They wanted the tools to scale. We outfitted them with the best engineers in the world.

MasterClass is an immersive online experience that allows anyone to take classes with the world's most talented professionals. They were searching for a world-class development team to act as an extension of their own. We delivered with efficient, integrated, and transparent development processes at a fraction of

average industry rates.

From burgeoning early stage startup, to massive online education empire.

We embedded our team to help scale their development. Starting with just a handful of developers, we scaled up to over 15 engineers working on MasterClass’ internal projects. This was so successful they eventually requested our team to vet their own in-house developers. The result? We managed to augment their dev team with world-class talent, resulting in massive growth: taking them from 50M to 100M revenue in a few short years.

We took an established icon and transformed him into a legend.

Tony Robbins is best known as America’s #1 life & business strategist. While he had built a powerful coaching empire, we helped him modernize his content library, navigate the transition to digital, and undergo a dramatic improvement of his entire operations. We transformed his executive staff into a highly-responsive team capable of

adapting to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

We didn’t just take his brand digital. We made it a digital household name.

Working with us, he saw a return on his development investment in less than 30 days with Breakthrough University: a UX-focused mobile solution that gamified his entire life coaching program and drove millions of downloads. After the first app, we helped with a seamless transition of engineering tasks to their internal team and continued the momentum with 4 more apps for the Robbins’ growing empire.

A tech titan was looking to innovate. We helped them transform.

The Google team wanted to create the world’s most streamlined project management tool. They aimed to transform both business processes and software systems with a new product suite that would make work more efficient and agile. With us on their side, they were able to validate their early concept through an in-depth discovery

We delivered an actionable and clear roadmap in less than 48 hours.

We developed a brief that delineated the goals, logistics, team, and schedule. Then, found innovative ways of transforming both processes and tooling. With our data, the Google Opus team began user testing and iterating on the solution we created and used this rock-solid foundation to expand into the greater requirements of the full Opus product suite. The result? We helped Google define a clear vision and action steps for their entire year in just two days.

We took the vision of media’s top Dogg and disrupted a budding industry.

Merry Jane was envisioned as the GQ for Cannabis by hip-hop superstar/venture capitalist Snoop Dogg and his tech team. The discovery platform, website, and mobile app were designed to disrupt the nascent CBD and Cannabis space through engaging and highly developed content, delivered through first-class technologies and

We didn’t just build a new brand. We launched the definitive cannabis culture resource.

We developed all branding (including logos, tone of voice, and storytelling) and created the media platforms and apps from top to bottom, from sketch work to wireframing to marketing. Ultimately, the high-concept digital platform was able to raise over $5M from angel and VC networks, including celebrities like Seth Rogen and Miley Cyrus.

They needed custom labeling for complex equipment. We delivered.

Epson had one of the best label printers in the country but needed a cross-platform software interface that would work for the largest businesses in the world. We developed an iOS and Android app that was fully platform agnostic, equally at home on a smartphone, tablet, Mac, or PC. Epson Datacom became a versatile and incredibly

intuitive printing experience that streamlined workflow for millions of professionals nationwide.

They wanted game-changing smart glasses. We helped them see the future.

The team at Epson Ventures built a beautiful, functional portal into Augmented Reality in their Moverio smart glasses, but they needed a way to impactfully demonstrate their full capabilities. We came to them with a solution: a series of games and apps designed to be engaging and to demonstrate the full spectrum of AR & VR capabilities behind the glasses.

A luxury brand wanted to expand. We made them an online powerhouse.

The luxury watch market has been stagnant since being disrupted by the long-tail growth of the Apple Watch. Westime planned to bring creativity and innovation back with a line of forward-thinking legacy pieces, and they needed a new online presence that captured that bold vision and drive.

A modern version of an old

vision, performing like clockwork.

We became the (collective) CTO for the Westime brand, building out crucial online features, streamlining and maintaining their core eCommerce platform, and helping to bring their online voice, vision, and functionality up to the standard their luxury pieces represent. Our overhaul increased conversions and performance, with a fully responsive and mobile-enhanced presence that helped watch enthusiasts embrace the brand using the technology they know.

They wanted to dominate real estate. We disrupted brick and mortar with modern tech.

The real estate industry is one of the oldest verticals in the world and was primed for disruption. That’s an opportunity that Rootstrap and Loftety recognized when we partnered to build a cutting-edge apartment discovery platform. We took the concept and validation of the Loftey MVP and turned it into a complete

end-to-end product that allows users to find, filter, and discover apartments and real estate opportunities through a web app built to grow with the company’s targets and timeframes.

We turned a million-dollar idea into a million-dollar reality.

