iWTF
Description
An international sports association reached out to our team for the development of a tournament organization and management system. A client was looking for a powerful web solution that would accumulate all the data about upcoming and past tournaments, participants, clubs, responsible members. Moreover, the platform was expected to be used during the tournaments as well - keeping track of performance, documenting, details, distributing places and trophies, etc.
The entire platform, both front-end and back-end was built from scratch by our team. This way, we made sure that the functionality and internal logic fit perfectly the needs of the federation.
Our role: UX/UI Design, Web development, Backend, Support
Tech stack: PHP, Laravel, Web-socket, PostgreSQL, ReactJs
Challenge
The key requirement to a platform was fast performance and reliability. On the tournament day and before competitions, the system had to accommodate thousands of users, their personal data, identification documents, photos, etc.
Solution
All content was divided into 10+ pages: the feed of tournaments, personal page, personalities, the event calendar, registration, search and filters, and news blog. Backend operations were even more complex - the system is tailored to club managers and federation members. We enabled APIs for planners, data storage, tracking, notifications. Admin panels enable federation members to process and accept competition requests, approve club memberships, and manage tournaments.
Results
-
The system was developed to sustain the user load of 400 000+ visitors and proved on multiple occasions its high-performance capacities;
-
We were working with a limited budget and found creative solutions that reduced time expenses and allowed us to save human resources;
-
Built a responsive and intuitive UI despite the platform’s high functional complexity

IL’Conto
Project description: IL’Conto keeps count of all the joint payments, be it ticket purchases or restaurant tabs, and notifies group members when it’s their turn to pay.
Our role: Mobile Development, UX/UI Design, Support
Tech stack: Swift, iOS SDK, iOS MVP, Alamofire, REST API, APNs
The challenge
The client came to us with an app design to help keep count of all the cost-sharing during travels. When travelling in a large group, members often pay for one another, and by the end of the trip it’s hard to say how much members owe each other. Our task was to design an app that would register all the joint payments and notify the owing members to pay on time.
The solution
The client had a small dev team from the previous project but they were with zero experience in mobile development. We took upon ourselves cross-team management, testing, development and implementation of hypotheses. Users install the app, create a transaction or a group, and the paying members register the amount, the date, and the event for which they had to pay. After the trip, the app would sum all the costs up and notify members to return the debt.
What the app offers:
-
Keeps tabs on more than 100 currencies in real time;
-
The joint-cost is divided between all the members in the transaction. If members paid unevenly, you can manually fix the costs of each;
-
There’s a web version of the product;
-
We made an instant offline mode of the app. You can use it without the internet, and when coming online, the app syncs the cache with the backend data;
-
Premium subscription allows to register an unlimited number of groups and transactions.
Results
-
We developed and released the end product in 3 months;
-
We reached the result by collaborating with two teams. ROCKETECH supervised the client’s dev team and directed the collective effort to release the end product;
-
An average score of 4,3 out of 5 in App Store.

-
Access Control List provides clients with multi-layered access configurations - users receive rights for viewing, managing, or editing worker profiles;

