Increasing Headspace Retention: Healthier and Happier User Cohorts
Phiture accelerated users converting to paid subscriptions by driving an average 49% more paid conversions within 1 day. The first round of experiments resulted in a 6% uplift in new user activation. Further iterations resulted in an extra uplift in activation of 20%. Users who received these campaigns were retained by an average of 109% higher than control in Week 1. These innovative features re-activated thousands of deeply dormant users, proving that deep-linking to specific content is highly effective for activation and heightening engagement.

The next chapter in Blinkist app usage: How in-app messages help to inspire readers and increase engagement
The In-App Message had an impressive 90% CTR and as an immediate result of the Retention team’s work, Blinkist saw a 3220% uplift in instances of the recommended book being added to users’ libraries and a 4367% uplift in the number of users who began reading the book. This In-App Message also prompted users to consume more content in general. There was a 6.62% uplift in the overall book add rate and a 6.55% uplift in the overall start rate. Blinkist continued to use the In-App Message template provided by Phiture to create new In-App Messages, promoting new content and features to their Premium user base. They observed a similar impact - which is further testament to the efficiency of In-App Messaging as a channel.

Delivering meaningful content with privacy in mind: How we drove Burner user engagement and increased email registrations
The team at Phiture successfully identified that the optimal product-channel fit for Burner was a combination of in-app messages, newsfeed, and email. They were able to use in-app messages to enable a whole new channel (email), doing something that would normally need to be done in the product. There was high engagement with the in-app messages as a format and immediate validation that users wanted to receive more information via email. They were able to significantly improve email collection efforts through iterative optimization of the in-app message by 39% over the initial campaign performance. The email database can now be used to send informative and educational emails to users, further increasing engagement and retention. The engagement with the different cards and topics ranged from a low 5% to some cards that saw a very high engagement rate of 45%. This variation across different newsfeed cards helped us fine-tune content for our onboarding email series. The newsfeed onboarding strategy provided additional value by providing insight into what users were clicking on most within their feed. In turn, this gave us an understanding of what topics users wanted more information about and what they were interested in during their first weeks with Burner. This insight helped to inform the onboarding email content, increasing the relevance of new-user communications.

Increasing Fishbrain Retention: How growth-focused CRM efforts hooked the anglers
The project delivered a sustained, significant uplift over control in the Braze dashboard on leading ‘input’ metrics such as catches-logged and anglers-followed. Observing aggregate impact in Amplitude through the custom data integration, we saw an increase in weekly retention, peaking at week 6 with +50.6% uplift in W6 retention for users in the treatment group over those in the control group.
Email open rates from Gmail users increased by 1300% and there was a 14.9% increase in paid conversions within a day.

Fine-tuning SoundCloud’s onboarding: Troubleshooting Segmentation Issues
Welcome Email Send Volume Increased DrasticallyWithin one day, daily email sends increased by over 600%. Projected over the course of a year, millions of additional new users will receive Welcome Emails because of this change. Impact on Activation MetricsSince playing tracks and liking content are two important metrics for SoundCloud to continually grow, the Phiture team focused on influencing new users to complete these actions early in their lifecycle. These Welcome Emails show an average uplift over control of 4.5% in Plays within 1 day and 4.2% in Likes within 1 day with 99% statistical significance. The data shows us that by sending millions more Welcome Emails per year, an extra 507k users will play a track within 1 day and 315k users will like a track within 1 day. These are key activation steps that are highly correlated with longer-term engagement and retention. This minor - but critical - adjustment in targeting logic is likely to make a massive impact on SoundCloud’s key metrics.

