Custom Software Development for Software Startup
"SDCLabs is competitively priced while still delivering high-quality products."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the COO and co-founder of a software startup.
What challenge were you trying to address with SDCLabs?
We hired SDCLabs to complete custom software development for our company.
What was the scope of their involvement?
SDCLabs's developers worked with our development team full-time for six months to bring our beta product to its final release using AWS. SDCLabs completed fullstack back- and frontend development in React with WebRTC. They developed and designed some features from scratch for the existing platform, relying on descriptions from our product manager about functionalities.
Most of the features SDCLabs worked on were related to the UI, including removing limits on the number of users actively participating on the platform at one time. They also helped us develop our agile workflows, including picking up and submitting IT tickets for review.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two full-time developers as well as a manager.
How did you come to work with SDCLabs?
A former coworker of mine had worked with SDCLabs previously and referred them to me.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested $75,000 with SDCLab.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with SDCLabs from April–October 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We have a few beta users right now, so I don't have a lot of metrics. SDCLab had incredible velocity getting through our development backlog — they completed new features and the platform release quickly. SDCLab completely exceeded my expectations; I am 100% satisfied with their work.
How did SDCLabs perform from a project management standpoint?
The project manager from SDCLabs was very engaged and discussed the project schedule with us regularly. A third-party vendor also helped us with project and client management, so we didn't always directly manage SDCLabs'. One developer left during the project, but the SDCLabs team was quick to replace them to ensure there was no interruption of service.
Their communication was excellent, so there were no surprises at the final billing. Most of our communication was via Slack, and the project and engineer teams met weekly over Zoom to discuss agile workflows. The project went well because we knew what to expect from SDCLabs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It can be difficult to find quality overseas developers, but SDCLabs is competitively priced while still delivering high-quality products. We're seeking additional funding, and if we acquire it, we'll potentially reengage SDCLabs.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be great if SDCLabs could provide us with part-time resources; I think it could expand their service opportunities.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Future customers need to have high expectations for SDCLabs' technical skills and be clear about what they're building. At the same time, customers need to know that SDCLabs is better at creative problem solving than their competitors, so customers don't need to have the entire project spelled out.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the owner of an architectural visualization studio Terodesign.
For what projects/services did your company hire SDCLabs, and what were your goals?
We wanted to have a website with 3D models that we usually use for our services. All the 3D models were collected by ourselves. This website had to offer a possibility to search for the required models and download them.
How did you select SDCLabs and what were the deciding factors?
The experience, the quality of work, the adequate price range.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
A website was created. Everything went smoothly and fast.
How many people from the SDCLabs team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked mainly with project managers.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The result is great. We are happy with the quality of their work.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We didn't experience any issues with communication or lack of attention from the side of the vendor.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their attention to detail and desire to help was impressive in the workflow.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Since there were no major issues with our collaboration, there is nothing special I can point out at the moment.
SDCLabs' development team was creative problem solvers. They expeditiously completed the client's development backlog, including removing the platform's active user limits. SDCLabs' project manager was very engaged, communicating project progress regularly via Slack and weekly Zoom meetings.
