GBA: Business Awards Wordpress Website
After the old GBA developer decided to pack up and leave, we moved in and started creating a better solution. The UI and UX was completely rehauled and the sitemap was reorganised for better navigation. The website was then connected with a government service, the Australian Business Register via custom API, to prevent duplicate data being processed.
The major concentration for this project was the elmination of uneccessary work for the entirely volunteer GBA staff. This meant streamlining the complex nomination and entry processes (a combination of web form and email magic) while ensuring the backend automated most data processes.
Our estimates on time saved is at 60% which is a win for everyone!

Floss'd: Custom Website and API Ecommerce Solution
Floss’d is a quirky family-run candy floss making business that has been recently updated with a new e-commerce platform. We created a brand new website for them that provides their customers with the ability to purchase products online and have them delivered directly to their front door.
The challenges involved were to create a bespoke API ecommerce solution to streamline Square payments into an custom made invoicing system, whilst also integrating a custom shopping cart experience that was unique to Floss’d.

I am the co-founder and co-director of Floss'd. A small business offering personalised party/event favours inspired by carnival sweets and snacks.
For what projects/services did your company hire Simplypress Pty Ltd?
We partnered with Simplypress to redesign our website, with a core focus on UX, design, user engagement and more specifically around creating automated efficiencies between customers and administration.
How did you select this vendor?
We shortlisted a number of agencies, however Simplypress was the only development business that understood the pain point we were seeking to resolve. They took a very consultative approach in ensuring they met our needs beyond just building a website.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The team conducted a very detailed approach in understanding the desired design and functioning elements. We first went into a blueprint design structure of what the website could potentially look like and operate. Understood the technical requirements such as API integration, where and how information was being collected and how that information needed to be stored for reason of creating better efficiencies.
As the website was being developed we were heavily involved in all aspects ensuring the solution they were providing rounded back to the original scope and the desired work required.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Directly we were involved with 3 of their resources, one from a consultative approach, technical build and another regarding integration.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We were absolutely pleased with the outcome. Not only did the website look unique, it presented our content and information they way we envisioned it and the integration between all moving parts lined up perfectly. For example the online quote form, now not only send through notifications to all parties, it integrates with our invoicing system, reducing the administration workload by 3 days. Massive savings in time allowing us to continue to grow the business as scalability was bottlenecked by the volume of work.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The project was well communicated. Multiple contacts throughout each milestone, honest, direct and very informative. We were able to funnel all communication through to David, who in return ensure all of his team was well prompted with the right information to approach to project effectively and efficiently.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their approach. They carried a lot of integrity and constantly seek to find solutions even if particular functions desired was limited to the tools and solutions available. They didn't focus to much on selling their solution to us, instead spent time we understand our core requirements and provided a multitude of options to ensure it fit within our budget and had the result we were after.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Cannot fault. Simplypress is a force not to reckon with. They are definitely going to be a powerhouse agencies in the market. I'm so glad we are privileged to work with such a team of brilliant minded individuals.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the chairperson of Gippsland Business Awards, a regional association that effectively identifies and recognizes local businesses’ excellence.
What challenge were you trying to address with Simplypress Pty Ltd?
We needed help with web development. Our previous provider resigned with short notice, and we needed to complete the project. Additionally, we wanted to improve our site, streamline it, and make it more user-friendly.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Simplypress built a WordPress website from scratch for us. Since then, they’ve been refining it, improving it, and coming up with innovative ways to make it smoother and better.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with 2–3 people from Simplypress, from whom the principal is my main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Simplypress Pty Ltd?
We looked around for different options and chose Simplypress for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they met the right price point we wanted. Secondly, they were enthusiastic, interested, and willing to build a product that worked as we wanted it to, as opposed to the other vendors, who told us what we needed instead of asking what we wanted. The interest and understanding that Simplypress showed were impressive.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $10,000 AUD (approximately $7,500 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around May 2020, and we launched the site around April 2021. Our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The feedback from our entrants and sponsors about the new website has been very positive. They’ve said that it looks great and its usability and effectiveness are very solid.
As our awarding is a voluntary process, we only operate from April–August each year, the period during which we get the applications, evaluate the businesses, and grant the awards. Thus, we don’t have any concrete numbers regarding growth or traffic increase.
How did Simplypress Pty Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?
Simplypress has performed well. They’re a growing business, so they’re still going through a learning process. Still, this makes them be very adaptable and responsive as the situation changes; they’re a very dynamic team. We communicate via email, Teams and Zoom meetings, and in-person meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Simplypress’s main strength is their responsiveness. Whenever we’ve had issues, they’ve fixed them within 24 hours or less. They always dive straight into the problem and come back with a solution.
Additionally, they distinguish themselves from their competitors by their willingness and approachability. They listen to our needs and are very open to suggestions. They also offer a very informative approach, explaining the pros and cons of our ideas to help us build the product in the way we want to. Overall, they’re very engaging, willing to listen, and focused on creating what we need.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Not really. We only had an issue early in our engagement around understanding the complexity of what we needed. After we started working together, I realized that my project was more complex than I first thought, and it was a learning process for Simplypress as well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Fully understand what you need and have a clearly documented outline of your requirements before meeting with Simplypress. We initially talked about what we wanted and some concepts. However, if we had gone to them with more documentation, they would’ve given me a clearer indication of what we really required.