How We Helped Deezer Achieve International Growth With ASO

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am one of the team leads within our global marketing department. Our company is a mid-sized IT tech/app developer based in Korea.
For what projects/services did your company hire Phiture?
Our company was looking for experienced CRM strategists and operators in order to improve our in-app user communication. The goal was to identify valuable user touch points and create CRM campaigns in the form of push and in-app messages to improve user engagement and sales.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I searched online through potential agencies with particular expertise using the Braze platform. After shortlisting a few potential vendors and setting up an intro call with Phiture, I felt very reassured about their detailed & data-driven approach. No chit-chat, just raw numbers - exactly the way we like it.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
Before we got started, they sent us a thorough questionnaire to better define our needs and goals for our engagement. Based on this, we also identified some potential limitations in the form of blockers/stakeholders that need to be included in certain aspects of the project. With this ready beforehand, the first month was spent mostly on Braze attribute/event health checks, CRM strategy, and some brainstorming sessions. We were also introduced to useful tools for organizing and tracking campaign results. The second and third month we started launching campaigns, and followed up continuously with result analysis and optimization to make sure KPIs were met.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We had the help from around 2-3 consultants and one designer, led by one senior consultant. There were weekly calls with this team of consultants, who were also available every day on Slack, email, or adhoc calls whenever needed throughout the week.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Not only did our CRM team receive a lot of useful insight and training to work on in in-app user lifecycle communication, but the resulting campaigns creating measurable uplift in regards to both sales and user engagement.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Despite our office being located in South Korea, we perceived the communication as very quick and well organized.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They had a very data-driven approach and usually let numbers speak for themselves. Both humble and honest, and sometimes seemed to go out of their way to help us out in any way possible.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not that I can think of. Our team's expectations got blown out of the water after seeing how Phiture was bringing new insight and positive results to the table week after week.

CRM Marketing Automation for Music & Entertainment Company
"We are pretty satisfied with the work done together."

The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
Our company is a music & entertainment company, developing a mobile & web platform for artists and their fans. As COO, I oversee the development operations, including product marketing, which Phiture helped us a lot with.
For what projects/services did your company hire Phiture?
We hired Phiture to design and develop our marketing automation strategy to drive customer retention on our mobile app.
What were your goals for this project?
The first goal was to implement a CRM solution, which we didn't have before. Second goal was to outline the user journey of each of our cohorts regarding specific objectives and goals for each cohort. Then of course, promote and drive feature adoption for significative product milestones.
How did you select Phiture?
Phiture was recommended by one of our advisors, who worked with them in his startup and had stellar feedback.
Describe the project in detail.
The first thing was the mission briefing, and I was quite impressed by the way the Phiture team was organized to gather all the possible information to help them address our goals.
Then, we had to get the CRM technical implementation right, with the right data taxonomy. Then we took a dive into our user journeys and fired our first campaigns. Performance reporting and iteration was key, which the Phiture team delivered on a weekly basis.
What was the team composition?
Initially we got assigned a team of 3, including a project manager, a data specialist and a CRM operator, and now we have two people working on our project.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We've seen a significant increase in activation and retention for our most critical cohorts.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Super effective. Not only is the team delightful to work with, they are super on point, efficient and very responsive to feedback. I command their sense of adaptation in a 2020 year where we had to shift crucial elements of our company strategy.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Both the workflow organisation and expertise, but also their curiosity and willingness to learn about our business particularities.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Everything can always be improved, of course - but we are pretty satisfied with the work done together.

