Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a Director of Learning Technology at Microsoft, chartered with ensuring our internal learning systems meet our global employee needs.
For what projects/services did your company hire Redtech?
When I took over the learning domain our learning catalog had over 400k active learning objects. It was clear that Microsoft was good at creating and publishing content, but needed to rethink its content retirement strategies. The first step was to redesign our learning catalog and we needed a strong BI person to assist with understanding current state.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I had worked with RedTech before on a number of occasions. They always had quality resources and competitive rates. I interviewed candidates from three vendors, RedTech had the best fit.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
First step was to analyze the existing data set for completeness (or health). Large metadata gaps needed to be explored and cause determined before deciding if the attribute should be transitioned to the new table. Other factors important to this decision included comparing missing data with learning object usage, geo origins, content age, data source, search result accuracy, etc.
In the end, RedTech produced the insights we needed to design our new catalog and created a catalog health dashboard that our content governance teams could leverage to maintain health standards.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
1 Resource - Data Analyst
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
This research helped push our learning data quality initiative forward significantly. End result is more accurate search results and higher Discovery SAT scores.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Very. They worked on site with our team.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their subject matter expertise and professionalism were impressive.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing comes to mind. It was a good experience and I would pull them in again if the need arose.
Thanks to Redtech's efforts, the client significantly pushed forward their learning data quality initiative. The end-deliverable provided accurate search results and better discovery SAT scores. Moreover, their workflow was highly effective, collaborating seamlessly with the client.