Our work on Loftey set the company up for long-term success with the platform achieving $2Million+ in annual revenue and becoming a growth platform with a steadily increasing valuation and customer base who continue to embrace the user-friendly approach to real estate sales and discovery.

They were looking for a development team. We became a Sous-Chef for the entire platform.

Saltedtv.com is an immersive crash course in culinary education without having to attend a brick and mortar institution. Working on the platform as a development lab, we completed all the concept work, laid out the workflows and development planning, and took on the mantle of co-CTO, working directly with

their technical lead to have the product developed and successfully launched.

A strong recipe for a future of healthy growth.

Through our work, Saltedtv.com pitched for and secured millions of dollars in Angel and VC funding. While many of their competitors have struggled, both post-IPO and in additional funding rounds, the completeness of Salted.com’s approach and the quality of their product has been a marker of high potential in the cooking and food tech space.

They were looking to build a new product. We opened the door to lucrative partnership.

Together One Door and Rootstrap created the Merchandising Cloud, custom kiosk software that provides a solution to merchandising management for Fortune 500 clients. One Door now represents one of our largest scale clients as we maintain a dedicated agile team of 10 engineers, designers, and developers working

full-time maintaining and iterating the software.

Head in the cloud and $20,000,000 worth of scale.

Working with our team has enabled One Door to scale their development capabilities at a cost-effective rate and optimal speed. For 3+ years, One Door has worked closely with Rootstrap’s dedicated team to identify and reach high-growth revenue targets and through this work, have been able to unlock $20M in venture financing.

Feedback summary:

Neon Roots carefully considered target demographic and market information to deliver the best solution. During a fast-paced iteration process, they offered several strong design options, and even provided assistance beyond the project scope. They were a valuable tech co-founder in the app space.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Bond Shop Club is a platform dedicated to reconnecting the high end consumer with larger retailers by offering exclusive incentives that are available instore only for club members. We’re currently into development to launch at the top of 2017.

I’m the founder and Chief Executive Officer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Neon Roots?

I had the idea for the platform and I vetted the revenue model and business idea in general over a few months in order to get the details flushed out. I didn’t have a CTO [Chief Technology Officer] at the time. So the development aspect was a very large challenge to overcome in terms of limitations and what would be an appropriate way to approach a job like this. It was something I didn’t know.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, it involved iOS with expansion into Android. We’re also considering different web options.

How did you come to work with Neon Roots?

I researched different development and mobile firms dedicated to being a “tech cofounder” for a startup that didn’t have one. That’s how I came across Neon Roots. There were several companies from New York, LA, and Chicago that said they were the mobile development firm for startups. There were more that were focused on enterprise companies.

What I liked about Neon Roots was just looking at their marketing and them saying that they were going to take my startup and bring it to life. I had a call with one of their evangelists. He had a startup and also didn’t have a CTO, and he was saying how much Neon Roots really helped him to flush out his business model, and go through and create that clickable prototype which he could use to raise more funds and also to make sure he had a solid and scalable business model. From there I stayed in close contact and decided that Neon Roots would be the route I would go for building the initial prototype and vetting a business model.

How much have you invested with Neon Roots?

Between $10,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The initial prototype is finished. That minimum viable product was part of the Neon Roots’ bootstrap program, as well as all the deliverables in order to build out that business model.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The bootstrap program lasted approximately two weeks. Through that time period, I had several different Skype conference calls with three different individuals. The founder of Neon Roots hopped on several of the calls. I also had a project manager as well as another CTO/business development executive that were really doing a lot more research on the market - what’s out there, what’s scalable, and the best way to approach the business.

At the end of the two weeks, they delivered a clickable prototype. They used a lot of the information based on what my target consumer was, what that market looked like in terms of market potential, and ways to market this to target that demographic. Considering this was a platform based business focused on connecting individuals with retailers, it was important to identify exactly how this product will work in terms of working with companies and retailers on the backend process.

What did you find most impressive about Neon Roots?

Neon Roots is very thorough and responsive. They really vetted the market to see what was out there and not reinvent the wheel. If I had any questions or concerns, or if I wanted to make any additions towards the ultimate framework for the app, they were very accommodating to that. They were supportive in giving me several options for development and potential business contacts. I think they do some unparalleled work, and I didn’t feel like the team just wanted to take my money. There was even some work they provided to me after the project was officially finished.

Are there any areas Neon Roots could improve?

Based on the fact that they’re working with several clients that don’t have tech cofounders, I asked for a short synopsis of the mobile capabilities and how, if I were to pitch my platform to a retailer, would I explain the technical capabilities. It would have been great if that sort of training and information was part of package from the start.
