Microservices Implementation in Banking
The microservices implementation was the next step in our collaboration with the retail bank that had previously ordered a new debt collection system. In the first phase of building the debt collection management system for the bank, we participated in the redevelopment of the predictive dialing system (PDS) based on the microservices approach. The reward for success was our greater involvement in replacing the legacy architecture.
During the preliminary research of the bank’s high-level architecture and existing systems all the challenges were taken into consideration and the right systems were selected. Additionally, as we were not the only party dealing with this project, our areas of our responsibility were defined:
- The PDS: reassembling the existing backend into microservice containers.
- The brokerage system: conducting system analysis, developing functionaland non-functional requirements, and connecting banking applications through microservices.
- The AML system: conducting system analysis; further development is being planned.
The microservices architecture functions on independent lightweight modules, which are grouped around particular features. These microservices in the customer’s banking applications exchange data via a variety of compatible formats and protocols. These protocols are then synchronized on demand.
The architectural changes RND Point implemented have opened the way for easy and risk-free implementation of new features. The choice of microservices also proved to be much more cost-effective compared to the legacy architecture.

Mobile applications for Overdraft management and P2P payments
Retail bank received numerous complaints from its customers about the performance of existing applications. RND Point has already delivered its previous projects to the bank. Therefore the bank management invited us to rebuild the applications.
Our experts migrated the functionality and developed new features using OutSystems low-code platform for two the Bank’s apps – P2P Money Transfer and Installment Credit Card. With OutSystems functionality, RND Point’s specialists achieved the following:
- Optimization of P2P Money Transfer and Installment Credit Card applications.
- Significant improvement of the applications performance.
- Applications security enhancement.
- Scalable Administrator panel development.
- Optimization of database operations.
RND Point’s specialists continue to be actively involved in further development of P2P Money Transfer and Installment Credit Card applications. At the same time, our consultants helped the Bank’s development department to learn the features of the OutSystems platform in order to effectively make knowledge transfer. We have developed all the required application functionality on the OutSystems platform. Our experts have significantly enhanced application security through the refinement of the authentication and money transfer functionality. The application has been launched. Currently, we are implementing new requirements on functionality, including integration with the Apple Wallet. Application development is ongoing. For the site and mobile application: development of the Partner’s Personal Account, updating the rubricator. We will make integration with affiliate sites at item level. For the administrative side: the formation of financial and legal documentation, further database integration and restructuring.

Hosting 10+ behavioral scorecards in BRMS without the participation of Bank’s IT department
Project essence
Our client – the largest retail Bank in the Middle East – wanted to develop and deploy a solution based on a business rule management system (BRMS) for hosting multiple behavioural scorecards:
- Fully establish the process of scorecard hosting and deployment.
- Complete coverage of retail banking products with behavior scorecards.
- Mechanisms for data quality control and derived variables generation.
- Web-based interfaces for updating models without the IT team’s involvement.
- Batch engine for existing Bank’s BRMS capable of controlling the server workload.

Insurance Fraud Detection Software
Our client, the Moscow Municipal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, is a state agency formed to finance compulsory health insurance programs and control the rational use of funds.
Insurance fraud is a serious problem for the Fund. Fraudulent claims make up a significant part of all claims received by the Fund, which leads to severe financial losses every year.
To prevent such heavy losses, the Fund decided to take a more rigid approach to detecting and responding to fraud claims. Toward this goal, they were looking to hire specialists to develop an automated fraud detection solution, and that is how they turned to our partner company.
This partner had been working with us for several years and knew about our strong expertise in building complex algorithms and optimizing business processes. The partner invited us to participate in the project and take on some of the heavy tasks.
Working together with our partner, we divided the functions as follows:
- The partner company was responsible for business analysis: their team developed specific rules and analyzed cases (see below).
- Our experts were responsible for development: we built machine learning algorithms, set up batch processes, and created a system that processed data under high-load conditions according to the developed rules.
To identify fraud committed by the insurance companies and medical providers subordinate to the Fund, we developed a comprehensive ML-based solution.
It covers the following steps:
- Creation of rules, a set of characteristics used to group invoices into cases.
- Algorithmization of rules.
- Application of rules to cases with their further analysis, where a case is a series of procedures followed by a medical center when treating a particular condition.
- Rule updates that result in further training of algorithms.
- Automated decision-making for detecting incidents, or suspected violations.