ASO Audit for Mobile Parking Company
"Their genuine willingness to share their knowledge is separating them from other vendors."
the reviewer
the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
We work on mobile parking industry, being the leading player in the Europe with our service coverage. Our product is parking app via which you can find, pay and manage your parking. Currently, I'm Digital Marketing Specialist. In practice, I'm responsible for our app store marketing (ASO+ASA).
For what projects/services did your company hire Phiture?
The foremost reason to hire an agency to run the testing work was the lack of internal resources to run the testing work in the app stores by ourselves. We wanted to do more testing and to get better, but we did not have enough resources for that.
Furthermore, we felt that we needed to increase our internal knowledge about ASO in general and we saw that to work with an agency could help us in that.
What were your goals for this project?
Goals were to increase the testing volume, learn more about the needs of customers in the stores, and to improve our conversion rate.
How did you select Phiture?
Last year we had already run a similar project with ASO.co. They had ready-made package solution to ramp-up testing work, but this time we were looking for an agency that could help us to increase our internal knowledge simultaneously and we were not sure whether it was ASO.co.
Therefore, we involved ASO.co + Phiture to the selection process. Phiture was already working for us in managed ASA and we knew they were also offering ASO services.
They had also already demonstrated great knowledge sharing so we thought they could be a good partner. We shared to ASO.co & Phiture our current challenges and expectations, and in addition asked couple exact questions related to the knowledge sharing.
Turned out to be that ASO.co would potentially ask extra for educating us. Phiture in general is active spoke person of the industry and sharing knowledge in their channels, what I appreciate.
Furthermore, ASO.co's work would be only about running one experiment per element, whereas Phiture was offering 6-months managed testing period with iterative testing to achieve results.
Based on my experience, to nail a test on the first time might not be the case, so I felt it more likely that we would succeed in conversion increase with Phiture than ASO.co. Other factors So we selected Phiture since:
- continuous iterative testing strategy resembled better than one-off
- partner who is open for knowledge sharing
Describe the project in detail.
Creative ASO audit & recommendations, written report & presentation: Phiture executed extensive research on our current visibility and creatives, get to know our offering in-depth, gathered information about the competitors, our consumer studies, industry best practices and benchmarks. Based on the research, Phiture determined five different testing streams with ~3 pre-designed tests for each stream to start with.
Managed ASO: hands-on managing our testing work for one market. Executing the test plan created in the earlier phase, as well as iterating from the tests and creating new ideas. Included bi-weekly agency meetings where we went through the recent results, gave approval for the coming tests and went through other topics/questions we had.
Phiture was responsible for planning, creating the test material, executing the tests and reporting the results. Our duty was basically only to approve and give input when needed.
What was the team composition?
ASO consultant and a graphic designer. Also, if we had some question or matter that were not exact about the scope, the consultant arranged help from other colleagues in his organisation (e.g. expert from the retention team when talking about rating in-apps).
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Our testing volume has increased +170% YoY, and understanding the importance of experimenting in the stores has increased across our organisation, that I also keep as result of this project. To analyze the effect on the actual conversion rate is tricky since the exceptional year.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Phiture is really hands-on agency that always follow-ups and we really appreciate it, especially given that we have resource lack in our own organisation.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their genuine willingness to share their knowledge is separating them from other vendors. Also, I really appreciate their willingness to help us in our questions and challenges, even when not being 100% in their work scope.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We have been now working with their ASA/GAC team, ASO team and retention team. The work process, presentations and way of working is very aligned within ASA/GAC and ASO teams, but the retention team could improve in terms of deliverable/presentation quality as well as work process wise.

Retention Engagement Consulting for SoundCloud
“Their technical and strategic skills are very much the best in class.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the director of growth for SoundCloud, a music company. I take care of organic acquisition but up until recently, I was also responsible for retention engagement on the listener side.
What challenge were you trying to address with Phiture?
Phiture came in as experts in retention engagement, and they have a lot of experience in the activation of new users. They helped us solve some technical challenges and roadblocks that we had which were keeping us back from building such an onboarding experience with the CRM.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They help us onboard new listeners and provide them with a valuable user journey where they can experience the benefits of the platform in the early days and also, at the same time, inform our marketing decision and enable us to be more personalized in our communication. They suggested a simple yet very effective way of going around this technical bottleneck. They have worked on all our onboarding campaigns and were pretty effective.
What is the team composition?
We worked with three people directly and indirectly with a couple of other team members. We have an account manager, a strategist, a CRM specialist, and we also have had some analysts and engineers. We worked with quite of few people from their team. The work was very seamless, and we really worked as one team. It is a great trust environment, and we know we can count on each other which is pretty great.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve spent over $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since December 2019, and our work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve increased our like rates, follows, as well as retention rates and those are some of the early results of the campaigns we were running. We are still assessing the long-term impact, but we have had some very promising first results.
The quality was great. One of the things they are particularly famous for in the industry is their very innovative approach. They are technically on point, and they understand well what is available on the market and know how to leverage it. Beyond that, they also build in-house solutions. Whenever they don’t find a third-party, they consult for it. One of their strengths is that they can always get you something out of the box and even educate the vendors themselves that provide the service on how to do things. They are definitely very technically savvy.
How did Phiture perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was pretty good. We have a really wonderful account manager. She always keeps us up to date and makes sure that she is following up. She is very reliable.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I would go back to the technical edge that they have. Not only are they strategically very experienced and knowledgeable but I think they can also counter some technical challenges someone might have, or they might have a solution for something that they have been struggling with for a long time that they maybe have developed in-house. Their technical and strategic skills are very much the best in class.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t really have anything specific. No one is perfect, but I don’t think there is anything worth mentioning.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Listen to them because they’re the experts. My advice would be to work with them as one team and really see them as an extension of your own team during the project. Make sure that information flows and that there is no us versus them; this is definitely something I think is important. You should really benefit as much as you can from this partnership.

