Hooga Homes and Gardens
https://hoogahomes.com/
Overview
Hooga Homes and Gardens is an online furniture store operating under the non-profit organization. The mission of the organization is to provide for a happy and healthy aging. Hooga Homes and Gardens offers a wide range of home decor items and furniture while all of its profits are spent on developing their social goals.
The client needed a simple and attractive ecommerce website that would be easy to use for end clients, easy to manage and would also address and propel the social mission of the organization.
About project
Hooga Homes and Gardens is a furniture and home decor store offering high quality, handcrafted and/or imported items. It is a non-profit business established to generate income to the Alama Foundation, which is dedicated to positive aging and healthy living for older adults and elders. All profit from Hooga Homes and Gardens supports programs like The Infinite Mind - Dementia Project, and Local MP3s in Home Care Project. Along with the opportunity to find unique items that give Hooga clients’ homes that one-of-a-kind flare, Hooga Homes and Gardens gives senior citizens crucial mental and physical attention they need to survive and cherish seniority.
The goal of creating a website was to reach out to the broader audience all over the country rather than be limited to the physical store. The major requirements included creation of pleasant customer experience throughout the purchasing process, minimalistic design and simple user interface.

Creating positive shopping experience
We strive to make our clients’ shopping experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible, encourage them to return and increase sales as a result. That is why we made the sign up process very simple and provided an option to login with Facebook or Google.
Such notion of simplification can be found on other pages too. For example, the user can save his preferred mailing address and payment method so that the purchase can be made in two clicks. The one only adds the item to the cart, selects desired shipping and payment options and that is it. No need to enter address or card number all over again. The quicker the order can be made, the more purchases there will be.
We could not go without Wishlist either. With such a great variety of products offered users will definitely want to save some items for later purchases.
-
Putting the right accents
Hooga Homes and Gardens offers a wide range of items with creative unique designs. This led us to the conclusion that we needed to come up with a minimalistic website design in order to draw more attention to items themselves rather than to the website. We also added Featured categories section in order to suggest the most popular ones or the ones that the store owner would like to sell faster.
-
Let the clients find the best match
The more items are added to the website the harder it is to find what you are looking for. Keeping this in mind we created an extended list of filters that would allow users find items that would meet their requirements in the best possible way. When the client can find the perfect match he is more likely to return again.

The Infinite Mind - Dementia Project
https://www.theinfinitemind.org/
Overview
With the increasing number of people with dementia all over the world the need for information and help is growing too. The Infinite Mind mission is to raise public awareness, inform, educate, and improve the quality of life of those living with dementia, and of those affected worldwide.
With this high goal in mind we created an attractive yet very functional website that not only serves as a good information source and education platform for the end users but also helps The Infinite Mind team receive donations and develop their project all over the world.
About project
According to the World Health Organization there are around 50 million people suffering from dementia and nearly 10 million new cases each year. This results in the growing need for information about the syndrome, its treatment and care. The Infinite Mind is an educational project aimed at increasing awareness about dementia, empowering and encouraging those living with it and their families. Katya Deluisa (the founder) and her team offer innovative information and programs which generate a new understanding of the workings of the brain and human consciousness and how both are affected by dementia.
The goal of the project was to create a platform(space) where people suffering dementia or those taking care of them can find up-to-date information about the syndron, learn more about the treatment and therapy and find help within the community of people that face dementia and work with it. We also needed to include the option to donate for those willing to help in developing The Infinite Mind. What we did

Make your website easy to use and the texts easy to read on all devices.
More and more Internet users prefer using their phones to surf the web. The Infinite Mind website visitors are not the exception. Our analytics shows that currently nearly 60% of people use mobile devices to read our website. In order to make the user experience more pleasant and encourage visitors to come back we developed attractive responsive design.
-
Let your clients find what they need.
With more and more information being added to the website the need for an intuitive navigation and precize categorization became clear. When people come to our website they are more often interested in some particular topic. Whether it be senior care or spirituality of dementia or art therapy users want to find information quickly and easily. That is why we developed a list of categories for each resource type. No matter whether the user is looking for relevant blogs, wants to watch a video or read an article from the external source he can easily navigate throughout the website. We also added the search option in case the user doesn’t know where to start.
-
Use well-known interfaces and services
A good fundraising strategy should definitely include simplifying donation making. If the process is complicated with millions of fields, unknown websites asking for bank account info - the user is very likely to quit. No one would risk having his money stolen as well as most users don’t like filling out endless forms. Our goal was to find the solution that would keep our donors safe and make the process more simple. PayPal turned out to be the best option. We integrated a special PayPal button that takes users to the well-known PayPal interface and does not require any unusual info. Those willing to donate can also use their PayPal account.