Debt Collection Automation from A to Z in Just Several Months
Collection is a past-due debt management collection system. It covers all banking front-office workflows related to debt collection.
- Decision-making strategy development — completed
- Pre-collection stage operations — completed
- Soft-collection stage operations — completed
- Hard-collection stage operations — completed
- Collection agencies — completed
- Legal collection agencies — in progress
The customer, the owner of the Collection system, is a sizable commercial bank with a focus on lending to individuals. Therefore, debt collection management is one of the bank’s essential business operations.
It goes without saying that the bank already had a debt-management system, but by that time it became out-dated and not reliable any longer so a quick implementation of a new system was really a mission critical requirement.
As the bank had already used FICO-based solutions with satisfying results, they chose FICO as the basic technology for the debt collection automation system to be developed and implemented by an external vendor.
Our long-term cooperation was subject to our team’s successful completion of the first project stage: Business Rules Management System (FICO Blaze Advisor) implementation. Our company was well familiar with FICO and we proved to be a reliable and qualified partner, so we were proposed to develop the whole debt management system.
Thanks to the choice of the OutSystems-based FICO Application Studio and Oracle technologies, we are able to carry out the development much quicker in comparison with custom development.
IMPACT
- The bank started using the system as soon as the first phase was completed due to its stability and reliability.
- After the first six months of operation, our automated debt collection system made it possible to manage problematic debts 32% faster on average.
- As our cooperation smoothly expanded from one iteration to another, the bank became one of our largest customers. Now, we continue to collaborate on other projects.

Credit Decision Platform for Lending
The Credit Decision Platform (CDP) is a multi-modular solution for both manual and automatic loan origination application processing.
- Fast development and delivery in less than 3 months.
- Fail-proof integration with all the internal and external systems.
- Processing of 1,000 applications in less than 15 minutes.
- Fast and easy adaptation to new business requirements without coding.
To meet the strict deadline and the requirements elicited at the business analysis stage, RND Point’s engineers used the cloud-based FICO Application Studio, which is built on the OutSystems Rapid Application Development platform.
Thanks to our choice of effective and reliable development tools, the development process itself was straightforward and well-paced, with no unexpected issues.
Our engineers finished the development and delivered the fully functional credit decision platform within the contractual terms.
IMPACT
- The very first stress testing showed the credit decision platform could process up to 1,000 applications in 15 minutes. Before the delivery, it would take at least three months for the bank’s entire loan department to process as many applications.
- In the first year after the CDP launch, the bank reported its record revenue.
- Thanks to these achievements, we were able to carry on our collaboration with the bank with much more scaled-up projects. This collaboration is still ongoing.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the product owner of Get Fast Credit, a microfinance organization. We give small loans to underserved populations with low incomes. We started six months ago and are based in Australia.
What challenge were you trying to address with RNDpoint?
When we started, we didn’t have any experience. We needed to create an automated loan origination system. We didn’t want to hire a lot of staff so we could become profitable.
What was the scope of their involvement?
RNDpoint has guided us through all the information we need to give them so they can produce customized solutions for us. Initially, we didn’t have phases. We negotiated the price and signed the contract. Then, we began development.
It took them approximately four months to finish. Then, we started deployment on our servers and implementation on our infrastructure, which took two months. We deployed it and started testing, and we’ll be launching next month when we finish our website redesign.
The solution is a fully automated platform that runs from the loan application to its disbursement so we don’t have to interfere. It has a good scoring engine and a decision engine, which can build risk models and strategies to prevent bad loans.
Additionally, the platform has a lot of integrations and functionalities. It has optical character recognition so we don’t have to input data manually. We can scan it, and the system will understand the information. We also have multi-channel communication for customers and a mature visual decision module, which is of great help because we can use visual elements to drag and drop and build our strategies.
What is the team composition?
I don’t know how many people are involved in the project, but we’re in contact with Irina (COO) and Yuri (Chief Product Officer).
How did you come to work with RNDpoint?
We just searched on Google, and we made a master list of providers. Then, we shortlisted three companies and investigated more. We chose RNDpoint because they had much more features included in their service than the competitors.
How much have you invested with them?
Initially, the contract was for $200,000, but we eventually understood that we needed extra features, so the price increased to $230,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re already teaching our employees how to work with the system, and it’s really user-friendly. They haven’t had any problem learning it. Moreover, the functionality and features are very rich. It has a 360 customer view, good scoring models, and an excellent CRM.
How did RNDpoint perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is excellent. We initially had some issues with the time gap because the team is somewhere in Europe. However, we then found the optimal way to cooperate, and it has been fine since then.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve helped us a lot and proposed great solutions. Yuri is a great person, and they’ve done well for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’d changed some things about project management. It’s quite challenging to answer multiple emails from several people. I’d suggest they have someone compile the information in one email to send it to us.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust them. They know their business and are really mature in that domain. Also, discuss the project management.

