I’m the founder of the original Neta : ‘Leaders ka report card’ app. Neta version 2.0 enables users to invest in our nation’s politicians much like the stock market. It’s a scoreboard of Indian politics that is representative of the political mood of the country and the popularity of key leaders.
For what projects/services did your company hire Onething Design?
We hired Onething to help design & develop the Neta App. Services - UX, UI, Graphics, Interactions & Development.
How did you select Onething Design?
After talking to a couple of references and reading other reviews.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
Neta V.1.0(Leader ka report card) aimed to be perceived as IIndian Politician's performance metrics where the general public (Indian citizens) get to evaluate a politician’s work through ratings. The main challenge however was: How may we upgrade this to make Neta app more trustworthy, engaging, educational, profitable and progressive for Indian users.
The new Neta app is a political stock market application, a platform for political enthusiasts of India. Political gaming has a large target audience as people are emotionally invested in the parties and Netas they support. It would enable a user to trade in Neta rupees and earn real cash, play games, participate in day to day activities & events on the platform, therefore shaping the dynamics of Indian politics and stock trading of the coming times.

UX/UI Redesign for Beverage Sales App

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a part of the marketing team for a beverage company's South West Asia region. The South West Asia region for the company comprises of five countries in the Indian subcontinent, including Maldives. I work across multiple projects across the region to increase demand and consumer love for our iconic, global brands.
For what projects/services did your company hire Onething UX UI Design?
In the Maldives, we have an app for the home delivery of our products (from soft drinks to juices to packaged mineral water), with a direct-to-consumer distribution model. The first version was launched two years ago & helped us garner initial reach and installs.
In this next phase of this relatively new channel’s growth journey, we worked with the OneThing Design team to improve the UX/UI of the application which could further help in recruiting/retention, while also enhancing the consumer experience.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to:
- Design a simple, user friendly interface
- Improve the experience. For example, from discovering brands to ordering them
And with these changes, we want to:
- Recruit – Increase the app installs in the country
- Retention – Increase the time spent on the app while also decreasing the no. of app uninstalls
How did you select this vendor?
We selected the OneThing Design team on the merit of their project proposal (basis the brief) and partly due to their existing experience of working with some the best known brands in India. A recent case study which demonstrated their work and end-to-end deliverable’s for an emerging and popular grocery delivery platform in India, also helped us to shortlist the team for our project.
Describe the project in detail.
We started off with discussions with multiple stakeholders to align on the expectations and deliverables of the project. In the next couple of weeks, we had discussions on the overall wireframe.
While the design team also provided multiple design routes for the home page of the application. Subsequent meetings led to us to shortlist a design route for the application and we had several feedback sessions to align this project to our internal visual identity standards.
Over the course of the next several weeks, the team delivered numerous states in line with the shortlisted design route. This included new user onboard pages, a revamped home page and overall, an end-to-end visual guide of the different states a user would encounter.
We have had consistent, weekly meetings over the course of the project to keep a track on the progress as well as to quickly resolve any queries and barriers to the project.
What was the team composition?
We were assigned a team of a UX Design Lead, a UI designer & a UX designer. There were other support designers working behind the scenes for the illustrations & animations. One of the Co-Founders of the firm was also involved at times to check in on the progress and whether we needed any further support.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are currently in process of development of the application and we hope to see very encouraging results from our consumers for this new visual experience.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The team was easy to communicate to and understood our brief well. Subsequently, our Project Lead was effective in communicating/maintaining the project timelines, while we also connected regularly to discuss the progress/updates.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The design work & the attention to detail. This project was a new, learning experience for me and the team made sure that they made a positive impact!
Are there any areas for improvement?
Experimenting even further to create truly differentiated & at times, new/first-time experiences for consumers. (More than an improvement, it is encouragement for the highly capable team.)