Alama Foundation
https://www.alamafoundation.org/
Overview
Alama Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to establish programs and resources that provide for aging adults online, in the community, and in home care. Within 10 years, it plans to expand programs and resources to certified institutes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
Such goals would be impossible to achieve if not for an attractive and informative website. To start with we came up with a one-page website addressing the mission of the organization and linking its current projects and programs.
About project
In 10 years, 1 in 5 US citizens will need additional senior care of some kind. Our nation needs more focus and attention on aging adult care than ever before in our history. It’s critical to ensure purposeful and fulfilling lifestyles and resources for our seniors now, for our loved ones, and for ourselves.
Alama Foundation is a nonprofit organization that sees a nation equipped to care for its growing senior population. We see our aging adults engaged symbiotically within their communities. Within 5 years, Alama aims to establish programs and resources that provide for aging adults online, in the community, and in home care. Within 10 years, we aim to expand programs and resources to certified institutes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
Such goals would be impossible to achieve in the XXI century if not for an attractive and informative website. To start with we came up with a one-page website addressing the mission of the organization and linking its current projects and programs. However it’s not the end and we plan on expanding the website with more information and resources in the nearest future.

Make design represent your company
Alama’s high mission touched us deeply. In order to emphasize its importance we designed the website highly representative of the problems that Alama addresses. We showed how valuable it is to help senior citizens in their daily life by adding small human figures performing various actions. The users can find people walking seniors across the road, nursing or caring about them at home, fundraising, helping out with boxes etc. All of those address Alama’s mission in this or that way and thus draws attention to important issues that Alama is trying to solve. -
Keep in touch
It is important to keep your clients up to date with what is going on in your business. It is twice more important if your company is a non-profit. You constantly need to engage in donors and volunteers retention, report on the results and expenditures, let people know that their money was directed to a good cause. One of the ways of doing it is to invite people to join your mailing list. That was what we did for Alama Foundation. Now people can easily subscribe to Alama’s news and be aware of what is going on, what needs there are and what activities are planned in the nearest future. -
Link your projects
The best way to show your results is to provide proofs. Alama Foundation works on several projects and each of them has a separate website or social media page. Those specialized pages contain much more info on the project goals and activities. That is why we decide to include links directly to them with just a brief description rather than come up with sections dedicated to each project. This way users will be able to dive into the project's life more deeply and find up-to-date opportunities.

Cash For Casa
https://cashforcasa.com/
Overview
As a rule people use services of real estate agents or direct purchasing agencies when they have serious issues with their bank.It is a stressful and uncomfortable situation for everyone, and that is why it is important to express a deep understanding of the matter and ensure good company reputation.