There was a minor language barrier between the developer and us because neither the developer nor I am a native English speaker. However, it didn’t interfere with the success of the project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s helpful if someone on the in-house team has a working knowledge of development processes. It was difficult for us initially because I’d never worked on such a complex technology project before.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Abiatec is a Byelorussian company with 25 employees. We develop web and mobile software for e-commerce and fintech projects. I’m the CMO of the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with RNDpoint?
We were developing an online banking system for a large Byelorussian commerce bank, consisting of a mobile and a web application. We handled UI/UX design and React.js and Node.js development, but we had to make some integrations with banking software for money transfers. The bank had a large internal software developed in C++ and Java. We didn’t have appropriate developers in-house, so we had to find someone who specialized in those languages.
What was the scope of their involvement?
RNDpoint developed an API and modules that handle the integration between the internal banking software and the online banking platform built by our company. The technologies used are C++ and Java.
In Belarus, there exists a global API for connecting one bank to another. It’s a kind of direct authorization between B2B and B2C customers of different banks. RNDpoint developed the API for this integration. It facilitates connecting to different bank accounts through online banking.
It was a big job requiring around 1,000 hours of work, and their components were a big and very important part of the platform.
What is the team composition?
There were 3–4 people from RNDpoint involved, including a project manager, a senior Java developer, and a senior C++ developer.
How did you come to work with RNDpoint?
I asked for recommendations from the manager of an IT companies association in Belarus that we’re part of, asking specifically for companies with experience in the banking sector, and she recommended RNDpoint. They had the right expertise, they were a well-known Byelorussian company, and they’d developed other banking software.
How much have you invested with them?
They provided around 1,000 hours of work, and the cost was $28,000–$29,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with RNDpoint between May 2018 and September 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
RNDpoint has good, qualified developers. They understand fintech perfectly, and they have very good experience in this area. They’ve developed a lot of software for banks from Belarus, Russia, and Poland.
How did RNDpoint perform from a project management standpoint?
They performed very well and did everything we wanted. The project team consisted of developers from the client bank, from our company, and from RNDpoint. My project manager designed the structure, the database, and the API integration, and assigned tasks to the project manager from RNDpoint. The collaboration was great, and I’m glad to have worked with RNDpoint. We used a Russian software similar to Jira, called Worksection.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their management is made up of nice and polite people. I highly recommend them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
RNDpoint’s services could be a bit cheaper, but they have quality developers.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
This wasn’t a typical project for either of us. RNDpoint did whatever they had to do, and delivered as per our technical specifications. I may have had a different experience if I was working for a bank and RNDpoint was my direct vendor. In this case, they were a subcontractor, and they did whatever they had to. They have very good expertise in the e-commerce and fintech areas, and I would recommend them.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of OCSICO. Our business in IT outsourcing and we provide software development services worldwide.
What challenge were you trying to address with RNDpoint?
We needed to scale up our team for some projects in Java, frontend development, and more.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’ve done about 10 projects for us so far, ranging from small ones to ones that lasted a few years. One of their developers has worked with us for months using Java Enterprise for a project. The major task was to integrate several modules that had been developed by other teams into a single application for one of our customers. Essentially, they’re a partner company that helps us build specialty teams for some of our projects.
What is the team composition?
There are usually 2–3 people working on a project.
How did you come to work with RNDpoint?
We met Peter (CEO & Founder) at a hi-tech meeting.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in May 2015, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They consistently provide quality resources that can accomplish any level of complexity that the project requires. What’s more, their team produces high-quality work, which is very important to us.
How did RNDpoint perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is usually handled in-house. RNDpoint is good at communicating with us. We primarily use Jira and Slack but are willing to use whatever tools our customers request. Occasionally, we use GitHub.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re cost-effective and consistent in producing high-quality work for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Perhaps they could outsource more resources.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They’re a really good provider to work with. Understand the expertise they have regarding technologies.