UI/UX Design for Software Company
"It was a very focused project."
the reviewer
the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
We’re an enterprise software product company. We have three offerings: an asset management platform, a life insurance platform, and a generic data migration platform. They’re all low- or no-code platforms where business users can configure applications themselves or have us make configurations for them. They can leverage the asset management and life insurance configurations that we have, and tweak them to their needs.
For what projects/services did your company hire Onething UX UI Design?
The platform we have is cloud-based and is entirely a web application. We don’t have an in-house design team, and we didn’t have an external partner. As a group, we just developed the application we felt was right, and a lot of features gathered over time, with iterative code layered one version on top of the other. We never really had the time to take a step back and determine how we could make it visually-appealing, or apply best practices around the UI/UX of the app. We decided to do that, and I started the initiative. Basically, we were looking for a design refresh of the application.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted someone to take a look at what we had, with the goal of improving style, harmonizing the different components, streamlining the UI and making it more efficient. While applying generic best practices around what we had, they refined the navigation and changed the color palette without throwing out what we did before.
How did you select this vendor?
Through Clutch ratings and proposal evaluation.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They helped us with the execution of our revised design specs.
What was the team composition?
We had one senior designer and 2 very experienced front end developers taking it to the finish.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Whatever designs we had, we presented to our clients, and everyone was excited and happy. Long-term clients have been saying that the new design feels modern and fresh. Everyone’s really excited. The design is beautiful and is as good as any other app our clients have been working with. Compared to where we started our platform, we’ve made a lot of progress. The style guides are much better as well.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We’ve realized that this was one of our better consulting engagements. We knew what we wanted, and Onething quickly understood what they had to give us. From a team perspective, it was one of our more successful consulting engagements.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
It was a very focused project, and we were in constant communication. We got what we wanted.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Given that we are based in New York and the Onething team in New Delhi, both sides should have over communicated than under to prevent some back and forth but for a really short engagement, this was a great experience with better than expected results.

During the project, I got lot of positive feedback from my seniors and peers about OneThing work. OneThing helped me to solve quite to few design problems which we were struggling with. We are confident to get more positive reviews once App gets released with new design language provided by them.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
OneThing team used to visit us once or twice in a week. We mostly preferred to discuss face to face, however team was available over the call also. Each discussion session used to be very rigorous and last for 2-3 hours.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
OneDesign impressed us with their innovation around design and knowledge of mobile App UX/UI. Team was hard working, polite and very prompt. They delivered all milestones on time.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I can't think of any. Initially I used to push them for faster delivery hoeever never saw any compromise over the quality.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am Senior Vice President for Credit Card Business Unit at RBL Bank. RBL Bank is an Indian private sector bank headquartered in the Mumbai and founded in 1943. The credit card unit is fastest growing in the Industry currently.
For what projects/services did your company hire onething.design?
We wanted to set up a uniform and systematic communication design system for Credit Card division.
What were your goals for this project?
To simplify and unify segment based credit card communication design across channels.
How did you select this vendor?
We evaluated some of the top conventional creative and digital marketing agencies but we did not find the right approach to tackle a large communication system. We were looking for a deeper and more fundamental approach. That's when we stumbled upon work from UX UI agencies and called in them to pitch. Onething's approach to the whole problem from a bird's eye view to the micro design nuances impressed us and we got them onboard.
Describe the project in detail.
Project comprises of essentially 6 parts -Understanding Credit Card User Segments -Understanding Product Range -Bucketing User with relevant Product -Creating a design language for each Segment -Implementing it across each touch point -Evaluate performance and iterate
What was the team composition?
We have a 6 member dedicated team Design Lead Process Manager UX Designer UI Designer Graphics Designer Front End Developer
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We have been able to implement communication design across platforms and they are very refreshing compared to any other competition. So far there is a positive impact on conversions and customer feedback.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Onething team was quite responsive and the added advantage of they being in same city helped with coordination. Most of the communication is on email as being a bank a lot of platforms are blocked for security.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The team was able to breakdown a large scale communication system into granular touch points and create a segment wise approach to cover all channels of communications.
Are there any areas for improvement?
What as a company they can improve upon is feedback channel structuring for large organisation like ours. However I would say design in companies like ours becomes subjective and can incur multiple discussions and iterations.