SEO and Strategy for Cycle Tracking Application
"The team at Phiture was professional and attentive."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I manage the app store optimization at Clue, a period and ovulation tracking app. The app tracks a user’s cycle and transforms that information into data-driven insights so that they can discover and understand unique patterns in their menstrual cycle.
I manage the organic traffic of our app stores.
What challenge were you trying to address with Phiture?
We were focusing on new user growth, and we wanted to figure out how to improve our visibility and conversions in key markets.
We brought Phiture in to run a detailed audit of our performance in the app stores and develop a detailed plan of how to improve performance over the next few months.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Phiture helped us figure out how we were performing on key metrics and our competitors. After the audit, we hired them to manage our app store optimization, which included testing, running A/B experiments, playing around with different visibility metrics, and keyword optimization. We also hired them to manage our paid acquisitions in Apple Search Ads.
We ran an audit on our app store performance and identified some of the challenges and opportunities. Phiture built a plan to execute a bunch of tests and see what would click. We identified different things in key markets that would drive conversions for us.
They brought in their expertise from working on a bunch of different apps, especially creative testing. We were able to pinpoint how to best position our apps in the app stores. Since this type of optimization is everchanging, they taught us how to implement a comprehensive strategy that would allow us to test different features properly.
What is the team composition?
We had 1–2 account managers and a designer. Occasionally, we’d have someone from the data team jump on calls.
How did you come to work with Phiture?
Since they’re also based in Berlin, we knew about them. We’d worked with a consultant before, but it became clear that we needed a much more comprehensive agency.
We liked the fact that Phiture combined a data-driven approach into insular services. We had copy and design support, and we had a lot of people with expertise working in app store optimization. That helped us with the whole partnership.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between €40,000–€50,000 (approximately $47,000–$59,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Phiture in April 2019, and we finished the engagement in August or September of that year.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The audit took about a month, and they managed our optimization for three months after that. We measured success through some of our key app store metrics.
We were able to increase downloads, and we increased keyword visibility in some cases. The place where Phiture was most helpful was increasing our conversions. So, not only getting people into the app stores but once we had visitors, converting them into users.
How did Phiture perform from a project management standpoint?
The team at Phiture was professional and attentive. We had a shared Slack channel, which made communication much better. We also had weekly meetings that were well-structured.
What did you find most impressive about them?
First and foremost, their team was experienced and data-driven. Phiture approached our project by looking at apps in different areas, providing key insights, and running creative experiments.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything. Everything in terms of communication and execution went well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would advise being flexible and letting Phiture present their best recommendations. We came in with this approach, and we could get a feel of all the ideas they had.

