I’m the CEO of a luxury skincare company that has 60 physical locations and global distribution. We also provide facials and skin treatments on site and we have a website to showcase our company.

Their main project is SEO in general, but we also focus extensively on local SEO. They make sure all 60 of our physical stores are on the maps and ranking locally. They designed my Wordpress site, did PPC management, and provided Instagram optimization, which is great. We started with no traffic at all, and we’re getting not just more traffic but high-quality traffic. They help me with YouTube videos and then they optimize those videos. They made us a Buzzfeed video that got 4.5 million views. They’re really reliable.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

There are a lot of companies that’ll tell you they’re going to do all these things, but the difference is that Over The Top really does it. We’re rank very high on Google right now. On a couple of our keywords we’re first, and on the rest of them we’re slowly but surely going up. We got 1,000 organic visits from our keywords ranking and another 500 paid. Our AdWords budget is small because we’re investing in so many different channels, but the campaign is very optimized. And the visits convert. We’re getting conversions just from PPC, which is amazing. I didn’t imagine that was possible in our niche.

How did Over The Top perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager is really reliable, detailed and honest. They send reports for everything they do and give a real heads-up for the process. That’s the most important thing for me as a brand, to know that the project is doing well. Over The Top knows what works and they can prove it. They know where to put the money for the business owner and where not to put it.

They built our whole website from scratch. They got us back on track with our marketing and now we’re ranked number five in all of Florida and in most suburbs we’re in the top 10 positions. They have been managing our AdWords and doing reputation management for us. We’ve had a great relationship with their CEO. We’re spending a lot of money with them, but we’re very happy with the results.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our website from zero; they optimized it; they manage our pay-per-click and social media campaigns and our SEO. Everything to do with online stuff, they do it for us.

How did you come to work with Over The Top?

When we met Over The Top SEO, we were in some trouble with Google. Our previous SEO company did a very bad job; they slacked around for the last year of work and didn’t invest in us at all. So we started looking for other companies, and we simply searched for top SEO experts. We came across Over The Top SEO in our search.

How much have you invested with Over The Top?

We pay them monthly, and we’ve spent over $2 million so far. We spend about $1 million in AdWords alone, around $70,000-$80,000/month. We spend approximately another $150,000 on social media and the rest goes to Over The Top for the organic rankings, as we rank nationwide and citywide outside of Florida.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been doing this for more than eight months, so that’s June of 2016.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

It’s been a very successful campaign so far. Overall we’re very happy. We’ve been getting a lot more traffic than we ever had since we launched the new website: traffic rose by about 60% in eight months. They removed our Google penalty promptly; they did a really good job. I don’t want to praise overly, but we’re very happy with them.

How did Over The Top perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a unique method of communicating with clients. It’s a live feed so you can always talk to someone from the team. They have a lot of employees, so someone is always there when you need them. The work is well-defined: we got goals from each month and we have a sit-down once a month. There is never any problem contacting them, whether it’s a question or an idea or a problem with the website.

What did you find most impressive about Over The Top?

We are not easy people to deal with; we’re a multimillion-dollar business that deals with people’s day-to-day issues. We’re not technology-savvy and it can be hard to deliver the message properly. They’ve done a superb job doing just that.

Are there any areas Over The Top could improve?

At the moment, I don’t see anything.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Over The Top?

Let go of the reigns. Over The Top really likes to take control and they make a very good argument on that. They’ll say, “Let us do what we do and you do what you do, and if there are any issues we’ll give you your money back. Don’t worry. Just let us do what we know best.” It’s in the contract: we’re not allowed to let anyone in there. They’ll do everything for us. It’s pretty much time for us to get lazy and let them work.

We always use our Skype group but also reach them by phone and through a custom-made project management tool.

The most impressive part of this team is that everyone is equal—the CEO is just as involved as their head of development is. It’s really heartwarming and good to see that there are still people like that.

Are there any areas for improvement?

If you’re searching for fancy-looking reports and too much data over pure results, then look elsewhere. These guys don’t waste your time by talking too much, nor do they bother putting up crazy looking reports for the clients. It’s strictly all about the rankings and ROI.
