Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Founder of Model Tribe. Model Tribe is an online store and platform that gives youth access to community, support, wellness practices and group mentorship through the merge of fashion and wellness.

For what projects/services did your company hire Okay Jak Studio?

Model Tribe was a brand new company and just a vision in mind when I reached out to Okay Jack Studio. I hired them to build our website, create a logo and establish our brand identity. They did that plus more! They helped me to really clarify my business, and so perfectly brought it to life with the designs they created.

I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with. They exceeded my expectations.

How did you select Okay Jak Studio and what were the deciding factors?

It is important for me to work with and support small minority led and staffed business and Okay Jak was that. Beyond this their portfolio of work was innovative, clean, professional and unlike other in the market. Their work aligned with my own and what I wanted to create. The soul behind their work could be felt and seen. I could tell that they were not just following market trends but creating them.

After having several meetings with various studios, I chose Okay Jak because of our initial consultation. The team was very professional, organized and had a streamlined process from conception to birth of the project. I felt comfortable paying and putting my new business in their hands. I was confident that they would deliver and they did!

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Once we agreed to work together I immediately received access to an online studio where the the project details were housed. Most of our communication was also handled here and I could see the plan, timeline check list and goals. I initially wanted a quick turn around and even when my schedule became busy and I needed to delay things quite a bit they were more than patient and understanding.

I was and am so grateful.

I worked with main graphic designer, the administrator/Assistant and the graphic designer for my logo and branding.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I am more than happy with the final outcome. I would work with Okay Jak Studio’s a million times more and recommend them to any and everyone! Their customer service was superb. They were so patient with me, kind and understanding. They were all talented and went above and beyond to meet and deliver my needs.

They are very professional, organized and knowledgeable on the industry as current market trends. They understood my vision and brought it to life in a way that I never imagined. I couldn’t have done it without them! If your considering working with them just do it! You won’t regret it!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Everything was effortless, smooth and moved at a healthy pace.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their innovative designs, talent, organization, patience when I needed to delay things and overall the heart and souls behind the work. You can feel it in the product that they deliver.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nope! I have absolutely no complaints.

Please describe your company and your position there.

Our company is a footwear brand for fashion enthusiasts who own their power. A shoe lover's passion project that elevated into curated capsules designed with quality, style, and budget in mind. Motivated by women who take up space. I am the executive assistant to our designer meaning I take on any responsibilities that she may need.

For what projects/services did your company hire Okay Jak Studio, and what were your goals?

Our website was created several years ago when we first launched the brand. As we are only e-commerce, we understand just how important it is to give our consumers that elevated easy navigated check-out process. Our website was outdated, and with your help,​ we knew we would increase our traffic substantially by the end of the year.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed them and discussed our proposal. After seeing their work with previous brands, it was a no-brainer that we would go with them to create our e-commerce vision.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We brought on a brand strategist to make the process run smoothly, then we agreed on what scope we wanted. After those two steps, we set up a meeting to further discuss what we were looking for and what could be provided given the sow. We were explained that our chosen tier would be more of simple additions like custom font implementation and brand color incorporation.

However, a few lines of code could be added but may look like a template because there is another setup involved. After the first meeting, we received our Google folder, which kept this entire process organized and clean.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We mainly worked with Jenai + Kim. We cannot recommend them enough!! They were amazing! Jenai was the chief connective officer, so we expressed all of our ideas/concepts and she let us know if that was feasible or not. Kim​ was the project manager who made sure to keep us organized and keep things rolling in the right direction.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We got amazing feedback about our updated design. We saw a huge increase in traffic given our updated design, but more importantly,​ we were seeing conversions increase! The product pages are easier to navigate, and users can now go through with Shopify.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had weekly meetings with Kim + Jenai, which kept us moving in the right direction. They were great about communicating to us what would work and what would not. They would give us recommendations which were​ always taken seriously. If there were any delays, they made sure to inform us ahead of time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team did a wonderful job guiding us through Shopify and all the other changes that were to be made. What we found unique about working with them, is how they viewed our brand through the lens of a consumer. They expressed to us how much they loved the brand and what they would want to see if they were the one's​ shopping.

They even ended up purchasing shoes from us! It was such an enjoyable time working with a team that really cared about you and your brand.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

N/A We had an amazing experience​ working with them throughout the design journey!

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO of SACRD Media, LLC. We're a commerce content platform dedicated to highlighting luxury fashion, beauty and lifestyle products by Black-owned brands.

For what projects/services did your company hire Okay Jak Studio?

We hired Okay Jak to design our webpage and develop a unique UX.

How did you select Okay Jak Studio?

We specifically searched for Black women-led design studios and when we found Okay Jak we immediately resonated with her aesthetic and the level of work that she'd completed in the past.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

The project began as an idea to bring a shopping experience catered to Black women to life in a way that was new and fresh. Although there have been many e-commerce platforms created to help consumers shop Black, very few put much focus on aesthetics and focused more on function.

Still, there were very to or none that approached this from a media approach, offering listicles, reviews and interviews that integrated commerce. We began with a mood board, and nailed down the look and direction we wanted to go in. Then, we took a look at other websites that I'm attracted to and/or that had elements that would be useful for us and implemented those.

We had two or three rounds of edits before we solidified a layout. From there she connected me with a brand/logo designer. After that work was done, we put the finishing touches on the site, incorporating everything the brand designer created for a cohesive look.

How many resources from the Okay Jak Studio team worked with you, and what were their positions?

At the start of the project, I worked directly with Jenai, the Creative Director of the studio. As the project went on, her team grew and we worked with her assistants on some administrative tasks.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The work that Jenai put into our project truly matched the level of dedication, passion and enthusiasm we had for what we were doing and it shows. She completely understood the mission and over-delivered.

We haven't come across anyone that doesn't rave about how stunning the website is and how the idea of luxury when it comes to Black consumers was captured in a profound way. The overall visual experience has gained us loyal readers and has given us credibility when it comes to working with other brands because they can see how serious we are about our mission.

I believe the design has led to tangible monetary gains.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was pretty seamless. We used Plutio to communicate which was still in a Beta stage and had a few snags but Jenai was the ultimate professional and always managed to work around and/or fix any issues.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think the ability to understand what we were trying to accomplish was extraordinary. As a Black consumer herself, Jenai fully tapped into what type of experience Black women want (and were missing) when it comes to shopping.

She listened to every detail, helped lead me when I was unsure or confused about what design aspects I wanted, and was extremely patient. I also thought it was really special that she connected me to the designer who created my logo and brand aesthetic.

I understood how rare this was, but the level of professionalism, insight and execution was top-tier.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I honestly don't think so.
