Right Angle PR is proactive, connected, and able to deliver rare opportunities. They’re highly responsive and often over-deliver on their promises. Their endeavors result in exciting publicity beyond traditional print and radio, and they overall operate smoothly and effectively.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of Rollon, a boutique management and touring company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Right Angle PR?

I was looking for publicity for a developing artist named FOXTRAX. I’ve been working with multiple publicists for 20 years. Right Angle PR is now my go-to publicist.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We brought Right Angle PR on during the month of March while the band was performing at various stages of the South by Southwest Music Festival (SXSW). With just that month of working with us, we signed up for a year due to their hard work ethic and all the opportunities that they generated. I’m sure they have a number of great contacts in the industry in being able to take an artist to a different level. They were able to organize some key interviews across press and radio during the festival and also some visits into some of the brands. They got them into Vans and they were able to get new gear and take photos.

How many resources were assigned to your project?

Sarah Facciolo is our main publicist. Jamie is active for the bigger calls. We were in talks with NBC so Jamie and Sarah were both part of that call.

How did you come to work with Right Angle PR?

They approached my company because my band was one of the first artists to be selected for the SXSW showcase. Sarah found the band on social media and started following them. She grew to like them and called to tell them that. We did a trial in March and then we signed for April through the end of the year.

How much have you invested with Right Angle PR?

We will spend between $10,000 and $12,000 this year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started talking in November 2016 and they came on board in February 2017. Our partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

They were able to secure regional TV stations for a brand-new developing artist. I have an artist that released an EP a year ago and they were able to just last month secure major regional TVs across the nation while the band was on tour, including Good Day Dallas, Good Day Utah, the morning TV shows in Atlanta, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and all across the country, which is incredible. It’s really hard to get TV slots so I was blown away by that.

How did Right Angle PR perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re unbelievably responsive. I get lots of emails every day with opportunities for the band. Their targets are quite high and they over-deliver on those for the band.

What did you find most impressive about Right Angle PR?

They go above and beyond what a normal publicist usually does to find new opportunities outside of traditional press or radio. They’re speaking to Southwest Airlines, Sour Patch Kids, and the Candy brand about opportunities.

Are there any areas Right Angle PR could improve?

No. They’re pretty perfect.

Feedback summary:

The relationships that Right Angle PR has maintained with the press is what sets them apart. They fully understand the client's industry and how to present their music books to the right media representatives.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Lesser Gods is a music books publisher. We published our first books in September 2016, and our parent company is Overamstel Publishers, which is based in the Netherlands. Our US team is made up of our publisher and me. I'm an editor for the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Right Angle PR?

As a small company, we do not have an in-house publicist. We wanted to work with a partner who could help raise attention about our music books to the specialized press and general media.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We publish books about music, with a variety of titles ranging from popstar biographies, metal band photobooks, oral histories of punk/hardcore singers, and so on. Right Angle PR has been involved in reaching out to the media, which included sending press releases announcing titles, sending advance books to key people in the media, and acting as point people for dealing with the press.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Right Angle PR in mid-2016. We have an ongoing partnership.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Right Angle PR has done a great job. They are getting media coverage from numerous outlets for specific titles.

How did Right Angle PR perform from a project management standpoint?

Right Angle PR has done a good job. We've had phone calls and in-person meetings, planning how to go about each project or individual book titles. We've all been able to weigh in on the work and have even included one of the authors in a meeting. Right Angle PR has been receptive, taking our ideas and working to come up with the best plan.

What did you find most impressive about Right Angle PR?

Right Angle PR excels at maintaining relationships with the press. As a music book publisher, reaching the specialized press has been useful for us.

Are there any areas Right Angle PR could improve?

Nothing comes to mind.

Feedback summary:

Right Angle PR is distinct because of their creative approach to publicity. They forge real partnerships with media outlets that have led to significant opportunities for the clients they represent.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Cooking Vinyl is a 30-year-old record label based in the UK, but we just relaunched the US office in May. I oversee North American marketing.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Right Angle PR?

Right Angle PR handles our publicity and public relations for select bands, so we hired them for two of our biggest artists on the rock side.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re responsible for servicing and basically soliciting all media outlets, whether it’s online, print, newspapers, magazines, as well as TV performances for bands. They also put together any other marketing things that come their way through those outlets.

How did you come to work with Right Angle PR?

I’ve worked with and been friends with the head of Right Angle PR for almost two decades, so it comes from a past relationship. We worked together at one record label in the early 2000s, and we finally found a way to work together again through this engagement.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our relationship with Right Angle PR in May 2016. They were one of our first partners in the new label venture.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Obviously, it’s a new relationship between the label and us. Right Angle PR has gotten the two bands – one is a rock band; one is more of a heavy metal band – into a lot of mainstream publications, whether it was Rolling Stone, Buzzfeed, or similar outlets. There’s been a lot of success on that end in getting these bands into the mainstream publications and eyes.

How did Right Angle PR perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management experience was great and was in tune with mine. There’s constant reporting and scheduling, especially when the band is on tour. They organize press schedules with their travel schedule, and they make sure to follow up on guest lists and press outlets when it comes to the shows. They’re one of the best firms I’ve worked with.

What did you find most impressive about Right Angle PR?

Media relations is the main thing we’re working with them on. With Right Angle PR, they focus on bringing different opportunities to the table with these outlets. Instead of just going for a review or feature, they try to create more of a partnership with the magazines and TV outlets. They try to get more creative and experimental with the bands by bringing their fans into the mix or coming up with different contests. Obviously, there are some publicists I work with that just get us press, but Right Angle PR goes above and beyond to try to get on the more creative side, especially on social media as well.

Are there any areas Right Angle PR could improve?

We gave them challenging artists, so it’s hard to say what they could improve upon. It’s a partnership between the two of us, so we must make sure we give them all the tools.

Feedback summary:

Right Angle PR’s ability to manage both online and print exposure opportunities for the artists is what this client appreciates about working with them. They always correspond in a timely fashion.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Wilspro Management manages music artists from the beginning of their career and hopefully gets them to reach all their goals. I’m the owner and manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Right Angle PR?

Whenever we have new record cycles coming out, we look for a PR company to handle the press and get the exposure for the new projects and for the artists.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their role was to secure press opportunities, whether it be online, print, or televised for the artist. We use Right Angle PR to get as much exposure as they can get for the artist.

How did you come to work with Right Angle PR?

One of the other managers in my company had found them and suggested we use them. He had used them on another project. We were very pleased with the results, so actually at this point, they’re working with all of our artists.

How much have you invested with Right Angle PR?

We have spent between $7,000 and $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with Right Angle PR in August 2016 and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

It’s too soon to quantify the results because the albums are not out and they’re doing press on the tour that’s just beginning next week. I can say that from the amount of opportunities that they’ve presented to us, they have definitely exceeded most other PR firms that we’ve worked with.

How did Right Angle PR perform from a project management standpoint?

That was great. We pretty much correspond daily. Since there are several people there, somebody is always responding in a timely fashion.

What did you find most impressive about Right Angle PR?

I think that they’ve got all the bases covered from national press to local press, to online press. Because being online has become such a big component of things, I think that they manage all of those aspects of the project well. The fact that they concentrate on the online as well as the print and the national is what speaks in their favor.

Are there any areas Right Angle PR could improve?

As much as it’s good to work with several people, I guess maybe having a point person might be better, but it hasn’t really presented itself as a problem yet. That’s the only thing I would say, that there’s not one set person.

5.0