Pocket Safe
Project description
Pocket Safe is a password manager app that helps people log in to services they rely on every day.
Our role: UX/UI Design, Mobile Development, Backend, QA
Tech stack: Node.JS, Express, MySQL, Mailgun, JWT Auth, REST API, Swift
The challenge: The team was summoned to create an uncluttered password manager mobile application for logging into any websites with a single sign-on solution. This wasn’t an easy one - our devs had to architect the UX and fill it with UI elements according to the Apple guidelines, connect the frontend and the backend, test the thing, and deliver it to the client market-ready — all in a matter of a month.
The solution
We created an app that grants access to multiple passwords under an extra-secure Master Password. Users can auto-login to their favorite websites, change passwords right from the app, organize them into groups, and share account access with multiple people. The app communicates with the database through the secure Rest API.
-
We developed a minimalistic UX/UI to avert unnecessary user actions.
-
The library of the most popular services was preinstalled for a comfier search.
-
For extra security, we implemented a 4-digit PIN code lock and an auto-lock timer that blocks the app after a specified period of inactivity.
-
We implemented in-app subscription purchase with a 3-day free trial.
Results
- The end product is a straightforward mobile solution that increases productivity and decreases the likelihood of password-related breaches.
- In just a month, we managed to build the app from scratch — on time, on budget.
- Pocket Safe is translated into 32 languages and currently available in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Biella is a company that exclusively represents factories and brands on the territory of Russia with affordable prices and unique technologies. I'm CEO of Biella ltd.
For what projects/services did your company hire ROCKETECH, and what were your goals?
We were looking for a reliable partner with whom to continue the development of our site, previously we developed it internally on our own. Years passed and we realized that we needed a professional approach and a complete redesign of the website and our processes within the company. ROCKETECH took over all the work and continue to develop and support us now.
How did you select ROCKETECH and what were the deciding factors?
We held a tender and the company's employees chose this vendor
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We started with a complete redesign of our website and attracted as many participants as possible to this process. ROCKETECH had a hard time because the approval process was quite complicated, we are grateful for their professionalism and patience with all our wishes, because they were taken into account 100%. We started with the design and the first mockups.
After we agreed on the logo, the brand book, which we still use and consider it to be well made. Next, we had a website design that took a long time due to a huge number of additional edits and functionality that we wanted to add.
After this, a big stage that continues to this day is the development of the site, the implementation and improvement of the work of our internal business processes and the site as well.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were many of them. Partner of the company, PM, BA, 3 Developers, DevOps, Designers and Art Directors and two QA for tests.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
I can say for sure that we would not have continued working if this vendor did not keep the agreement and did not issue the project exactly on time! We have been working for several years and always ROCKETECH has found various ways to solve our non-standard tasks.
I think the main reason why we continue to work with them is because we constantly see their skill, expertise, knowledge and advice on how to do something that will work immediately, not in a few years, but in a month or earlier, in our current realities this makes ROCKETECH our irreplaceable partner.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
It was difficult for us to get started because we had a lot of ideas, but the guys were able to find an approach to us and structure us. They work with a very new approach, which was not familiar to us before - Scrum. We were skeptical at first, then we saw its advantages and realized that this is the right approach that gives an accurate and high-quality result.
Colleagues use all possible online tools to capture our ideas both within the framework of the call and at meetings, I'm talking about Jira, Confluence, Skype and etc. Many of these tools and approaches we have further incorporated into our internal processes.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They clearly recognize the problems and solve them with us, they have no boundaries in front of us and they try to work as transparently as possible. For us it was at first a very risky approach, but then we appreciated its value and now we understand why it is much more correct to share the risks, and not pass them on to someone.
They have an impressive team and I very much appreciate in them that they do not raise prices, but try to find ways of interaction such that they remain much more profitable for us than keeping this entire team on the staff of our company!
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I think it will be useful to add a model when ROCKETECH also provides the product owner. Because now we are working on a dedicated team model, which assumes that we are the owners of the product and we set tasks.

Web App Dev. for Email Marketing Company
"They can take our loose ideas and form them into meaningful deliverables."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the creative director for an email marketing company that primarily services small businesses.
What challenge were you trying to address with ROCKETECH?
We wanted to develop a more advanced email marketing customization product that made it easy to create sales lists. They helped us with the development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The web app contains contact storage, link tracking, and an advanced field system for emails. We’re still in the first phase of development, planning on entering a second phase following their current work.
They’re using Node.js and React to develop the product, and their design team works using Figma.
How did you come to work with ROCKETECH?
We knew we wanted to work with a Ukraine-based IT company, so we turned to Clutch to find companies that would be a good fit. There, we found about ten companies and started conversations with their representatives.
It was an easy decision because ROCKETECH understood our needs immediately. Even in our early conversations, they provided us with great suggestions that we ended up using for the project. That was very attractive to us.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $80,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked on the project from January–August 2020. Our collaboration was paused due to the pandemic, but we plan on starting up again in the future.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their development skills were strong, and outputs were as expected. We didn’t experience any significant issues with them. Both the results and workflow met our expectations.
How did ROCKETECH perform from a project management standpoint?
We worked in sprints and had our meetings over the phone to discuss progress. In almost all cases, they completed as necessary tasks according to the sprint deadlines. There were only one or two task completion dates that were missed.
We’d do a demo with them on Mondays and plan for the week following the latest demo. The process met our expectations. We used Atlassian and Confluence for communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They can take our loose ideas and form them into meaningful deliverables. We were able to expand the usefulness of our product based on their input. We found that very attractive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The initial cost estimation was not completely accurate, however. We had to spend more than we thought. They could improve in cost estimations. Additionally, it would be helpful for them to verify that all team members are technically capable of taking on certain tasks. We had to take a developer off the project because they didn’t have the skill set we were looking for.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure that you clearly present your ideas and arrive at reasonable cost estimates.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of a health and fitness app.
What challenge were you trying to address with ROCKETECH?
We were looking to revamp our application. We had worked with another developer, and the quality was poor.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They restructured the frontend design of an iOS app and added functionality. They changed the look and the signup process and added a feature that allows users to add friends and compare stats.
They changed the coding from PHP to a very complex, more modern coding language. They also developed a backend portal that allows us to analyze the users.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Alexi (Co-Partner), Igor (Business Analyst), Yatoslav (Sr. iOS Developer), and Anton (Designer).
How did you come to work with ROCKETECH?
When we were looking to replace our developing partner, a friend recommended I look offshore. We found a few companies on Clutch, and felt this team had the best proposal within our budget.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $13,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together around July 2020, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We are hoping to launch in early 2021. To assess their work, we look at how well they meet our quality standards and whether or not they've delivered on time. There have been some delays, some of which could’ve been avoided.
How did ROCKETECH perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project manager meets basic expectations. They work in an agile environment and include the client in their process. Communication has been pretty good.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They met all the demands we put on them and are very transparent in what they're working on. It is a good working relationship.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their project manager needs more experience. They could have tended to details that would have helped us avoid some of the delays.
I would also like a cost-reimbursable contract, or an equity-driven contract, rather than one driven by time and materials.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They are a great team to work with. I would suggest a cost-reimbursable contract with a fixed fee for early delivery and penalties for delays.

