Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing director of Tilta, a Chinese company that was founded in 2009. It’s a camera accessory company, and we have a US branch in Burbank, California.

What challenge were you trying to address with Overturn Technologies?
We hired Overturn to redesign our website.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Overturn redesigned and restructured our website. We were growing bigger and bigger in the US market and around the world. Given that, we wanted to build a robust website that could attract more customers.
To elaborate, our previous website wasn’t intuitive or user-friendly. As a result, one of our main goals was to make the site more user-friendly. It had to have an understandable and clear menu bar. The site also had to be visually attractive for customers. On top of that, we wanted to give users an easy checkout process. Our previous site was also more of an informational site, so Overturn helped us turn it into an actual e-commerce platform that was as easy to use as Amazon or eBay.
At present, we continue working with them. They’ve rebuilt the website on WordPress and integrated it with Stripe for the checkout process. We’ve also recently integrated with a product protection feature called Mulberry.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager and two developers from Overturn. They also have a head designer and a junior associate designer.
How did you come to work with Overturn Technologies?
Overturn worked with us on a commercial and video production project in 2016 to advertise our products. Because of this history and our good standing relationship with them, we decided to work with them again on redesigning our website.
How much have you invested with them?
Our investment in Overturn ranges between $100,000–$250,000, depending on the scope and scale of our projects.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working on this project in February 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Overturn has done an amazing job and built a good website that has helped our growth. Customers are also satisfied with the website. In relation to that, the team has also done things for us to hear our customers better. For instance, people can now leave reviews on our website — it’s great to hear how people appreciate the company and our customer service.
How did Overturn Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve had no problems in terms of project management. Overturn has great communication skills, and they’re on top of everything. Before we can even think of something, they’re already proposing or offering it. In other words, they seem to foresee possible issues that we might have in the future, especially during peak seasons like Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Moreover, the tools and software they use definitely help us see the project from a bird’s eye view in terms of what’s happening. They also help us zoom in to a specific area and resolve any possible issues.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Overturn truly goes above and beyond. Other teams simply get things done and then provide no support afterward. By contrast, the Overturn team is constant; they lead us in terms of e-commerce and website development. They offer new plug-ins that could solve potential issues. They guide our hands as we go into the future, which is truly great.
Overall, they should do the same work they’ve been doing. That’s already more than what we expect from them. We’re truly pleased with their job. Overturn is extremely helpful and takes plenty of responsibilities off of our internal team. That way, we can focus on other things. In a word, working with them has been quite easy.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be open in terms of Overturn’s vision. They’re working on e-commerce, web, and app development, and they don’t just have their feet in the water — their whole body of work belongs to that area. They have expertise in development, so trust them in all aspects and go with their knowledge and intuition.

We hired Overturn to design and construct our website and mobile app starting with the user interface and design of the app through execution and development until launch.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I had worked with them earlier on a smaller project through a recommendation from a friend and we had a good rapport. I knew they would be the right fit to work with my dedicated team at my company to create the best possible app for our subscribers.

Edgi is a subscription service that allows its subscribers to choose seats and get tickets to independent theaters for a single monthly fee. It combines a variety of brands in theaters and builds a steady user base of subscribers for the theaters. We needed our app designed along with our website to be the front facing platform of our business and we needed various analytics built in the backend for our internal team to be able to review data and provide statistics to advertisers.
Overturn was involved in every phase of the product built and worked closely with our team to build the web and mobile applications for our specific needs.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The total project cost was around $600,000 We started initial discussions in May of 2020 and started working on the project in June. The app is constantly in development and we are currently working on some feature updates.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We integrated all the features that we wanted into one easy-to-use mobile application that our test users enjoy using. The app helped us bring theaters and studios onto our platform before we launch for the general public.

Our internal team works very closely with the Overturn project managers, so much such that it feels like they are part of our team. It’s been a good process of working with this vendor as their team has the same work culture as ours.

How did you select Overturn Media and what were the deciding factors?
I knew the founder of the company and had worked with him previously on a different project. There are a lot of firms out there and it was easy to build a comfort level with this company since I already knew some of the people involved. In the end, it became a question of convenience.

Mash is a community building platform catering to dancers and musicians with similar interests. The platform creates challenges and creative projects shared within these communities and helps individual artists build a fanbase through creative projects.
We needed an app that succinctly displays the various aspects of our platform and were looking for a well designed smooth running application that both creators and audience members could download on both iOS and android devices.
How many resources from the Overturn Media team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We had an account manager handle our various requests and feedback. The design and development was coordinated by a project manager who was also our point of contact to go over the various details of the product. We had limited interaction with the designers and did not interface with the engineers.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were able to bring on both creators and build an audience from when we started our outreach program. The community is responding well to the application.

I met with the account manager in Los Angeles a few times personally and we had a great working relationship. My team and their team were on weekly calls and it was smooth. They are very communicative and friendly.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They focussed on why we were building this app more than anything else. They put our customers in mind and thought of ideas to improve the app to help our users.
This is the first app I am building and I was able to keep up with the progress as they were keeping me involved through the various processes.

For the project we hired them for, I can’t think of anything on this front.