Digital Marketing for Travel Comparer and Booking Company
"Their work was good, and its impact was positive."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for a multimodal travel comparer with direct booking. Users can compare schedules, prices, and travel durations for different modes of transport—flights, trains, buses, and car sharing—and perform direct bookings with our partners or be redirected to those partners’ websites, depending on the company.
I’m the head of the growth team, which covers marketing, retention, and monetization.
What challenge were you trying to address with Phiture?
We wanted assistance with Apple search ads and App Store optimization for our mobile app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They basically took over our Apple search account. They gave us a lot of feedback and worked with our graphic design team to optimize for the visuals on the app search platforms. They created a plan so that we could eventually focus on user retention.
What is the team composition?
We worked with their ASA and ASO consultants.
How did you come to work with Phiture?
They were recommended to me. Phiture was also the only candidate that was transparent with us from the beginning about the services they would provide and which of those wouldn’t make sense for our needs.
The other companies and freelancers we talked to would automatically try to cover as many points as they could. We realized that we wouldn’t get the same level of transparency somewhere else.
How much have you invested with them?
We were paying €2,500 (approximately $3,280 USD) per month, so the total cost of their work was around €30,000 (approximately $39,364 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Phiture in February or March 2019. We worked with Phiture for a bit more than a year. Due to the fact that we’re a travel business, we had to shut down in April 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Phiture’s reporting was really on point. We could look at it from a very high level or go into detail. It was really useful for someone like myself, who was heading the team and wanted to get a high-level view, and, at the same time, performance marketing managers could go into detail on optimization schemes and particular changes.
That was reflected in the quality of work. They didn’t just do something and show us results. They invited us to their offices once every 1–2 months, where we went into detail about what they’d learned by looking into our account. I found that to be very valuable. Phiture aimed to actually educate us, and that’s something I didn’t see with a lot of other agencies.
How did Phiture perform from a project management standpoint?
We had weekly calls, and we had a shared Slack channel where they posted weekly reports and recommendations. The communication was easy, and Phiture’s feedback was on point.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their work was good, and its impact was positive.
Something that stood out was Phiture’s availability. We had a Slack channel where we could ask any questions and immediately get feedback. The 2–3 consultants we were assigned really knew the ins and outs of our business.
Then, there’s their honesty and humility. They would tell us from the beginning what they could and couldn’t do, and what would and wouldn’t make sense for us, as a client.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We worked with them on ASO and ASA. Getting more feedback from them on what to change on our product might’ve been an improvement, but it wasn’t in the scope of work we assigned Phiture.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Really detailing our business model upfront and working closely with Phiture in the beginning to set the success goals of the product was definitely helpful. Phiture was thorough in conducting the initial assessment. Sharing even minute details like how big a margin do we want to have with partners definitely improved their efficiency.
I recommend giving them as much input as possible in the beginning, on the business model, and different success events.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the head of performance marketing at a ratings platform for businesses including restaurants, hotels, and more.
What challenge were you trying to address with Phiture?
We have four mobile applications: two on iOS and two on Android. They cater to our consumers and our business users. We hired Phiture to help optimize the conversion rates for our app listings.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They provide ASO (app store optimization). They tested a number of things to optimize our conversion rates including app icons, titles, subtitles, descriptions, screenshots, video, and more. They provided end-to-end solutions from testing framework to suggestions based on the test results and different iterations. They did this for both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two people on a regular basis. There were another analyst and several people from the creative team that helped with the project more so on an ad hoc basis.
How did you come to work with Phiture?
We heard about them through word of mouth. They have a great brand reputation in the gaming and mobile app industries.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent more than $500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in August 2017, and we worked with them until July 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We tracked the conversion rates for each of our app. If there was ever a decrease in the conversion rate, they worked to figure out solutions.
How did Phiture perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated through a weekly virtual conference call. They presented results each week, and we went over ideas and could request tests.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication is amazing. The way they present results and suggest new ideas is very helpful. They’re very good at what they do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I never had any issues with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure your technology and data reporting are in order. It’s also helpful to have a clear idea of what you want out of the engagement. This way, you can get the most out of the engagement.
Phiture has received useful insight and training that worked in their in-app communication's life cycle. They were well-organized, data-driven, and communicative, as well. Overall, they have been humble and honest. They go out of their way to provide helpful services.