HAYS company is the world's leading recruitment experts. We thought about optimising process of work with CVs. We have hundreds recruiters that are working in our company. iOS Dev for Social Networking App for Book Enthusiasts
"They did well with project management."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the head of BookWA, a mobile social network for people who like to read books. Users can talk about books, give feedback about ones they’ve already read, and receive information about books they’d like to read. The company is based in Moscow.
What challenge were you trying to address with ROCKETECH?
I’d developed my business offline, but decided to go online by building an app. I connected with ROCKETECH and worked with them to build the app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I developed a business model for the app together with ROCKETECH. I designed the structure and they worked with me to modify and expand it. We added more logic to make it a bit simpler and friendlier for the users. We only developed an iOS version.
In regard to features I wanted to add, ROCKETECH gave me advice and corrected some of my decisions. We worked to build the features in a correct and simple way for potential users.
They helped me gather users for testing features and gathering feedback. We used that feedback to implement new features and modify the ones we’d already developed. After the first step, I didn’t have a clear direction, and ROCKETECH again went over the app with me. They helped me correctly implement new features, helping define and prioritize the aspects of the project. Their team advised me to move the subsidiary features to the next stages of development rather than spending money at that moment. This helped me manage the financing of the whole development process.
The app is currently deployed to TestFlight, and we plan to finish development and deploy it to the App Store in a couple of months.
What is the team composition?
In the beginning, I had a six-person team, including Alexander, who was the team lead. The team was rather expensive at that stage. Currently, we have just a couple of guys in this team—one member is responsible for the frontend, and the other is responsible for the backend.
How did you come to work with ROCKETECH?
I’d worked with another team before ROCKETECH, and the collaboration went poorly. I found out that they were using ROCKETECH to develop my app, so I contacted them directly.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested $10,000–$20,000 thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
I started working with ROCKETECH around July 2018, and the collaboration is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Right now, I’d say that the app is 75–80% developed and available in TestFlight. They also recommended me a book about lean startups, which stated I didn’t need to develop everything in production. That means I can test features with users and get their feedback. If that process works, I can implement features in the final version.
At the beginning of the contract, I developed it to be ready for the App Store. Of course, that was my mistake, and ROCKETECH just did what I told them. We developed a testing model for the App Store, and I received a lot of feedback from the users that tested it. Afterward, I understood that it should be redeveloped and redesigned.
At this moment, we’re developing features for the testing project. We didn’t invest too much in the backend and focused on the frontend so that users could test features. When users told me that a feature was good, I understood that I could invest more money to develop it for the production model. We were usually on time and on budget. If we had to negotiate terms, we did so.
At this stage, I’d say that 80% of the features are in production and 20% are in testing.
How did ROCKETECH perform from a project management standpoint?
They did well with project management. Before we started developing features, we agreed on a time and budget. We use WhatsApp, Telegram, and Skype for communication.
Alexander (Project Manager, ROCKETECH) is my project manager now. I had a different one for the first six months of the project, but after that Alexander took control over my app. I’m satisfied with Alexander’s work. He controls how all the features are developed. If I need to make a call with the team, he organizes it. The management is professional.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re clever and the effectiveness is high. They try to do the work as we agreed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The user testing process they’ve implemented could be useful for them as well. I think that by working with current and potential customers, they could improve.
I also haven’t started the production process with them, and I would like to see how they handle that side of the business. I’ve started negotiations with the marketing team and heard their proposals.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Clients should understand what they want the final product to look like. Otherwise, it will be difficult for ROCKETECH to work. I’d advise spending more time drawing out the structure and the model so that everyone understands the final goal quite clearly. After that, you can start investing in development. It’s important to not invest too much money into production at the beginning, but rather use a user testing model.
