I'm a Senior Panel Development Analyst at comScore, one of the world's largest market research organizations. For what projects/services did your company hire Qmobi?

We needed to expand our mobile market research panel by acquiring users for an app we had recently developed, but we were having difficulty reaching users in Norway. None of our existing partners could break into this demographic, with virtually everyone I contacted telling me that they couldn't do it. 

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to acquire a large enough user base to generate the data needed for our contract with Norway.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I scoured the internet for vendors who could work with traffic in Norway on a cost per install basis. I looked through LinkedIn, ad network directories, and searching on Google, and reached out to various agencies based in Oslo. No one I talked to was confident they could handle this project. Qmobi managed to successfully reach this audience and has remained our highest performing partner in our most challenging region.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

They handle all aspects of the campaign, including graphic design, and developed some very creative ads and videos for us. After exploring various channels to find the most effective ways to reach our target users, such as Double Click, In-App advertising, AdWords, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, they quickly determine which will be most successful.

We work together to determine KPIs, budgets, and project costs to meet our goals. Qmobi makes a concerted effort to be cost-effective and provide the highest possible quality results.

What was the team composition?

I've worked closely with both the project manager and a campaign manager, who is also responsible for media buyers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Qmobi is responsible for 90% of our active panelists in our highest priority country. They have increased our Facebook following exponentially and have worked hard to maintain our target download-to-active-user conversion rate, which requires not only acquiring downloads, but downloads that convert. They also strive to improve our app store rating by providing guidance on negative reviews.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They have been very engaged in actively managing the campaigns and optimizing performance. They provide me with daily feedback on areas of improvement and are available 24/7 despite the time zone differences. We communicate primarily via online chat, using AppsFlyer to monitor performance.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Qmobi is willing to do whatever it takes to make a campaign successful even when other companies say it's impossible. They are very honest and transparent, even taking an occasional negative ROI while working to grow our campaigns. Qmobi provides us with mobile traffic services and creatives. Our goal is to convert that traffic into clients. Qmobi has launched advertising campaigns through Facebook and My Target that are aimed at mobile devices. We work on a performance-based model.

Qmobi provides us with quality analyses of the traffic as well as key metrics. They have tried different types of creatives and different audiences. Qmobi has launched some A/B tests, and the campaigns are optimized again and again to get the best possible results. Since our website was already in place, Qmobi did not provide mobile or web development.

What is the team dynamic?

We had a team in place, consisting of a personal account manager, a traffic manager, and a team of designers.

How did you come to work with Qmobi?

We were looking for ways to optimize our user acquisition process, but there was no specific search. Qmobi found us online and approached us, offering mobile traffic and advertising services. We had previously heard about them from others who gave Qmobi positive recommendations. They made us a good offer, and we proposed a revenue-sharing model. These were the 2 factors in our decision.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It would be difficult for me to provide any specific numbers. Qmobi helped us lower our client acquisition cost and increased our conversion rate. Our conversions are usually 5%–10%, and we pay Qmobi a percent of the revenue. So far, we’ve seen a 20% increase in revenue.

We are completely satisfied with this collaboration. The process is done on a very high level, and everything is okay.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Qmobi’s account managers are always available and willing to help us analyze the campaigns. They provide detailed results. If we don’t understand something, they would explain it in detail and answer our questions. We’ve found the results to be positive, which is why we’ve kept working with Qmobi. It’s hard to compare them to other providers since we haven’t worked with anyone else.

What were the results of the project, and are there any metrics you can share?

Qmobi has already provided us more than 500,000 users. Unfortunately, we can’t dig deeper because of an NDA-agreement.

How did they perform from a project management perspective (communication, schedule, etc…)?

We’ve been given a personal account manager and two media buyers that are quite fast with optimizing the advertising campaigns. This contributes a lot to successfully completing our plans for monthly installs. Because of this profitable collaboration, the conversion rate of traffic provided by Qmobi has already made a 10% increase.

When working with them, was there anything unique or special about Qmobi compared to other companies that you may have worked with?

Qmobi’s managers are available 24/7, and for us, they're definitely inside the Top-3 best user acquisition agencies.

The first version of our app had been made in 2015, and we attracted a global following with mostly organic traffic. This gave us an opportunity to understand what the best acquisition channels for our users were, and we tested different approaches by ourselves. We worked with our local users in Russia, looking at attracting new ones through celebrity marketing on Instagram and Facebook. We also looked at the CPA [cost per acquisition] price for customers.

Our company is small and doesn’t have a dedicated marketing team, so we decided to continue the graphic design part of our effort by using an external partner.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Qmobi has helped us find the best creative people, and assigned their own designers for work on our brand book and banners.

Our two main markets are Russia and the US, for both of which we’ve worked with Qmobi. They provide full information for our Facebook campaign and try to change strategies in order to gain better results.

We met Qmobi at a conference in Moscow in 2016. We had never tried to work with a company like theirs and had usually done everything in-house, but I liked how they worked. Looking at our traffic results, I can see how many users we’ve acquired on a month-by-month basis. Instagram and Facebook are not our main channels, but we use them for views rather than installs. Our target audience comprises young parents, so it’s important for us to be visible to them. Qmobi has provided a good CPA, and they’ve been good for what we’re doing. We don’t have a huge budget, but we have simple tasks. People like our graphics and unique communication approach, but Qmobi is always helping us find out what could work better.

How did Qmobi perform from a project management standpoint?

We chose Qmobi because of their project management team. They were always able to help us with questions around the new Facebook software development kit or similar issues. I’ve worked with three different managers who have all replied to my emails quickly. I don’t have any communication problems. We don’t keep deadlines since all our campaigns are year-round.

Our task was to find an agency that could assist us with a user acquisition process. We wanted to test different marketing channels, social media, and others. We decided to work with Qmobi to test the channels and to acquire more customers for our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The key strategy for Qmobi was to acquire new users with a specific CPO [cost per order]. This means that we are receiving new customers who are spending certain amounts, which makes it very profitable for us. Qmobi has worked on ads for us as well, but we didn’t dive into their strategy of advertisement. We just gave them our guidelines, and they worked within those to make everything themselves.

A key advantage of using Qmobi is that they provide us with the users for a specific CPO. That’s the key idea of our partnership with them. They can do a lot of different ads every day, including testing and other things. They don’t tell us about the details because it’s their work. We just want new users from them which cost us a specific amount of money.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We are working with the metric of CPO. We gave them the specific cost of this order for our business, which is about ₽550 [US $9] per order. They forecast the number of users they will provide us, we confirm it, and then we start working. Usually, they perform better than expected and bring us more users, so the cost decreases. This is another advantage of working with them and we are happy.

How did Qmobi perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m not copied on all emails, as I have a marketing manager who discusses the project every day with them. I know she is happy working with them. They are quite fast in starting new campaigns or in handling emergency work if something goes wrong on our landing pages or our service.

The communication is good, and they always make it clear when any issues arise. They usually send me one email per week where they describe all the stats they received and the timing for future campaigns. For me, it is very useful to see everything in one email. We usually use email for communication, and sometimes we use Telegram Chat for emergency situations. We also have meetings, but they are quite rare.

What did you find most impressive about Qmobi?

In Russia, we have so many different agencies. The key advantage of any agency is just to do work well and be communicative. Service and performance are the key metrics to determine if an agency good. I am really happy working with Qmobi. They are performing acquisitions with the right CPO and provide customer service at a very high level. That’s enough for me.

They could maybe have more creative initiative. They usually provide us with just simple and ordinary channels, like social media and paid search.
