Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
I don't have any statistics at this time. It has just been finished. However, we have deployed the app in three different locations for testing purposes, and it tested great. For comparison, we tested the other app together with our previous company, and it broke the student Chromebooks. They couldn't go to certain sites.
With the new app, we tested the same sites and the same issues, and there were none at all. The first three minimal rollouts have been very positive. Right now, in terms of data, we're looking at the amount of server bandwidth that will be taken up and performance issues. We don't have enough numbers yet, but the three data points we've had, have been positive. We should know more by mid-January .
How did Promatics Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
The project was completed two weeks ahead of time. I can't think of another place that has ever done that for me. That's astounding, especially since we've worked with another company that had worked with us for eight months in order to complete it.
One of the things that are very hard for any businessperson to find is a team that will respond quickly and do what you say. I've been extremely impressed so far with their ability to do that. It's like having a copy of Photoshop in front of you, where you can grab and move images around, but with code. I have the ability to look from a high standpoint and decide what I want the app to do, but without worrying about technical aspects. If I tell them to move something to the left or add a feature, it simply gets done, and I don't have to think about the back-end.
Typically, their response time was one day. They would let me look at a version of the app on Monday, I would write my issues and corrections, and, by Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the absolute latest, they would have updates, which weren't simply their announcement of what they're working on, but the actual completed work. This is all the more impressive, as I'm coming from a company that would announce "We're working on it," or ask for more time. Promatics just get the work done. I feel that I have a team that I can trust to get things done.
What distinguishes Promatics Technologies from other providers?
They have great response time and do what I ask. The other company would only do what I said. What I like about Promatics is that they're adding things that I didn't particularly ask for, which contribute positively to the work. One example would be a search function that I wanted to implement. They added a date-range search, which was their idea.
They went well beyond the scope of what I set out. That was not only due to features requested by me, but also ideas that they came up with, and included directly. It isn't just about me coming up with ideas. I also need feedback from smart developers, especially since they bring things I'd never have even though of on my own. If a feature will take three hours to program, but will make the experience 10 times better, then spend those three hours, and let me know. There were several things that they added, which enhanced the app without my asking.
Is there anything Promatics Technologies could have improved or done differently?
There were some grammar errors in the app. This is a minor issue, and there's nothing else. Any quality control would catch this anyway.
