We hired Set Fire Creative to help with SEO, PPC, and landing pages. There is a lot of competition for construction companies in our area. We needed help standing out among all of the competition.
How did you select this vendor?
Set Fire Creative came highly recommended by a few different businesses they work with. We visited their site, read over their reviews and case studies, and then decided to book a free consultation. We were in the middle of talking to a few other advertising agencies at the same time, but Set Fire Creative's team just seemed to know what they were talking about.
Also, the other agencies made some pretty hefty promises. Set Fire Creative, on the other hand, was very transparent with us and explained why they wouldn't guarantee results or couldn't tell us the exact amount of leads we would receive each month. We really appreciated the honesty!

The day after we signed a contract with Set Fire Creative, we hopped on an introductory call so that I could meet the team that would be working on our account. After that call, they got to work on our SEO audit, they started creating landing pages, and they began building out our Google ad campaigns.
About a week after that initial call, our landing pages were live and our ads were running. Our SEO audit was completed in the first month, then they did keyword research, and then, ever since then, they take time each month to post new content to our website and get us backlinks.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with an account executive at Set Fire Creative. Then the account executive works with their internal team to get everything done. I like it that way because then I don't have to worry about working with five different people.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The first couple of months started off a little slow, but that's exactly what they told us to expect. They spent the first month or so testing out different ads, audiences, and landing pages. By month three we were rocking and rolling.
SEO is more of a long-term play, so we saw results with our organic SEO efforts come month 5 or 6 I believe. We rank for a lot more keywords now than we did a year ago and are even on page 1 of Google for several keywords. Now, we have a steady flow of leads coming in each month through the PPC ads and from SEO!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was really easy. Most of our conversations happen over email. We hop on a call maybe once a month. I like it that way. They handle bringing in leads and I stay busy doing my job. I don't want to micromanage them. They know what they're doing.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I appreciate how on top of everything they are. I really haven't had to ever reach out to check up on them or see what they're doing. I get weekly check-ins from them and a monthly report that goes over everything they've done the month prior and what they plan on doing the next month.
Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?
Nope. I mean, we were a little nervous the first month. We were hoping to see instant results—turn PPC ads on one day, get 100 leads the next day. We've since learned that digital marketing takes time, testing, and patience. So maybe that's more on us for not having the right expectations.

Earlier this year, we were looking to increase our lead flow. We were doing absolutely no digital marketing. Originally, we were just sending out mailers based on lists I was curating. We hired Set Fire Creative to build landing pages, run our Google Ads, and manage our social media channels.

We had heard great things about them from some of their other clients. When we were introduced, we had a great strategy call with one of their client strategists. They knew what they were talking about and were very professional on the phone. They've also worked with wholesaling businesses before, so they had experience in our industry.

First, we spoke with one of their client strategists. They asked us what our goals are and what our current digital marketing looks like. From there, they met with their team to put together a strategy for our business. Just a few days after our original call, we had another call with their client strategist who walked us through their suggested strategy. We loved it! We told them it was perfect and that we were ready to move forward. They sent us over a contract, we signed, and the very next morning we were getting started. We had a kickoff call with our dedicated account executive who walked through our goals, our strategy, and expectations. Then, right there on the phone, they gained all of the access they needed to our social media channels, website, and Google Ads account. Within about five business days, they sent me Google ad previews and a content calendar for social media. We were able to provide some feedback on everything before they pushed it live. They also sent over the landing page within a week. Overall, a very smooth process. Now, each month, they send over a monthly report going over our results from Google Ads, social media, and the landing pages.

We worked with two client strategists overall and then one account executive. The account executive is our point of contact that we can call or email anytime we have any questions or need to update our ads.

Ever since starting with Set Fire Creative, our leads have gone through the roof! Obviously, social media for our business is more for branding purposes, but the Google Ads and landing pages have been a huge success. We see ten times the amount of leads we were seeing before when we were just sending out mailers.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Super effective and very seamless. They were very easy to get a hold of when I needed to. But I also like that we had a kickoff call that went over everything and then from there, they were able to take everything over.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They have been a joy to work with. The team remarkably helped with things that were beyond their scope of work. For instance, if they notice a link on our site isn't working, they just go ahead and fix it themselves. They really wanted to see our business succeed.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not really! I mean, before we signed up, we did ask if we could talk to one of the other wholesale clients they had worked with, but they let us know that they prefer not to ask that of their clients. They don't want to put that burden on their clients is what I think they said. We just wanted to make sure we were making the right move, and we thought that talking to another client would seal the deal. But now we totally understand why they prefer not to do that. I love Set Fire Creative, but I'm too busy with my own business to be hopping on sales calls for them left and right. That was really the only minor hiccup we had in the beginning, but now I completely understand.

Set Fire Creative generously consulted with us and ran a site diagnostic to help get us started in identifying our strengths and weaknesses at no cost to us. The report was very detailed, and the owner McCain and his team were very helpful and responsive in explaining to us what things meant and what we could do to make the most impact right away! Very grateful for their expertise and generosity in helping us get started!

The owner McCain was the number one person that helped us. His team helped run the diagnostic, but he was the person we dealt with directly. He is a very friendly and knowledgeable man.

Their guidance has helped us improve our site performance and SEO ranking greatly. We are doing much of the work ourselves and gradually getting everything done under their expert guidance. They are very on point with everything and have improved our site and visibility!

Their passion and drive! They are full of great marketers who really try and understand the different industries they work with at a granular level. I had some pretty bad experiences with agencies prior to working with Set Fire. But their team didn't make me feel like just a number. They really cared to make my success their success. I was initially concerned that they seemed like a fairly young team. But they make up for this with drive, charisma, and passion. They are not the biggest agency around. So there are some services they don't offer that I wish they did. Would love to have everything under one roof.

I’m the west coast regional manager of 18|8 Fine Men's Salon. It’s a hair salon geared specifically toward men. I oversee the West Coast and operations for about 50 franchisees and help them get their small businesses on track to grow.

Working with franchisees, they all have different backgrounds with different focuses. Even though they might be passionate about something specific, there are a lot of different parts to consider when running a business. They’re fantastic at communicating. For any correspondence I was cc’d on, it was never Set Fire Creative delaying responses and that’s because they’re really on top of everything. They meet deadlines.

Their commitment shows that they’re a company that really cares about their clients and their work. We really admire that. They bring high levels of creativity to all of their projects and it blows us away. They’re a growing business, so the way their business model works with ours is pretty seamless. Off the top of my head, no. All of the feedback has been positive, thus far.

Set Fire accepted a lower minimum budget than other agencies. I was referred by another agency.

I had contact with one or two account managers.

I kept a close watch on exactly what I was receiving for the money paid and was disappointed every step of the way. Set Fire is probably a better agency for a client that has no understanding of digital marketing. If you do, they will charge you for work that can be completed in 20-30 minutes per week. Their work was simply creating champion-contender split tests within Facebook ads, which is very simple to do. To add insult to injury they would tell me this took them a full week’s work. Unfortunately for them this client knew better. Also, despite having the name creative in their company name, they made none and only used what I had created myself for campaigns, meaning they spent very little time each week on my account.

Communication and timeliness were acceptable.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was not impressed by their work and wouldn't recommend them.

I would recommend not overselling the amount of work you are actually doing to clients, especially since they have access to see every bit of work you are doing within their admin account.
