Bion is a Portuguese company working player´s visibility and opportunity. The platform allows players to request for a certified scout during their game (Uber model), staying then with a public profile which is searchable by clubs, agents and other stakeholders. I´m CEO & Co-Founder.

We´ve teamed up with a few vendors, all searched online. Significa was an easy choice as we rapidly felt a huge team spirit, high competences, and experience.

We had one kick-off meeting to review scope and define dates. 1st phase was to design our solution, working just with PM and Designers. 2nd phase our focus was development, but always with designers to support. ReactJS for Front-End and Elixir for Back-End

A project manager was our main point of contact, working with more 2 designers and 2 developers (front and back-end)

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

It was a new solution launched to the market so is not possible to compare or analyse any type of historic, although, the platform was like we´ve imagined, working without bugs and with an exceptional design. In the first 3 months we had 380 new users which is great.

We wanted to build a new website. We already had a website, but we wanted to build a new one from scratch.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Significa has developed a new website for us. Initially, we provided them with analysis and data of our users and consumers, such as their purchases and behavior on the website. We also shared what we thought would be the biggest opportunities in creating a new website.

For the website design, we already had a few brand guidelines, but we didn't have a design system. Therefore, Significa also created a design system for us from scratch. As for the technology stack, Significa has used Figma for the designs, Storyblok as the CMS, and Shopify as the backend e-commerce integration. Significa has already delivered the project, but we're now on a retainer.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to our new website, we've reached a 16% increase in conversion rates, which is how we measure revenue in our company. Additionally, our website is more in line with our branding guidelines, and overall, the technologies that we're using are better than before.

How did Significa perform from a project management standpoint?

Significa has delivered on time and on budget. The project manager is very helpful and very good, so he has kept everything in line.

What did you find most impressive about them?

By the end of the project, we decided to start working with a team of designers and developers from Significa on an ongoing basis. Thus, we've also gained the support of a technology team from their company. Overall, our project has been amazing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

All I would ask would be for them not to get more customers so that we can have all their attention.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Keep an open mind and trust the process. Every agency has different processes, and Significa really likes to have a lot of autonomy, so it's important to give them freedom. Moreover, ensure that your goal is clear and that you know the metrics that you'll use to evaluate the project. In our case, our main metric is revenue due to conversion rates. Significa has a lot of ownership of projects, so they'll take care of your project and company and be part of your weekly work.

They were great thought partners, which required them to really understand our business and our objectives, which enabled them to push our thinking. Had they just executed on our vision, we would have ended up with an inferior end result. They communicated a better way to capture our vision through creative visual design, and we got a better end result because of it.

As in any project we had some small misfires (internal to them it seemed like, eg scoping the project, webflow v storyblok) but they were great actually about addressing issues and proposing ways to resolve.

Our goal is to create a drone-based solution for efficient fish tracking in coastal waters. This initiative will reduce fuel costs and emissions while increasing safety and competitiveness for fishermen. Additionally, we'll use drones to monitor marine debris and biodiversity for conservation. The success of this solution hinges on processing and displaying collected data for coastal fishermen. 

To achieve this, we required a robust backend platform for data storage and processing, along with a user-friendly front-end interface. This interface will visually present detailed information about detected fish schools and ocean litter on a map, including images, location, time, date, data source, and quantitative data. 

Phase 1 of the development focuses on initiating the development of the Peladrone Service application. The primary goal is to create a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that can display drone-collected data effectively. This phase lays the foundation for the subsequent phases of the project. Key Tasks and Activities: 

1. Define MVP App Architecture: Determine the underlying structure and framework for the Peladrone Service application. 
2. Initiate Backend Development: Create the backend infrastructure for data storage, which will be essential for processing incoming data.

2. User Interface: The creation of a user-friendly application interface that allows coastal fishermen and other end users to interact with the app seamlessly. Positive user feedback and ease of use indicate success in user interface design. 
3. Data Display: The capability to display drone-collected data effectively on the application interface, showcasing details such as images, location, time, date, data source, qualitative, and quantitative data. This demonstrates the core functionality of the app.

It was great as evidenced by the quality of the output. Dedicated project management, lead designer directly working with us, the CEO checking in directly with me every week etc was all super effective.

The hardcore specialist ability in design. .There are a lot of folks who will churn out good looking design that actually wont work in the wild. But its when working with talent like Andre, that you relaize what good work really is. For example, they would predict issues that we will have if we went a certain way or choose a specific option and it would turn out to be true months later.

Maybe have less holidays in Portugal? lol. Every startup wants speed. But after a year, we realize that it was time well spend really thinking and going deep and detailed at that time
