How did you select this vendor?
Percept was referred to us.
Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.
Brand identity, including language, imagery, font, logos and more.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
3-4 team members
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The outcome of this project was the development and launch of our platform, utilising the incredible brand work supplied by the Percept team.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Very tight timeframes, so a mix of conference calls and face to face meeting to discuss the brand and its direction. We also had a dedicated account and project manager who made the process seamless.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their creativity and skill in creating a brand were on par with our vision. We also found their ability to deliver a superior brand concept in a tight timeframe very admirable - the time they had from concept to finalisation was quite small and what has been delivered (and now adopted) was truly incredible.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We have been very happy with the end result and look forward to working with the team further.

Logo Design & Branding for University
"They understood how to get the best out of the assets we wanted to create in order to send our message."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a Research Fellow in a Research Centre within a university in Sydney, Australia. We do applied research focused on young people’s engagement and well-being. We work mainly with external partners including government and non-government organisations and agencies, and community groups and organisations.
What challenge were you trying to address with Percept Brand Design?
We’re a relatively new centre, having only been in operation for around two years. We originally worked with Percept on developing our brand identity. We wanted something that would present us as part of our wider organization, and the unique nature of the work we do. Since then, we've worked with Percept on a range of other individual projects.
What was the scope of their involvement?
When our Centre was first established we had developed a business plan including ideas about who we wanted to be, who we wanted to work with, and our plans for strategic development over time. Percept's initial work for us was to develop brand assets like a logo, style guides and report templates.
Since then, we’ve gone back to Percept to work on particular projects like reports presenting the outcomes of our projects with specific partners.
The work we undertake usually focuses on young people as participants and partners so we want to present ourselves as vibrant, young, and cutting-edge, with an applied research focus. Percept helped us to achieve that with our original branding and on subsequent individual projects. On those projects, Percept used the original content we developed with partners and participants and shaped that into outputs, like comprehensive reports, that we could present and share with partners and other audiences.
What is the team composition?
I came in halfway through our initial engagement with Percept where we worked with two contacts in particular; an account manager and one of the designers. I have since worked with the same contacts on subsequent projects.
How did you come to work with Percept Brand Design?
I wasn’t directly involved in that early stage, but I believe we were initially looking for a local designer (e.g., Sydney, Australia) so we went out and searched for designers that fit that criteria. We narrowed the search down to 2–3 vendors, looked at their portfolios, and settled on Percept.
How much have you invested with them?
The overall costs, including the original engagement and subsequent projects has been around $35,000–$45,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our original project ran from around late 2019 to March/April 2019, and we have engaged them on various other projects through to the present day.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t collect formal quantitative metrics, but focus on qualitative feedback from partners, audiences. That feedback has been very positive with partners and broader audiences (e.g., NGOs, UNICEF and other similar organisations/agencies) finding reports and outputs attractive, accessible and effective.
How did Percept Brand Design perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very good from a project management standpoint, especially since we can be quite a demanding partner! We often have short completion timeframes and have to undertake work where we are managing multiple external stakeholders' contributions to design discussions and directions. Percept's responsiveness was excellent and they were always very accommodating. We communicate through email, phone calls, and Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Apart from their responsiveness and willingness to accommodate our way of working, we liked that we were on the same wavelength with Percept. They understood how to get the best out of the assets we wanted to create in order to send our message.
The outputs Percept created for us goes to diverse audiences, including academics, NGOs, community, and government organizations. They really got that so the outputs have been well-suited to that wide range of audiences.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There are always improvements that occur during the process, and that’s just the reality of life. As a nonprofit, our budgets are really tight so we frequently needed to go back to Percept and refine what we need to do — I’m not saying that as a criticism, and I don't know whether that’s something that can actually be improved. They gave us fair quotes, but we still had to negotiate on the prices, which they were very accommodating with.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s really important to try and describe the culture of your organization and what you want to achieve. In my experience, Percept is really responsive and attuned to that. Starting with those fundamentals allows them to not only meet any requirements for specific projects, but also ensures their work will reflect the ethos of your organisation more broadly.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am one of the owners of a Sydney based utilities infrastructure construction company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Percept Brand Design?
We approached Percept to design and develop a fresh new website that reflected our personality and style but would still appeal to the engineering sector in which we work.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We have worked with Percept before a few years ago when we rebranded. We received a brilliant result then and so it was a no-brainer to go back to them for this project. They know our business and our brand and their pricing was competitive so it was an easy decision.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We established our goals through a questionnaire, research and in depth discussion process. Percept then provided us with a couple of concepts from which we chose one to develop into a small number of pages. We provided the content and Percept consulted with us to tweak those few pages to match our vision. The team rolled that design out to the rest of our required pages. Now Percept are working with the development team to finalise the website development with a view to going live very soon.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
An Account Director, Senior Designer and a number of people in the development team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We feel that the team definitely achieved the outcome we were hoping for - our website design is definitely smart, fresh and professional without be stuffy or the same as others in our industry. The process was straightforward and the team were really open and collaborative which has helped us to achieve a great look and feel for our new site.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Percept make the process quite simple and straightforward.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Percept have been very patient with us as we had some delays in kicking off the project. Once we got going the team were responsive and thoughtful in their approach and their communication is always collaborative and inclusive. They did a great job to interpret our vision and apply it in a smart and professional way to get us a great outcome.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We feel everything was done well.