Address the problem
Admitting a problem is the first step in fixing it. We help our website users understand more about the situation they are currently in. That is why we included articles on the most popular problems and their possible solutions. Now when the client understands the threat and knows the options he is ready to discuss the ways to solve it. There is when Cash for Casa comes in hand. -
Let your business have a face
People don’t like talking about money and debts. The situation gets worse when they have to tell complete strangers about their financial problems. So we decided to bring in some more person-to-person communication. The client sees Alexander’s photo here and there on the website. Alexander is the one on the video explaining the process. Even when the client leaves us a message or gives us a call Alexander is the one who answers it. People start trusting him because he knows what he is talking about, he is the one who has been there for all this time. As a result they trust Cash for Casa -
Answer questions
There is always a whole lot of questions when it comes to selling the house. What should we do? Do we need to clean up first? Are there any commissions? Who will buy it? Cash for Casa provides its clients with the answers right away. This in turn increases client loyalty and the probability of recommendation.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the director of Alama Foundation Inc., and we're a nonprofit organization aligned with bettering the lives of people with dementia and Alzheimer's.
What challenge were you trying to address with Potick?
We hired them to build our website as well as our sister company’s website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Potick does the front- and backend development of our website. We have a sister company that’s an extension of Alama, and it’s called the Infinite Mind Project. The Potick team is adding more features to their website.
Initially, they provided a layout of our website and suggested some pictures and contents. They also worked on things like the donation and connection buttons. The team also worked on ways users could contact us, such as through phone numbers and social media channels.
At present, the website is very basic because we started small, and we’re still expanding it. Potick posts video content on it for us and keeps our projects up to date as we add them. They also track our mailing list whenever we add people to it.
They'll be working on a third site, which will be in Spanish, for our sister firm in Costa Rica. They’re also going to do one more sister project, so that’s a total of four websites that Potick is working on for us.
What is the team composition?
I work with Yevi (Co-Owner & Project Manager).
How did you come to work with Potick?
Our founder has worked with Potick team members before. As a result, they came highly recommended when they expanded into their own company.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in March 2020, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Because we’re new, we don’t have a metric for the project yet. In terms of general feedback, the quality of Potick’s work is excellent. The websites are a work in progress, so I wouldn’t say I’m unsatisfied with them. We’ve had a couple of shifts that delayed their completion. However, that has nothing to do with Potick.
They’ve been very good with their suggestions. The team tells us how our users will see the website, and they tell us if there’s any better direction for us to take. They even help us find content when necessary.
How did Potick perform from a project management standpoint?
In terms of project management, Potick is also excellent. We use Slack and Zoom for communication. When it comes to meeting deadlines and scheduling, they’re very good. The only time they get held up is when we hold them up.
They can make quick turnaround changes for us if we need to do something different from the way we started doing it. They’re completely responsible for everything, and their response time is so quick. We’re growing together, which is nice.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The Potick members are such excellent professionals, and they have an excellent attitude about getting work done as professionally as possible. They pivot well with our changes even if we keep shifting as we grow into what we’re trying to become.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been unable to do a lot of the things that we wanted to start off with. As a result, we’ve had to keep making shifts. They’ve been excellent in accommodating and understanding that.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t. I wouldn’t ask for anything different.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be as communicative as possible about what you want. Potick doesn’t have any lack of communication, but the more information you give them, the better they can design what you want.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Alama Foundation is a charity that helps seniors and people with dementia as well as those who care for them. We mainly work to assist them with their employment, health care, and housing needs.
I'm the marketing manager of Hooga Homes and Gardens, Alama's sister company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Potick?
As a charity, we didn’t start out with a full-fledged marketing team and we still don’t have one. We were looking for a team that would be able to scale with us as we grow.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The team helps in setting up websites, content, and online stores. They also assist us with campaign planning and management for the things that we’re trying to put online.
Most recently, we have an asset of a large amount of imported high-end furniture from India. It costs about $100,000 and we’ll be using it in various ways such as auction events. They put the items online to sell through our website.
Currently, they are managing our online store for us. They have been helping to upload photos, edit images, add item descriptions, and more. The team also posts our items on Etsy, Amazon, or eBay. Depending on the items we’re trying to sell, they hit better markets to target better audiences there.
What is the team composition?
I personally work with two people from Potick. They have someone who manages all the projects and coordinates with me and our marketing team.
How did you come to work with Potick?
We learned about them from networking and through the people that we've worked with before. We had worked with some Ukrainian teams in the past and we really liked their work ethic. We also appreciated how organized they were. In addition, their tech abilities many times surpass our own. In the end, we felt Potick would be the perfect group of people to continue working with.
How much have you invested with them?
We pay them $5,000–$6,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership started in March 2020, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven't launched our site yet. However, they have been doing good work for us. The team has been very transparent and they make sure that we are satisfied with what they're giving us.
They have been very precise and concise. They make sure that all the technical requirements and other things we have are perfect. Above all, they have always delivered ahead of the deadline.
In addition, they also introduced a way we can see the metrics in the future. The Potick team presented a matrix on how we would be able to see the value of what they have been doing for us. I'm very hopeful that in another six months, we'll be able to see some pretty good results from the group.
How did Potick perform from a project management standpoint?
They understand the goals that we have. Potick has been going with the flow and has adapted to what we need, which has been really important to us because we're growing and developing as a charity. We use a combination of the Messenger and Zoom conference platforms to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Whenever we give them a list of work they need to do, they really finish it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I would love to see them branch out and offer other services in addition to the marketing services that they have now. If they expand and offer online virtual assistance, call center services, or content generation — I would go to them every time.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Some people or businesses are hesitant to hire outside the US market, but I would like to say to them that they shouldn't be afraid of stepping outside of that market. They need to open their horizons.
In our case, hiring a Ukrainian team was a good decision. We never have trouble communicating with them.
