Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm Growth and Service Delivery Head responsible for business and software operations.

For what projects/services did your company hire Poliance Software Development, and what were your goals?

Taking into consideration the lockdowns caused by covid together with our end client (several fitness clubs) we wanted to prepare and digitize the experience of using the gym and the team of trainers in this difficult time so the club members can have remote access to the training plans and follow them with dedicated staff. Additionally, the system should allow for custom booking of parts of the gym or equipment taking into consideration safety factors. We wanted to create mobile applications for iOS and Android.

The main goal was to build the app according to the current situation when using fitness clubs in full is limited and strict safety measures must be kept when allowing members to use the facilities. The end customer wanted to be in touch with club members and provide better experience when organizing remote training sessions with the trainers and health consultants.

How did you select Poliance Software Development and what were the deciding factors?

We did a review of several companies based e.g. on interviews and possibilities to deliver certain technologies. We wanted to have a partner who can provide a project on fixed price/scope method due to limited founds we had and could not go on with development on T&M model. Price and quality of staff delivering the solution was also an important factor.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Poliance was responsible for creating mobile apps for iOS and Android. They did initial design/business analysis workshops, prepared architecture of the app and graphical designs and moved on to coding. All work took almost four months to complete and in the course of the project we cooperated with team of several developers (design, analysis, tech lead, mobile developers and QA).

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The Product Owner was on our side and there was a PM/Scrum Master at Poliance together with designer, tech lead and mobile developers. Quality testing was done during the project course as well.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Two most important factors can be presented here: reaction time from Poliance to provide the developers ready to start the project in certain technologies and with previous experience we needed and their cooperation with our product owner in terms of communication. Their approach to project management was spot on, they met the deadline and the budget was just as we agreed on.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We’re happy with the communication, and way the team was setup and cooperated with our internal team. They acted professionally and there was full transparency of the project (we had access all the time to their Jira to monitor the progress, we used slack for daily meetings and ad hoc info exchange).

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Quality of work was impressive. They explained technical aspects of the project in such a way, that we could understand it easily. Also the project/app takeover was done in less than half a day.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, not at the moment.
