The new website led to the client signing multiple new clients, meeting the expectations of the internal team. Redis is professional, knowledgeable, and not afraid to challenge clients to ensure they provide the best possible results. The team is hard-working and accommodating.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the co-founder and CEO of Size Me Up Ltd, an image processing company. We process images of customers who want to buy clothing online. Users upload images and their height, and we provide them with precise clothing dimensions and sizing charts for retailers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Redis?

We were looking to revamp our website design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redis redesigned our website, especially our primary landing page. Initially, we looked at what changes we wanted to make in accordance with our current target market. Their team created graphics to help explain to users what our site does. They also ensured we had the right information on our website, developing content and copy for us.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three members of the Redis team, including a main account manager who was our primary point of contact.

How did you come to work with Redis?

We met Redis at a web summit last year. Their team came over to our booth and gave us some insight into how we could improve our designs for both web and mobile. Redis really took the time to get to know our business, which made a huge difference compared to everyone else. They actually believed in and took an interest in what we were trying to do.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about £5,000 (approximately $6,400 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Redis ran from December 2019–January 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The way we engage with our customers has improved since redesigning the website. We signed on a couple of clients this month and are receiving interest from a couple more just based on the changes we made, so it’s been an immensely positive experience.

How did Redis perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a great project management process. Redis never agreed with us just to agree, they weren’t afraid to challenge us. Our teams primarily communicated through Skype. It was one of the best outsourcing experiences I’ve ever had.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Redis shows real interest in our product and what we do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Make sure to check that you have dynamic backgrounds for your websites. When we got our final product it was stagnant and wasn’t mobile or tablet responsive. Once we pointed out to them, they fixed it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take the time to really engage with Redis. The more time you dedicate to getting to know them, the better. Let them challenge you because they have good ideas.

Feedback summary:

Although the initial delivery was well-received, Redis ended the engagement due to internal shifts in the company direction, and tensions rose between the company owners. They left the product configurators and shopping cart functions incomplete.

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the VP of Sales and Digital Marketing for RetractableAwnings.com. We ship high-quality retractable sun, wind, rain, snow, and bug protection systems worldwide.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Redis?

Our website required custom Python coding for general web development, product configurators/estimators, and a shopping cart. We also needed someone to develop a Django CMS for us.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to have a responsive, clean, and custom-coded website with UX/UI features and product estimators/configurators that would allow for future updates and alterations. We wanted the system to let us make changes to pictures, videos, text, configurators/estimators, PDF files and more.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We considered five developers both in and outside of the US. We chose Redis because of there Python and Django experience and dedication to their work.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They created a custom-code for our website, using Python programming. They created a unique Django CMS for us. We provided our design files completed by a web designer in Slovenia to Redis, and Redis made minor changes for responsiveness purposes.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a product manager who, in turn, worked with a frontend developer, backend developer, and technical director.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The bounce rate on the site has decreased. Also, existing clients and new users have complimented the updated design. The site is more user-friendly, helping users easily find what they are looking for.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used Asana and Google Sheets to manage the project. There was no language barrier because the product manager set up Google Sheets in English and Russian so that both teams could understand.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Redis project managers took the time to completely understand our project’s needs, and the project managers had outstanding attention to detail. Everything was completed in an organized fashion.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

Receiving quotes for coding updates on a quicker basis would be helpful. If they could code items as needed, rather than in larger groups, it would be beneficial for SEO purposes.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

Our experience with the company owner Alexander B. was very poor. In the middle of the project, even though we had a signed written agreement/contract, in both English and Russian, Alexander B. decided that Redis will no longer continue to work with RetractableAwnings.com by completing the Python coding and custom Django CMS for our product configurators and shopping cart.

His excuse was that they sold 60% of the business, that they have had a change in strategic priorities, and that Redis is focusing on the healthcare industry. I have this in writing from Alexander B. for anyone that wants to see it.

This is definitely not the way to treat a client (resulting in this and our other poor/negative reviews regarding Redis online), especially since we own many industry domains that we will develop in the future and this will be a huge loss in revenue for Redis.

Redis does not honor contracts and does not complete a project. I highly recommend that you DO NOT use Redis or Alexander B. under any circumstance unless you want to be left “hanging” without them completing your project.

Feedback summary:

Redis did an excellent job of migrating a large amount of data onto a user-friendly and much more visually appealing platform. The new site has been well received both internally as well as by site visitors and clients. Their organized, detail-oriented approach sets them apart.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the art director and photographer for an auction house based in New York City. We specialize in a wide range of fine and decorative art from various regions, including Russia, Europe, America, and Asia.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Redis?

We needed to update and redesign our website to stay relevant in the current digital climate. We wanted a more modern, image-heavy version of our site that was both attractive and that would effectively serve as an auction record for our online catalogs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redis redesigned and developed our website, migrating all of our data onto a Python platform on an AWS server.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four main people, who communicated to others on their team as needed.

How did you come to work with Redis?

I had researched other vendors, but Redis stood out for their media-heavy work. Since we were looking to showcase our artwork, we liked the previous type of design work Redis had done. It was also nice to deal with a vendor familiar with Russian customers, since Russian art is one of our specialties.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around the Fall of 2016 and completed the site by May 2018. It took a long time, because there was a lot of back and forth on our end and we also have a small staff.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I'm blown away by their work every day. They took on a huge, complex task and streamlined all our data. Immediately after launching the site, we started receiving a tremendous amount of positive feedback. They've built the site in such a way that makes it easy for our staff to manage in the long term.

How did Redis perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great about staying in touch with us throughout the engagement, responding quickly to emails and organizing project tasks through Asana. Once we got close to the final phase of the project, we connected through Skype quite often.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attention to detail sets them apart.
