development, and communication during our MVP project. They built our website and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The platform has user registration and interaction through typical social media functions such as comments, likes, and followers.

There was an issue with the migration of profiles from the previous platform as we needed to keep users, passwords, and other data. SKOUMAL, s.r.o. was able to migrate with no problems.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 5–7 people from their team, including the CEO, who was the main partner. For the second phase, we connected directly with the developers of each platform, with around six people involved.

How did you come to work with SKOUMAL, s.r.o.?

They won our tender because of the pricing, the delivery dates, and their people. They delivered what they promised from the beginning, which was the key thing for us.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was around 1 million Czech korunas (approximately $30,000–$40,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them October 2018–April 2019. We’re looking to expand the functionalities of the platform, so we’re still in touch with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have some data from our support team, which is responsible for the communication with our users. There were small bugs related to the web platform, but overall, nothing too serious.

How did SKOUMAL, s.r.o. perform from a project management standpoint?

The MVP project was set for four months, but it took six months to complete, which they were flexible with. They’re a young company, but the collaboration was perfect. It was mostly done via Slack and video calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a part of our team and are young, flexible, and responsible. Their communication and delivery management are amazing for us. They delivered what they promise, which was important for us and our users.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We don’t have face-to-face meetings with them, so a more human touch could improve our collaboration, though we haven’t requested it. On some occasions, it took us a bit more time to explain requirements.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I recommend them for a scope similar to ours, but I have no specific tips.

I am a tax manager at a multinational professional services firm that provides tax, accounting, assurance, and advisory services to various clients.

We hired them to develop a mobile application.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a new platform to replace our old and outdated one.

Not only were they a Czech-based vendor familiar with the local market, but they also offered the most value for the best price.

SKOUMAL created a new app that displays news to our clients, promotes our services and events, and attracts new employees through job postings.

The team consisted of a tax manager and a knowledge management specialist.

We are very satisfied with the application, which has received a lot of positive feedback.
