TMG Project Center Design & Development

The Problem

Being a construction company, TMG requires their personnel to stay connected to the project management system and update it with new data while performing duties at locations spread along the US.

This led to a need for a smooth, portable user experience tailored to multi-touch devices and their screen layouts.

The Solution

The new iOS application presents

itself as a modern, responsive and intuitive user interface employing state-of-the-art mobile technologies under the hood.

THRIVE App Design & Development Image

THRIVE App Design & Development

The Problem

After moving all operations onto the new system unlike anything vet industry had before, THRIVE's productivity, affordability and customer satisfaction skyrocketed and turned a promising healthcare startup into a huge chain with many locations across the states. It was the perfect time to strengthen the existing success by giving people something they'll actually enjoy using daily to track

their pets' health in a fun and easy way and not just turn to THRIVE when times for their little friends become tough.

The Solution

With the introduction of the app clients became able not only to manage appointments and interact with THRIVE's nearest location on the go, but also have all the important aspects of their pets' health gathered and updated in a smart way in one place.

Things like Vaccination history, Medications tracking, Lab Test Result updates, or simply Vitals measurements are all there to be aware of.

HatchTank App Design & Development Image

HatchTank App Design & Development

The Problem

The client had a set of outdated mobile applications that didn't let them fully use the mobile market potential due to limited user experience and lack of iterative design, engineering and quality assurance processes. HatchTank invited us to bring a new life into the product to make it the key part of the platform. We had to be careful and keep their existing customers happy while responding

to their demand for new break-through technologies that mobile platforms have to offer.

The Solution

Based on given use cases and insights from existing users' behavior we decided to design and create both iOS and Android apps from scratch, while maintaining 100% compatibility with the rest of the platform, including web application. Our innovative approach to collaboration and testing did let us deliver early results to the market and collect feedback to fine-tune the experience for maximal value for everyone. The resulting product is packed with unique features making it one of the most competitive qualitative research solutions on the market, and we keep integrating new things on a regular basis.

My Baby Milestones App Design & Development

The Problem

After getting popular among young parents around the world, My Baby Milestones, a fast-growing startup from the UK, invited us to rebuild their app completely and match the new quality standards in order for them to promote it as their premium product worldwide.

The Solution

We have updated the user interface and came up with animated stickers mechanics which

became the app's signature feature and the first of its kind on the AppStore. The app once again raised in 'Top Paid' charts around the world with thousands of 5-star reviews from happy users.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of marketing for a veterinary hospital clinic group that’s filling the space between vaccination clinics and specialty. We’re inside Petco locations nationwide and also have standalone locations.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Orbitum Labs?

We needed to develop our iOS and Android apps. The entirety of our mobile platforms needed to be reworked.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the iOS and Android app development project, they fully took on responsibilities for mobile. We have a practice management system that has a fully capable API, so we’re utilizing it to create a channel for booking, canceling, and rescheduling appointments. Users can also add their pets to profiles and recieve push notifications to the lock screen of their phones. Our next version will allow people to enroll in payment membership.

They function as a one-stop-shop for our team. In addition to the backend development and API integrations, they handled graphics and storyboarding the UI/UX. Creating the solution from scratch, they are our mobile app development arm.

What is the team composition?

We had a graphic designer, two engineers, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Orbitum Labs?

I’ve worked with the owner on several other app development projects, and they’ve done solid work for us in the past. Because of my experience with them, it was easy bringing them over to our company.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $100,000–$200,000 on the project so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2013, and our team still collaborate on projects as needed.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We watch the Google and App Store reviews in addition to tracking success through our analytics platform. That logs all activity within our app, so that’s what we’re using as our KPI. They’re always looking for opportunities to utilize the data that was available to us on the API to create new functionalities that would appeal to customers. That set them apart from competitors.

How did Orbitum Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

The main reason I’m able to hire them often is due to our small team. I don’t have time to micromanage the development of the app, so I appreciate their ability to do so. During the development cycles, we’d get a new version of our app weekly.

We had a singular point of contact through Slack that we were able to get in touch with them we had any questions about the development progress. Anything we needed only required a quick instant message back and forth. We never had to push them for anything.

Because of that, our contact has been able to function as an extended arm of the attention to detail and thoughtfulness that I want on my team. He’s easy to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I don’t have to come up with every idea because they’re willing to contribute their suggestions to the project. Their guidance is informed by industry best practices, always taking a collaborative approach to development. We can count on honest feedback from them about the features and functionalities. They even come up with solutions to our problems.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Being organized with your overall objectives will give them a better background on your needs. That will provide them with the creative license to embellish your goal. They may think of concepts to add to your solution.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a web-based company that provides software services for the market research industry.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Orbitum Labs?

I hired Orbitum Labs to rebuild our mobile app from scratch. Ideal functionalities included stable multimedia uploads and a great UX for visitors around the world. Also, the platform would allow customers to access cloud storage for their photos and videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

After receiving platform designs, Orbitum Labs rebuilt iOS and Android versions of our app. The solution utilizes cloud storage for media content.

What is the team composition?

 We work with 2–3 people.

How did you come to work with Orbitum Labs?

I found the team online and sent them a smaller project to complete. Since they did an excellent job, I hired them to develop our app.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested over $50,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in February 2018 and the project is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The positive reception of the app directly correlates with our business success. Activity on our app has increased since the start of their engagement.

How did Orbitum Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Slack to communicate and Jira to manage tasks in compliance with the schedule. Fortunately, my point of contact doesn’t require a detailed explanation to understand my goals.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They complete tasks quickly without sacrificing product quality. The team takes pride in their work, always notifying us of long-term issues with potential solutions. What's more, they have a creative working style and frequently offer alternative solutions and suggestions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could ask for more clarity during the planning stages to ensure a smooth experience. We’ve encountered problems a couple of times, but they haven't been a big deal. Overall, we have a good working relationship and they’ve improved in the areas we've requested.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients should give them space to accomplish goals without providing a prohibitively detailed set of instructions. The team knows what they’re doing and they excel at understanding project goals.