UI Design for Education Platform

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Nujam Technologies.
What challenge were you trying to address with onething.design?
We needed a vendor to develop the UX/UI elements for one of our products. We needed the interface to be appealing to customers in our region.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Following an agile methodology, the onething.design team created a series of designs from scratch. We would brief their team on what we were looking for, and they’d come back with sketches. Then, we converted those into wireframes using Sketch. After we provided feedback, onething.design made the requested changes. Once the wireframes are finalized, we’ll translate them to HTML and CSS pages.
What is the team composition?
We had a project coordinator and a team of designers.
How did you come to work with onething.design?
In searching for a design partner, we realized that many firms only provided UI services, not UX. In other words, they didn’t actually convert their designs into the actual frontend components. After looking more into onething.design’s business plan, we found that they not only created product flows but also made creative designs and converted them into frontend systems. We needed all of those services, so it was an easy decision to choose them over other providers.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $15,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from around July–October 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The product is about to be released, so I don’t have any quantitative metrics. With that said, onething.design has had a positive impact on our company. They’ve helped us present our product in an understandable and universally appealing manner. If we showed it to 100 people, I’m sure that 90 of them would say it’s accessible and easy to follow.
How did onething.design perform from a project management standpoint?
They were proactive in terms of communication. They reached out through a variety of channels, including phone, email, and video conferencing tools. They followed every workflow and timeline we set up for them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They offer a unique blend of services, which is extremely valuable. It’s an end-to-end option for clients looking to design and implement UX/UI elements. In general, their work is fantastic—not just for me, but for other clients as well.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They should stay on top of new technology and continuously try to learn new ways to improve their services. I think they’re already doing this, but more research couldn’t hurt. Other than that, I don’t think they have any clear weaknesses.

Web Design for Research Company
"onething.design had the most modern, user-friendly, and clean designs."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of digital products for the joint-industry body that takes care of the TV rating system in India. We’re working on launching some digital products for the industry in this space. My job is to create audience measurement products.
What challenge were you trying to address with onething.design?
We already had a couple of products in mind, including wireframes for how they should function, and needed someone to carry out the designs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
onething.design created completely new products for us based on the mockups I made using Balsamiq. I had page-by-page descriptions, and they helped us with the style guide, determining how each of those pages should look and making the entire interface a bit easier to use.
They also developed the frontend pages of our site using HTML, which we gave to another developer to incorporate on the backend.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 3–4 people from their team.
How did you come to work with onething.design?
I’ve known one of their co-founders from when we worked together while I was working on the Digital Products for a television broadcaster. He reached out when he started onething.design and the portfolio he shared showed that they had the capabilities to do what we required. While we did have a process for vetting UI/UX designers, onething.design had the most modern, user-friendly, and clean designs out of all the people we reached out to.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in August 2017, and they finished the UX by December of that year. The technical backend was done by another company, and it took a lot of time. Their deliverables are completed. However, with the new GDPR developments, we need to ensure that the product is compliant with the prevailing and likely data protection norms. Product fidelity and its credibility is of primary importance.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve showcased the designs to our management team, and the feedback is really good. If we didn’t like a certain page or interaction, onething.design would be open to reiterations till we were satisfied with the result.
How did onething.design perform from a project management standpoint?
They could’ve done better in this regard, but they were good enough. They had one person coordinating the project, but because of the nature of the product, we had to keep taking feedback from various stakeholders and implement the same. As such, the project timeline got a little stretched, going past August and into September–October. This wasn’t onething.design’s fault, though.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their clarity of thought was noteworthy. They were very attentive to the brief, and I loved their modern and elegant designs. I wanted a clean-cut look, and they catered to that. Some designers can be really stubborn about their work and don't want to make any changes, but I didn’t have this problem with onething.design. They were flexible in addressing feedback.
Are there any areas they could improve?
onething.design has just recently launched an online tracking portal. If they would’ve had it during our project, it would’ve helped keep things more transparent. I didn’t know what the designers were working on all the time, and I’m sort of a micromanager.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to clearly present a brief and be open about what’s needed from the team. Introducing the tracking portal has been helpful for us, and I definitely think it should be used by other clients so that they know what the designers are working on. Inputs should be shared as regularly as possible so that they don’t add up in the end.