Web & App Dev for Bank
"They want to get results as much as I, the customer, do."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I represent Renaissance Credit Bank, situated in Moscow, Russia. I’m the head of the debt collection development department.
What challenge were you trying to address with RND Point?
In 2018, the bank set a task to automate all debt collection processes and develop and implement a new debt collection system.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The project had three large phases. During the first one, the RND Point team implemented a brand-new web frontend application for debt collection. It includes a backend and a real-time decision-making system.
In the second phase, RND Point developed new debt collection strategies, scorecards, and a new mobile version of the debt collection application.
The result of the first two phases was the optimization of the whole soft collection phase of debt collection.
What is the team composition?
There were 12–15 people assigned at the first phase and 17 for the second phase.
How did you come to work with RND Point?
Our company set up a tender on specific websites, which any provider could answer with a quote. We collected all queries and met with each company. We gave them some tests, they showed us the results, then we met with the leadership group in our bank to compare the results of each company. RND Point’s score was higher than the others’.
How much have you invested with them?
The first phase cost approximately $120,000, the second one cost $218,000, and the third one is expected to cost $250,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with RND Point in July 2018. The first phase ended in December of that year. The second phase ran between January–October 2019. The third phase started in April 2020, and we expect it to end in October.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
As a result of the work done in the first two phases, our bank’s profit rose by about a million rubles (approximately $14,000 USD) per month.
The whole debt collection system — the web application, backend, and the content delivery network (CDN) — improved the efficiency of our bank’s debt collection department by 2.5% year over year. This is a lot of money — in the hundreds of millions.
How did RND Point perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re highly professional in what they do. Each one of them does more than what they’re tasked to do. They want to get results as much as I, the customer, do. This is why I like working with them, and I highly recommend them. I hope we’ll continue our engagement.
RND Point is situated in Minsk. We’re far from each other, so we use online services to communicate, such as Skype, Telegram, and Zoom.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s hard to mention something I don’t like about them.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
My advice is not to treat them as a typical vendor. If RND Point is treated like a partner, everything will be excellent.

Front-End Web Dev for Office 365 Firm
"They exhibited tremendous commitment, even when significant pressure was on.."
the reviewer
the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
Owner of an Office 365 and Web Development Firm.
For what projects/services did your company hire RNDpoint (former PST Labs), and what were your goals?
Various web projects that we needed additional hands to deliver/complete over time.
How did you select RNDpoint (former PST Labs) and what were the deciding factors?
I have had contact with Denis from RNDPoint previously, although we had not actually worked together before.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
- Front end web development work (ASP.Net, Javascript, CSS, SASS)
- Taking designs in tools like Zeplin and converting it into functional website code (either front end only, like html+ JS+CSS) or in some cases complete site rebuilds from Zeplin to fully-functional asp.net site.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Usually 2-3 per project, including account and project manager and 1-2 developers, from junior to senior.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Deliverables were generally received on time, to promised delivery dates, and level of work and quality were good.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Communication was on Skype, and the team (especially account manager and project manager) were extremely available (nights, weekends, etc.). We generally ran daily standups which worked well.
Actual project management (in terms of tools, tracking) could be improved (e.g. by using a tracking tool).
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They exhibited tremendous commitment, even when significant pressure was on. They worked long hours and put in a lot of extra effort to get the job done.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Project management/tracking could be improved, at least externally (they may track well internally and just not share it as best as possible). Also, the staff naturally have varying levels of experience, so it is worth doing some assessment as a client of the offered team to confirm the fit to project requirements.
The client is satisfied with the high-quality and user-friendly platform and is already teaching its use to their employees. RNDpoint manages the project effectively despite time zone differences. Overall, they’re helpful partners who stand out for their expertise and ability to propose solutions.
